Whilst avoidant attachers do not intentionally aim to hurt or mislead their partners, they must be mindful of how their initial enthusiasm and behaviour comes off on the partners their dating especially if they shut down when things start getting more real and they cannot sustain their enthusiasm due to their fears of intimacy and commitment.

I relate. Mine told me he loved me multiple times and planned things with me. I'm a secure, but I trust nothing now. He always put off meeting so one day I have enough and left him on read left it at that. You're not going to message me all day every day even at work all the way until you fall asleep, having me thinking you're feeling things too just to punk out on me.

Hate hearing that, doing normal stuff is going to feel like skydiving for a while. I had to make a firm decision to NOT be traumatised or make any excuses, but yeah, honest, wholesome people still appear as knives ready to strike.

Anyways, I'm so over it because for months I started getting weird feelings about him. I knew that he would flake out. Dismissive avoidants to me are people with a disorder that I don't want to be burdened with.

I think I’ve just encountered one of these. Not dating long, but everything was going great, the more we met, the stronger the connection and he goes from saying he can’t wait to see me this week, to 24 hours later, ending things, saying we are incompatible and it’s been bugging him. Which was news to me. He’d constantly told me how happy he was and how much I made him smile and now I was referred to as an infatuation. I’m genuinely heartbroken and I called him out on all of the things he said to me and how much he led me on and then I got blocked.

Too late. Actually i was fortunate enough (and secure enough) to put the brakes on FULL STOP, before she had a chance to break up with me. I still feel tremendous pain, but when i stop to consider the emotional shytshow i was experiencing, enough was enough

Mine wanted to travel overseas. Visit me among my family overseas. Spend a month. Finally did it after years of pump faking and communicating he tells me that he’s never thought of me as being his girlfriend. We are in our 40s. I have every reason to believe this guy has had a crush on me since undergrad. 😂 ummm…okay buddy.

exactly what I lived through. ILY, vacation, etc... then, I'm feeling overwhelmed and not ready for a serious relationship, bye, back on dating sites almost immediately. Sick sick sick. I'd love to send this video to her but she's on her own journey. Not my business anymore.

We're all narcissists, nearly all of us grow beyond it rather than operate from it, and even then, only a few are properly disordered by that. This avoidant label seems to cover some of the same territory but only as much as it applies to attachment and relationships?
