Interesting he brought up the "corresponding ransom" in relation to refuting the trinity. I remember a WT magazine from many years ago that had a very legalistic view of this. It stated that the man Jesus had to correspond EXACTLY with the perfect man Adam, in every way. However, according to jws, Jesus had a prehuman existence as the archangel Michael. When he was baptised Jesus became aware of this, along with all the knowledge he had before in heaven. So really, he was no longer just a human, but an "angel-man", not 100% only human. They also say that to pay the ransom, only the death of a perfect man was required. No more, no less. So where was the archangel Michael for the three days Jesus was dead? Honestly, they don't think things through.

Hi Dawn, I think all this confusion comes from the doublespeak of the JWs. Salvation for a Christian comes from faith in Christ's finished work for the redemption of our sins. Salvation for a JW has nothing to do with this, it has to do with surviving Armageddon and not being destroyed by Jehovah god - you do this by obeying the governing body as you would god. It clicked for me a few months ago. It’s watchtower using Christian terminology but having a different definition of words.

At the start you were trying to get through to him that salvation is by means of faith, and not by works. He sort of agreed, in his own way. Sort of ! However., the organisation absolutely teaches works for salvation. For example, you are barred from being baptised until you submit at least one field service report!! Tell me where that is in the bible!!! So you must perform works for the organisation to even qualify for baptism for salvation! They prove to be like the wicked first century religious leaders who prevented those on their way into the kingdom from getting in.

Proverbs 4:18 has nothing to do with changing doctrine or changes in teachings . The truth don't change . No where in the Bible does it say that the Holy Spirit is Gods active force . That is not what the Bible teaches .

When people are inspired they note others works and write based on what they see and understand. The words are not neccessarily written by God though he may have not them write untrue things. If we are inspired by an artist we paint like them not that they tell us exactly what to paint.

This is a more interesting JW. He is more meticulous in his studies. You sound tired here Dawn but you are doing a wonderful job. I know you haven't been well but you are soldering on.

I think you got under his skin, Dawn. I kind of like the man... and feel sorry for him. I think that he really was trying to understand where you were coming from, but was suffering moments of cognitive dissonance. He sounded like a serious minded student of WT publications, and because of that, I suspect he would've been familiar with your scriptural references throughout. I think he was needing time to digest your (more logical) interpretation of these. I think this is why he diverted to a subject he thought he had control over, ie. the trinity. Overall, I found him to be pleasant, but just putting forth an effort to assertively defend his beliefs. It's a real shame he hasn't communicated with you since. But I have a niggling feeling he is doing his homework. He sounds like the type of man who needs to be right.

So how come Jesus did not say he has three witnesses if the Holy SPIRIT is a person?(John 8 v 15 to 17) please also explain 1 Corinthians 15 v 27 to 29.? This is a scripture that says that God put all things under Jesus feet, but it goes on to say that when it says all things, it means all things ( EXCEPT) THE ONE WHO PUT ALL THINGS UNDER JESUS FEET........GOD. AND AFTER JESUS IS FINISHED DOING THE THINGS HIS FATHER SENT HIM TO DO, HE WILL HAVE TO ONCE AGAIN SUBJECT HIMSELF TO GOD.

To simplify the trinity. Example Dawn if your married your a wife, if you have children your a mother and your job could a nurse. So you are a wife, mother, nurse and yet you are the same person. What I would like to know we could argue all day over the bible but if you could ask the elder WHY DISSFELLOWSHIP PEOPLE and cut them off from their family over a difference of opinion ?
