I hate Ultron in this. In the comics I've read, he seemed unstable, fighting both heroes and villains alike. He was cold, unemotional, and more unstable then Sonic 06.

I think it's funny how the worst character in Avengers 1 is the best character in Avengers 2.

What makes less sense is that the bullets go clean through the car. The only reason Hawkeye and the kid survived was because the bullets stopped firing before they could even get to them, meaning Quicksilver's death wasn't just poorly edited but completely unnecessary

I would have really liked it if Black Widow and Hulk were to form a bond that wasn't necessarily romantic? What's so wrong with having a deep, serious friendship? It would've been different and interesting.

It would have been amazing if Ultron used 'charisma' as a tool, so when he was discovered as this evil being, he just turned off all the manipulative personality, to become a killing machine, since pretending is not an option anymore.

I really hated how they changed Ultron's design. I loved the comic book design it seemed menacing and uncanny with that perminant grin like shape on his face. But this design is cheesy as fuck

It's so crazy how any exposure to the MCU fandom starts to distort your viewpoint on things like Quicksilver's death. Like one day the whole fandom somehow unanimously decided that it was the biggest and most tragic part of AoU so that's kind of how I remember it, but then when I go back and actually rewatch the movie, it's like, "Oh, he...he was barely in this at all and ultimately didn't have much impact on the plot." I keep forgetting that when I see so many fans making up these overreaching headcanons like, "OMG CLINT WAS LIKE A SECOND DAD TO PIETRO AND WANDA SO THAT'S WHY PIETRO SAVED HIM AND IT'S SO TRAGIC!" Same with various romantic pairings, with people insisting that two random characters are SO OBVIOUSLY SOULMATES YOU GUYS, until I remember that there's no real canonical evidence to support it.

Age of Ultron was basically a movie to set up every movie after it. almost every Marvel movie after Ultron has referenced it

Scarlett Johansson was pregnant during filming, so many of her scenes were scheduled early in filming before she began to show. To help hide her pregnancy later in filming, three stunt doubles were hired. This caused a lot of confusion amongst the other actors since, according to them, all of the stunt women looked very similar to Johansson. Chris Evans stated that it got to the point where he would say hello and start a conversation with one of them only to realize midway that the person he was talking to wasn't Johansson. Ultimately, some scenes used CGI to hide Johansson's belly

Yeah. Ultron in the comics was a more cold and calculated... because he was a MACHINE. He was intelligent, and in fact in the comics the heroes lost to him very quickly, because he stays back, learns what he can, THEN stikes. He isn't the "I'll send a hundred thousand robots and I'll win!" Kind of guy. All in all, the movie ultron is not that good.

Funny there was an Comic that came out around the same time called Avengers: Rage of Ultron which IMO is definitely a better title for this film.

Iron Man never really comes out of retirement. In Iron Man 3, we see he has PTSD from the Battle of New York and starts to develop the idea that he needs to build a "suit of armor around the world". That's what he's doing at the beginning of this movie. He's creating a bunch of robots with A.I. so he can put them around the world in case of an alien invasion. The reason he suits up is because he realizes the mind sone Loki had is the best way to get the best A.I. available. If he had never created Ultron on accident, he would have never put on the suit again (unless Thanos came or something).

Honestly, this is how I feel about most Marvel films. They're for the most part pretty forgettable, in my eyes. I'd say Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Winter Soldier are the only Marvel films I've thoroughly enjoyed.

I remember watching the ads and freaking out because ultron was a cold blooded, or I guess non blooded robot that wanted to kill humans. Emotionless, efficient, relentless. He was so dissapointing. If the ads were as bad as the movie, at least I would have been unimpressed but not dissapointed

Your comment about the bullets going through Quicksilver and hitting Hawkeye are wrong. Quicksilver did not shield them with his body, he pushed the car in front of them. QS is to the left of Hawkeye and the kid, not in front of them. Also wrong about Cap having no arc. Cap's arc in this film follows him trying to find his place in the world and letting go of the past. Ultron tells him that he can't live without a war, which is true and actually shows us a more flawed side of Steve that we have not seen this far. In his vision, he sees Peggy and the life he lost. At Hawkeye's farm, he briefly turns around and looks in at Hawkeye's family. Again, the life he lost/could've had. At the end of the film, Tony retires and considers "taking a page out of Barton's book" and starting a family to which Steve replies "family, stability, the guy that wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago" and calls the New Avengers facility his home. He is seemingly at peace now. I very much enjoyed this movie. Does it have some obvious flaws and wasted potential? Of course. And you make a lot of good points, but I think your "eh whatever" attitude keeps you from really reading into some of the details and depth this film had.

i laughed more at ralph trying to eat the giant chocolate bar than i laughed at anything in AoU. A low bar, since i didn't laugh during AoU but i still laughed at this.

The reason the Manderine 'twist' was lame is that it left us with a villain pretty much the same as the villains from the last two Iron Man films. Manderine would have been a type of villain we hadn't seen before in an Iron man film.

I love how the children's tv show got Ultron right, and this movie failed so hard. In "Avenger's, Earth's Mightiest Hero's" Ultron is cold, calculating, and robotic. He had an intimidating presence, and actually thought through his plans. This one is just like 'oh, I guess I'll just make an army of me and hope it works out. No need to strategize and try to outsmart my enemy. I can just overpower them right?' Meanwhile, cartoon Ultron was willing to change his plans if he saw they weren't working. He was able to cripple the Avenger's multiple times. What does movie Ultron manage to do? Kill a member of the Avenger's that wasn't even really a member. Cartoon Ultron? Get's rid of his biggest threats (Like Hulk and Thor), then distract the rest while he execute's his plans elsewhere, or pick's them off one by one. He only fought them as a group to either keep them busy, or as a last resort. This movie could have been great, but instead, it took the path of what worked before.

You mentioned a lot about important characters not dying in this movie. Civil War would make your skin crawl.

The Ultron voice actor walking in front of the green screen made me cringe really hard and I'm not sure why.

I just realized you are the exact opposite of cinemawins, he's able to make people like a movie that they didn't like before you're able to make people dislike movies that they used to like.

I remember that just a few days before the movie released , I was thinking to myself that I was soon going to be watching one of the best superhero movies of all time which was quite like Avengers , but was also much more in vein of the Dark Knight . That was what my brother thought as well . But , after I saw the review score for the film and saw it was at 86% with only 56 reviews , I remember my heart sinking a bit . I thought that the critics who had seen the film were stricter than the rest and that the movie was still going to rock , so I tempered my expectations but was still insanely hyped for the film . Just as the film reached the 30 minute mark , something daunted over me . Up till that point , the film was nothing really besides a string of jokes followed by one dark moment with a lot of gravity behind it followed by more jokes . It was at that point that I realized that I was watching a different film than the one that had been marketed and promised . As we finished watching the film , my brother turned and told me that he thought that the film was good though it didn't reach the level of the first Avengers and I remember agreeing with him there . But I knew that something was off for me . When I woke the next morning , all of the realization suddenly hit me and I felt crushed . Age Of Ultron wasn't an Avengers film for me . It didn't even seem like a Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy for me . For me , I believe that the Avenger crossover movies should be the main event .They should be what the rest of the films have been building towards and they should be the culmination of the story arcs and character beats set up till that point . And Age of Ultron was the opposite of that . It didn't really culminate much of any of the character's journeys and was instead basically a set up for what was to come next for the MCU . Though the film might have had major consequences or stakes for the overall MCU , it didn't feel like it . It felt like a run of the mill story where the Avengers fighting Ultron was just routine work for them and it felt like a CW episode . I would say that Civil War was the true second Avengers movie as it was basically everything that Age Of Ultron was supposed to be and so were Infinity War and Endgame . They were all event films which felt like a culmination for the characters and the story up till that point . They were obviously setting up for the future , but they never compromised themselves and actually made their own main arcs as the priority .
