"THE ONE" is how they refer to the fanbase, so this song is kind of an ode to the fans. It was on their second studio album.

This is an old song - dates back to their 2nd album Metal Resistance and is their tribute to their fans (called The One). The original was in Japanese but they later debuted an English version to show their thanks to their international fans who learned all their Japanese song lyrics.

Great reaction. As already in the comments below 'The One' was on the second album in 2016. The Japanese edition of the album has a half and half English-Japanese version, the international edition has the full English version that the girls had challenged themselves to do as a mark of respect and appreciation to the foreign fans who that noticed had been learning Japanese to sing along with them as they toured the world. This is effectively their love letter to the fans. This is an "unfinished" version ie it is stripped back with piano and strings only (also it is very much shortened having just the first verse). The full version has the drums and guitar throughout, but they also do a version which starts like this with piano and strings - then, just as you were saying, the drums and guitars all join in half way through. The official video is well worth seeing - that is the Japanese version. Legend S is possibly the best unfinished start going into the full version, Tokyo Dome had the extended full English version, Stairway to Living Legend probably the most emotional 'unfinished' version..

Momo is undoubtfully doing good and I know it's been 6 years, but I can't help it, I miss Yui. Another slow-ish song from Babymetal is SHINE, check out the fan edit for Tokyo Olympics 2020, that one touch deep :)

I'm very surprised you've never heard this song before! As mentioned by others in your commend section, this song is fairly old, and has been performed when Yui was still in the group. I'd recommend checking out The One Official to see this song the way it was initially intended. This song is a loveletter by Babymetal to the fanbase. The part that surprises me however, is that you've never heard this song before since I think this is the song that Babymetal has changed more times than any other song. I think there are at least 4 versions of this song now, maybe even 5 versions now... Anyhow, it is a lovely song. I'm glad they did this song!

The original is a prog ballad and is the second song in a duo of songs that were once one song when they were being produced. It's counterpart, and the first part Tales of the Destinies has only ever been played once live and is incredibly complex and faster pace compared to the calmer The One.

Just a beautiful performance, pure talent & professionalism. "The One" has always had an English and Japanese version. The song is dedicated the The One, the Babymetal fanbase. At the end of their 2019 world tour, Momoko was the only Avenger still with them. She performed with them for the entire concert series at Budakon before the shutdown. Most of The One (including me) very much wanted Momoko to become a full member. We got our wish. But we ALL will always miss Yuimetal!! Do you know what Riho and Kano are doing now?? The other Avengers.
