Very helpful video. Battery died on my 2005 3.2 Quattro and since the battery is in the rear, I had no way of opening the hatch with the power dead until I learned about the hidden toggle underneath the cup holder. Cool stuff!
Owned my TT for a few months now and still had some great tips in here. The tumbleweed and then car locking just as you turned the camera round gave me a chuckle too
Thank you for this video, great tip! I've been driving the TT for 5 years, my dad previously owned it for like 8 and some of the stuff we had no idea about. :D
Thanks for the towing info, Bryn. Also, it took me about 10 years of ownership before I noticed the middle sun visor! Doh! I'm sure that's some sort of record. :-)
I have a 2000 TT since 2005, now i know the TT has a 3rd visor, lol. txs mate. FYI - The fuel door/latch may freeze when the temperature drops below zero, don't panic, let the car warm up a little b4 refuelling.
Had my Audi TT convertible for a few months I found my middle visor by watching this presentation 👍🏻 this is a great watch , Bloke at work has a Audi told him about the middle visor he's don't have it , 1st time I have seen a grown man have visor envy 😂😂😂
Thanks so much man. Im saving up for one, but I want to learn the car before I buy it. Absolutely love your channel. This is exactly what I needed and more
@@AliAbbasi-nn4on it's awesome! I can recommend. 1 note, save up for spare parts / fixes. It's an old car. I only had 2 issues with airbag module & relais for turn signals. But thats the only thing after 1 year and 15.000 km driven.
Thank you! I'm in the states, and I've always wanted a TT. Now I'm retired and I'm looking, hope to find the right one soon! Now I've found you so I'll have some neat tips! But your steering wheel is on the wrong side!? LOL 8) Thanks much, --gary
Thanks. This is a very clear & useful list of things to know. Now all I need is a nice MK1 TT as a project.. FYI. Your Video Quality is super sharp too. Excellent upload! 👍
Nice work Bryn! Great tips there for fellow TT owners like us! I’ve just done a video covering weekly checks as we need to look after these old girls and keep them on the road!
Thanks. I just got my MK1 a few days ago and am trying to learn everything. The temperature the engine is running is helpful as I don't know if the gauge or thermostat is gone. And also the problem with the window switch as my driver's door does the same.
Hey Craig, plenty of useful content on the channel to well and truly immerse you in the mk1 TT world! Make sure you’re subscribed to not miss anything!
@@BWSTT I have actually been subscribed for a while as I liked watching the odd video of yours even though I didn't have a MK1 then but will be watching them all now. I also have a mk3 as my daily
@@CraigyGInDaHut1993 the mk1 steering is really nice, the mk2 loses the road feedback, i havent driven a mk3 yet to compare but i imagine that aspect is similar to the mk2
Now collected the car. Woohoo! Having experienced filler cap problems with my Leon due to the microswitch failing, I've loosened the panel inside the boot in preparation. :D
Thanks really useful video, recently bought an very early green mk1 225 , some useful bits there I didn't realise about especially the manual boot open , now subscribed
Bought a 2003 Convertible Quattro TT as a surprise for the wife - had no idea about the hidden codes, the vent closing or the lowering the windows with the fob (which mine does not work for some reason). If you are answering questions, where is the best place to get the spare key that they show in the manual that you could hide in a magnet hide-a-key in case you did lock your keys in the car? Also, did not know about the manual trunk release (I did find the one for the gas). Have to look at that.
Regarding the last point, about locking your keys in the car. For about £15, I got a copy key (non-chip) cut from my only remote fob key, at Timpsons. I keep the copy key on my housekeys keyring, separate from the fob key. As I carry both keyrings whenever I go out in the car, if it ever happens that I lock my fob key inside, I still have the copy to open the car and retrieve them. Small price to pay rather than having to break a window, etc etc.
man i just bought yesterday my second hand TT quattro car and it was an amazing useful vidoe,,,,however info are some important or not that much but it is really amazing. i have some question about the car i bought ...and i feel the engine is not same as your car,,so let me check first all the informationabout my car first so i can have the proper question.thank you so much again.
Very cool, third visitor, hidden trunk lock , good stuff. I’ve owned it for 3 years. My problem is my drivers door key won’t turn left or right and I’m told you need that to reset certain things on the car likes the blower/heat ?
Found out the car auto locks when I started driving one day 😅 alarm went off and k had to pull over and take the key out to lock/unlock with the fob. So now I have to habit of hitting unlock right before I start the car every time. (Door switch is also bad)
thanks for this video, i didn't know about the third visor or the manual boot relese. buy the way i have locked my keys in the car , the central locking on my TT is great but as you pointed out it can catch you out !!
Good video, I knew most of it but good stuff for a new owner. Yep locked my keys in the boot twice, once at home and once at work where I had to get the spare brought from home! 😂👍... Didn't know about the third visor!
I bought a 2001 with a broken selector fork in the trans. I wanted to go through it anyway and the fork only cost 120 from Audi but when I was done I couldn't get the gas cap open. If you lock and unlock the car 5 or 6 times the button will work again. I didn't think it would work but it did on mine.
Mine locked me out on a track day at Donnington. Luckily I left the windows down a crack and got them out with a bendy grabber. Should have mentioned the knob sock for summer and winter... Gear knob that is... Stops you getting third degree burns or freezing to the gear knob.
I had seven very chilly hours on Exmoor a couple of years ago when my keys were locked in the car. I'd opened the boot to get some stuff out and put the key in the ignition (so I wouldn't leave them in the boot by accident...) RAC never found us. In the end, in desperation, I used a hardened hammer loaned by a kind motorist and smashed the quarterlight. I sourced a second-hand replacement from Ebay for not much money but had to pay £100 to get it properly fitted. Had I known, I'd have go the window switch replaced at the same time.
Amazing the number of people who don’t read the manual. Videos are easy tho. I do miss that mini 3rd sun visor. Top tip: get your Haldex oil changed every 20k miles.... actually I’d say 10-15k. It really gums up and can clog the haldex filter. I’ve seen metal swarf in a new car having done 20k, and nasty gummy oil in a 10 year old car that’s done low miles even after changing it twice. Would imagine the flappy paddle common jamming problem, which is an easy fix, is noteworthy too. And a mention to the hazard warning light containing a fuse.
Congratulations on a sensible and relevant list of items. My only problem with buying a TT (Which I am considering) is how much it will cost me to fly you top Adelaide, South Australia every 5000 kms.
Great video. Really useful. I didn't know half the things in there and I've had my TT a couple of months now, About the secondary water pump. What noise should the car be making for 10 mins after I turn it off? I haven't heard anything ? Is it noticeable?
Hey man great basic and important vid. Question for you or other gurus: how can one retrieve the blinker wire that fell inside the front fender, without tearing anything apart? It’s the passenger side (usa) blinker. Keep up the good work Sir!
@@BWSTT yo man, thx for the suggestion. I ended up doing a great cheat on that ideer...I used vice grips with the star bit to get the 4 bolts out , without removing the wheel 😎. Pulled the well out a tad a found it instantly. All good now!
Any knowledge in the central locking? My key fob has never worked. The lock button inside doesn't work although the unlock button does. Central locking with the key is very odd. it will lock the passenger door (from the drivers side) but won't unlock it. I only have one key with new batteries. Tried every single method I can find apart from hooking it up to a laptop. I do have a dodgy microswitch on the drivers side, when i manually unlock the car and get in the alarm starts going off. it does stop when I start the car. Keep up the great work, greetings from Scotland!
Got a mk1 last fall. How about some videos about replacing all the hoses with silicon? Think I may have a boost leak and just want to replace all the hoses.
