Suicide because of anxiety, no friends or relationships, lack of money and job. Agoraphobia and OCD keeping them away from doctors. Homelessness. Medication problems and side effects. Yeah I believe this statistic.

I’ve just been diagnosed with Autism back in August 2023 at the age of 37. I’ve tried taking my life on 3 separate occasions throughout my life due to breakdowns. The first attempt being when I was a child. I can understand why suicide is such a big factor in this alarming statistic as when I was diagnosed, I haven’t had any support provided as the NHS are so ill-equipped when it comes to Autism for higher functioning late diagnosed adults. I’ve been doing my own research to try and learn more about who I actually am. Watching channels like this and reading books have helped me answer some of the questions I have but there’s still such a long way to go. I feel like the neurotypically dominated world would prefer I wasn’t part of it if I try to be the real me. It’s so sad feeling this way. The ignorance towards me regarding my Autism at times makes me sick. I suffer from severe anxiety and it’s screwing with my nervous system too so when I go to pick up a glass of water in the kitchen, I get a momentary dizziness and it feels like vertigo. I’ve broken several glasses as a result when washing up. I’m finding it all torture as I feel like I could lose my beautiful neurotypical wife too because I’m just a burden on her with my condition. Your channel is amazing. Keep the content coming 😊

You Matter and Life is precious 💕🙏💕. You are a blessing to your family and others. “You are Loved” by Josh Groban, “ Strong” by Anne Wilson, “Hold On” by Katy, “I was Lost now I am Found “ by Natalie and Corey, “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban are songs that help me realize I am not alone in this world. I am trying to help my son who is not accepting of his diagnosis. I know I have tendencies. I am heartbroken 💔. There is no help for people 25 years and older. I am going to find out how to start an organization to help others. My faith helps me remain strong. You Matter. Sending Love and Prayers of Protection-Psalm 91 for you and your family 💕🙏💕. not surprised, as a group we trouble finding and keeping jobs even with college educations, so we are less financially secure, then we also tend to have trouble with relationships and social networks, so more likely to be isolated and alone. not a good combo for long life.

Some professionals in ASD aren't even aware that this IS a reality... Depression and dark thoughts, domestic accidents, stress, heavy psychiatry medications and other psychiatry mistreatments, run aways and even kidnapping, drowning, ... People should be more aware about that especially since this concerns every type of au tism.

I was diagnosed over 20 years ago in school with Aspergers Syndrome. I'm currently age 38 and feel as though I have the capability to live and work up until my mid to late 70's considering my reasonably positive approach to diet, exercise and work. I'm disappointed to hear of a shorter life expectancy for Autistics / Aspergers seeing how we're all part of the same human race.

Really? Well I may not know what its like to be not the autism spectrum but I do have anxiety issues and I was able to talk to many people when I was younger and even this year but lately , my sleep schedule has been a wreck , I ditched almost all my old friends entirely for personal reasons and I'm still coping with trying to confess to my crush. I feel slightly depressed / bored ( only when I have nothing to do tho ) , sad (when I think about the past and people in the past) and curious as to where I'm gonna be in the next 70 years , I know for certain that I'll live a long life and have a long life expectancy but the main thing getting to me right now in life is : Loneliness But anyways I sort of rambled on there for a tad bit too long,anyways I hope you keep going and never give up. for the future 😄

I was working as a construction laborer / carpenter last year and I experienced all these issues. Along with chronic bullying that made me feel unsafe physically that had me abusing a anabolic substance called RAD-140 which has messed with my psyche a bit not good not bad just different but fucked up that some 18 year old kid who just wanted to make a good living and maybe some friends has been turned into a misanthrope who doesn’t have any faith in people and now sees them as an means to an end. Hopefully il be able to get into real estate I have no purpose in life far as people I never bonded with my family at all they kinda just excluded me from stuff, I wanna make a lot of money and have a lot of power. I don’t know if anyone else is in the same boat but if you are good luck your gonna need it.

This breaks my heart. And reading a lot of the comments people have made is so sad. I'm AuDHD n just found out in my 40s. Im now 46. But my daughter who is also AuDHD has just turned 16. She's been feeling suicidal since she was 13. She was diagnosed with autism spectrum condition at age 4 and a half. Then ADHD and OCD at 11. Her mental health has really deteriorated the last few years. It's so hard for her. She says she doesn't want to exist anymore and that life is too hard. She's in a great high school that really meets her needs yet she still struggles so much. It's the worst thing in the world cos I don't know how to help her. Thinking how bad she already feels in her teens. God knows how she'll cope in adulthood. It really worries and scares me to think about it.

ASD man dxd in his 40's here (I still like the terms 'high functioning', 'hfasd' and 'aspie' because they make me feel more accurate to the distinction but I understand why they want to remove the terms) - and yeah it hasn't been the easiest. Especially parenting with my kids and not understanding my pretty severe meltdowns, general weirdness, etc. so it was really hard not to think I was just a POS (didn't help that my Dad always called me things like that growing up because I never operated to his standards, but I think he may also be a bit autistic and totally undiagnosed as he had some similar behaviors as me...). Anyhow (sorry for the tangent, I do that alot) something that helped me *immensely* with my self-worth the last couple years was reading and applying as best as I am able, was both reading Kamal Ravikant's "Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It" (please consider giving it to your daughter and maybe you will love it as well) and getting into/practicing Neville Goddard. Specifically I tried Neville Goddard's "Ladder Exercise" AND IT WORKED 💪. I've since gone to apply it to many things in life and I promise you even if you think it's cheesy woo-woo 'too good to be true' bs, if you put it to the test as Neville says and even try it out of pure desire to prove me wrong (take it as a challenge) you will very quickly begin to develop an entirely new outlook on life. Our minds really do have a lot to do (maybe everything) with how our experience plays out, and I urge anyone who's willing - even if they don't believe it a tiny bit (maybe even especially then) to test it and see. It will change your world. (Neville was a famous dancer and New Thought speaker/author in the early 1900s and all of his books and lectures are available freely online - there is a lot of material available but I would recommend 'The Law & The Promise' as a good place to start, and then '5 lectures' to continue *but please, please try the Ladder Exercise even if just to be able to prove me wrong!

I’m sort to hear this Dawn. Having attempted suicide 3 times in my life and the first as a child, I can honestly say that leading up to those points, I was in the worst place I’ve been mentally. Sit your daughter down and let her know that you are there as her friend aswell as her Mum. One of the greatest deterrents of suicidal thoughts is talking about triggers and anxiety that is bringing it on. Everyday is a battle mentally for me to not stray off the road I’m on. I know that I’m only a trauma away from another mental breakdown and it’s scary. It breaks my heart reading stories like yours and knowing that there are so many the very same. I am having to learn who I am at 37. It’s so difficult as my wife doesn’t understand me and I’m terrified I’ll lose her oneday as a result of my Autism as she’s neurotypical. I wish you the best of luck for the future for both yourself and your daughter 😊

Perhaps ASD people over maybe 40/50 were not diagnosed, not even aware of the condition and were just the ‘strange’ ‘quirky’ and ‘eccentrics’ that were more able to adapt in an older more simple society. I wonder if some of the creative geniuses from the past would have thrived today with all the connective technologies. Or would it be too overwhelming to thrive? Today’s society could potentially be the reason for this statistic.
@aaloha2902
@aaloha2902 8 месяцев назад
Maybe the high functioning ones were called quirky, but getting the right diagnosis as a woman has been a journey of many misdiagnosed ’labels’ in many of my late diagnosed peers. Many doctors preferred ‘personality disorder’, ‘bipolar’, etc perceived from their POV instead of figuring out what went on on the inside. I was told I was ‘just very sad’ for years, even though as a woman with ASD I’ve been severely abused, bullied and excluded from society and for that alone C-PTSD should have been the right label for those symptoms, but MD’s don’t listen very well and only look out for labels they are familiar with. I think the numbers for the undiagnosed untimely deaths were just statistically added to the numbers from the other labels that were frequently used for women with undiagnosed ASD.
