In this video, I begin my hike at Woolsthorpe Manor the birthplace of the esteemed scientist and mathematician, Isaac Newton. Born in 1642, he spent his youth in the countryside of Lincolnshire before attending Cambridge University.
The Great Plague forced him back to Lincolnshire where he made many of his important discoveries which have contributed massively to the world as we know it. I visit the National Trust cafe for a coffee and scone and then make my way to Colsterworth church to see the Remembrance Day preparations and to spot the sundial which Isaac Newton engraved as a child.
Afterwards, I continue the hike from Stoke Rochford church and make my way through the grounds to absorb the beautiful autumnal colour.

Thanks buddy 😀 At the end of the day, as long as the scone gets eaten, that’s all that matters. 🤓 It was a great hike this one - really enjoyed it.

In the museum section, in the glass case, I noticed an open antiquarian copy of Newton's masterpiece "Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica". I am assuming that it cannot be a 1687 first edition, because if it is, they are insane to keep it there, in such a low security place. A copy was sold at auction in the United States in December 2016 for $ 3.7 million.

That’s an amazing fact. The National Trust volunteers were very knowledgeable and keen to share their time with the public. I’m sure they would have known. It was probably a copy I’m guessing. If not, wow!

Can the admission paid by card? Or I need some cash? Thanks

Hello! I believe you can use both but Woolsthorpe Manor is now closed for the winter I think. More info can be found on their website for clarification. Thanks for watching. It certainly is an interesting place!

There is a "Newton's Apple Tree" growing outside Trinity College Cambridge, where he studied as an undergrad and later as a fellow. Obviously that was planted much more recently for tourists and such. "Nature and her ways lay hid in night, God said, let Newton be ! And all was light !" - - Alexander Pope
