Top class advice there Cas and only wish I was young again to have a bloody go, a very fit 68yo now. Got into the RAN Apprentices at age 17 but was blocked by my Parents. Was called up into the Army for National Service in 1972 but Whitlam came in and cancelled Conscription. Ended up doing 40 odd years in Telstra but would have loved to have had a go at the Infantry if I was young today. Keep the Sailor jokes coming that could have been me! Warwick QLD sends you best wishes. Subscriber #47

Hello cas , back in 2021 I applied I went to an office located in Sydney and spoke to a member in uniform but didn’t eventually go through it because I have a history of drug abuse ( marijuana ) but I quit and I also quit cigarettes last month because I recently applied again I applied for infantry soldier, aviation ground crew and armoured vehicle driver I’ve done my assessment and spoken over the phone for medical checks I’m now waiting for the you session. the truth is cas I always make sure I help the older’s where ever I go and I’ve worked out of state in trades many times and meet hundreds of people some veteran soldiers that’s boosted my confidence into this. I want to do more cas i can do more for my people I feel that what I do is not enough i want to do infantry soldier and only go further and higher cas I want to serve I want to pave my future with the adf and put my self in the front line with the rest of military brother hood and follow the path of the Anzac’s and finish my infantry training. I hope my you session works out well for me because this is something I’ve been thinking about for three years I really hope it works out cas but thank you for his video it’s really helping me.

P K almost never mate Navy are considered operational while they are ever aboard their vessel etc but you’d also find the majority of the Navy team was made up of Marines either way, a lot of US Marines fail to mention while telling you that they are a proud marine that they are also an office clerk and not a gun fighter etc

In The Trenches With Cas . Just come across your channel and will need to see some more of your content. Quick question. What is your background, obviously infantry. I am ex-Navy and yes when we are on the ship and we turn left from Sydney we are operational. For the waries fully ammunition’s, ready for the worst scenario. The crew has gone through months of workups and training. We always got shit from pongos. I did 23 years and deployed nine times, one Vietnam. The shortest was six months. Sorry not on social media. My nephew is at the Royal Australian Military College. He's going to be a Captain and field commander. In -5 degree mornings he swims 100 metres and runs 500 metres. Gets $40,000 a year for getting a uni degree and pays $200 a fortnight rent. The pluses just keep going on. Never say die.

Hey Cas! I have recently been watching your videos and they are all super helpful and I really appreciate all the effort you put in to them to give us the best advice you can :) I have a question regarding the Defense University Scholarship (DSU). I am graduating at the end of this year and am really keen on studying nursing and then going on to specialise in emergency and trauma care in the defense force. I discovered the DSU and thought it was a great idea and have been talking to some mates of mine that are in the army, however, I was just wondering whether you would recommend this option? Or just study and then go to the defense force without the scholarship...? I don't know whether you know much about this one, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

And will I need to go through all the tests again? (I assume yes and am absolutely ready for that) thankyou for taking the time to read this and hopefully I get a reply from you

Evelyn and micheal Davis ha hey there well it depends on whether you are Evelyn or Michael mate 1 Commando will still need you to go into Army Reserve Infantry then go into the selection process from your Infantry unit.. Works the same way for Regular unless you are in the direct entry then I’d say 43 is to old. So in summary not to old for reserves but yes to old for regular. Massive difference between being old and many transferable military skills in an infantry Battalion as opposed to being 43 no military experience etc.. I’d say go for and leave me in the loop make the best version of you mate

Every soldiers first role is to be able and ready to take the life of a threat regardless of their corp’s allocation therefore will spend a lot of time at Kapooka basic training on weapons safety, shooting and medical casualty care.. If you are unwilling to take the life or protect your team by all means including deadly I’d say go be a paramedic or a nurse instead ..

Hey inky, I of course have heard of the Gap Year program but I am not a fan it should be called Army reserve express because that is all it is basically National Service for 1 year followed by part time Army Reserve. If you wish to be a reservist and can fit in a single whole year while balancing Uni, family or other situation it's great but the Gap Year will not allow you to be taken seriously by the regular Army as they know your already nearly out the door and you also won't know what it's like to be in the army if your only there for 1 year in the express experience. I will do a video today on this one mate in response cool.

Gday Cas, Quick question mate. Since when has flat feet been a disqualifier? When I applied last for Reserve Infantry Soldier in 2018, there was a bit of a fuck around with seeing a podiatrist and getting insoles for my shoes, which on its own took months, but I wasn't immediately told I couldn't apply due to my flat feet. Just wondering if that's something they're taking even more seriously these days?

Flat feet disqualify on every country in regards to infantry and for very good reason but my advice is let the medical session decide on the severity and decide on your eligibility especially for Infantry I suggest you also apply for Armoured CORP’s (less on your feet and never really carrying packs) if you want more in depth one on one come join us on Patreon in the black legion for personal calls, mentorship and advice.. Hi Cas, I am trying to join the army, currently have a YOU session coming up on the 27th Feb. I am currently 20, 21 in September, but I actually have a conduct agreement though. Bit of back story, I was with someone, they were really bad, really dillisional, tried anything to ruin my life, when I finally got rid of them they put a VRO (Violent Restraining Order) on me, I have never caused any harm so i fought this in court, we had 2 choices, either come to a conduct agreement, or continue the restraining order for 2 months as she didn't have enough evidence and needed to adjourn court until a later date to gather more evidence. I still have another year left, so I guess my question is what do I do? Will the army still accept me? If not is there something I can do so they will accept my application? Thanks for your time.

Mate there would be some questions of you having fast air pilot and infantry in the same choice line up.
