To get the best from employees, the HR team needs to be more human. show love, care and concern to your employees.
A simple gesture of sending them a personalized birthday and work anniversary mail can put a big smile on them and make the day of your employees.
Banks are known to be our loyal friends with Birthday SMS every year, how about receiving the same from your employer? It can make a huge connection and more impact than that of the bank.
In this edition of Microsoft PowerNight, I will be teaching the community how to leverage the low-code automation tool (Microsoft Power Automate) with SharePoint to automate employees' Birthday and Work Anniversary.

Hey great video, thanks. like you watching trying and learning. i have a question re this one. i fail to see any form getting the DOB in this format i.e dbirth mbirth if done on Microsoft forms am pretty sure people will use the date picker. how can if that is used i add the same.

Hi Simon Drayton, thanks for your question. In this scenario, we assumed the HR already have the list of the employees details and can easily put the dates in that format on Excel before uploading to SharePoint list. For date selected using the date picker on MS Forms, I will dona short video to describe how to manipulate it. Please do watch out here. I will add to this comment once posted.

I followed the process step by step and it works without problems. I have just one question: How do I change the sender of the email, I mean, instead of using my account we prefer to use an HR account. Thanks again.

Hi Andrew, thank you for your question. To change the sender to HR account, kindly share the flow with the HR Account. I assume this HR account has Office 365 License as well. Once shared, just open the flow with HR account and locate the send an email action card(s). Click the more option button and change the account to hr

You know I made the change, retested the flow, and I'm still showing myself as the sender instead of the HR account.

This is great! But I’m getting an error that Column ‘DBirth’ does not exist. This appears in the Get Items inputs. I set up my file/list exactly as shown in the video. Suggestions?

Even though your comment is old but still i will share the fix incase someone else has this issue, The column name you see in the list isn't the true name, you have to go to your list then > options (gear sign top right corner) > list settings > you will find all the columns below, press the column that you want to insert and look at the URL, at the end of it there is an equal sign, the actual column name is the name after the sign. Mine was Field_1 for example. hope this helps.

Hi Dan, Yes, we can use Excel instead of SharePoint. I don't have a video on this but it is similar. You only have to ensure the excel is formatted as table and stored on OneDrive rather than your PC.

Hi Benedick, I learn by doing and teaching. I try to build something different every week and these use cases often lead to searching the web for guides which I can customized to suit my need. I then put this new found knowledge in a way that people can learn about it hence my RU-vid videos. I teach here so that I can learn twice. Finding useful resources on my RU-vid channel is your first stage of learning. Try to learn more and replicate. The more you do, the more you learn. All the best

This is really great video, I was doing it for work anniversary but I am getting this error - "Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '1' and column '17363': 'The template language function 'int' was invoked with a parameter that is not valid. The value cannot be converted to the target type." - Could you let me know where I am going wrong. This is what I have put in condition - sub(int(outputs('CurrentYear')), int(outputs('YearJoined')))

Try removing the YearJoined action card and add it again. This error often comes up if the variable added is not a Text. int() only work with a text or string input

Hi Revati, is it the email that is not displaying? If yes, you might want to check the file size of the image. If it's large, it might not display on the outlook desktop. Kindly let me know more about the challenge.

Hi Ankur, I want to assume that you have created the group email for your organisation. If they have, just get it from the IT Team or create one. You must have Admin access to create a group email where everyone in your organisation is part of. In the send an email action card, go to the advance section, you will see CC field. Add the group email to the CC field and everyone will be copied when a birthday mail get sent out
