Lol Randy.. had to giggle at that. By the way men lose testosterone as they age it's called andropause which is similar to menopause in women. No matter the gender we both carry estrogen and testosterone. And we both carry many other hormones as well. You're doing great Renee. I went into peri menopause at age 45 while actually on the birth control pill. I discussed the history of my cycle with my doctor, she thought it was just weird. She never considered that the reason I was put on the pill in the first place was my cycle started at age 11 then stopped completely at age 15 .. no one tested me for PCOS .. but looking at my health and life now in hindsight pretty sure that is what it is/was.... I'm like you thankfully no pads or tampons to carry etc... no cramps etc..

Hi Renee and hello to all the women. I am 69 and will turn 70 November 12th. I have Never had a Hot Flash. I had no problems with my period. It was regular and On Time Every Month! I Counted On it! I believe I felt and feel fortunate that my Body was working properly! I missed it when it tapered off and out at around 48 years of age. I started my period 5 days before I was 11 years old.....So Menopause for me was a Breeze!! No Problems! I feel so Happy and Grateful that I can write this.

At age 32, after the birth of my second son, I stopped having periods. I never got them again since I had become pregnant. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure which is basically early menopause. It can even happen to teenagers. I had never been so excited in my life to know that at age 32, I was done having periods!!! And I never experienced any menopause symptoms either. No hot flashes. Nothing!! Win Win in my book!! That was almost 20 years ago and I'm still loving it!!

All those organs removed are located below your Umbilicus. The best thing you can do is exercise and strengthen that core. After menopause is when you get that spare tire that goes around to your back! You can start by just holding your stomach in and trying to imagine your belly button touching back toward your spine and holding that a few seconds. A strong core and good posture (which you have already) will keep your insides healthy and your aging strong!

I’m struggling with the shortened torso and have the back fat I never had before and a crease above me belly button. My under wear fits different too. I went to the physio and he gave me some core exercises for diastasis recti without even examining me. I’m petite and always been slim but I know have a fupa and protruding lower tummy. Other wise I’m feeling great after my hysterectomy.

I didn't have a hysterectomy, but I went through menopause with very few symptoms. Similar to all the women in my family. Although, I share your opinion about no longer having periods. It is a freedom that is so enjoyable. I started going through peri-menopause in my late 40's & fully menopausal at about 52...I love my life without that monthly issue. Hi Renee! Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I am 52 yrs old and just had a complete hysterectomy on 11/9. Like you I had fibroids. I also had cysts on my ovaries, severe scar tissue from an ablation in 2009 and light case of endometriosis. I am on recovery Day 3 and so far our stories are extremely parallel. It’s good to know what could happen, what’s normal and how to stay positive moving forward in my recovery journey. Everything you described I have experienced except I have had light bleeding everyday. I see my dr next week for my 2 week follow-up. Can’t wait to start feeling energized and good! Until then I am taking it slow one day at a time. No rush. ❤️‍🩹

You're video is so encouraging for me, thank you. I started menopause at 50, now I'm 68 and having problems with a fibroid tumor. I have heavy bleeding and pain on my right side just above my hip. It puts pressure on my bladder and bowels and I pee all of the time. Sometimes I feel as if I have to have a bowel movement, but then nothing happens when I go to the bathroom. I feel bloated a lot as well. The gyno told me it's unusual for post menopausal women to have fibroids like this. She said she thinks it's been there for a very long time, and I agreed. It's probably been growing for a long time. A hysterectomy is most likely in my near future and I was so fearful of it, but after watching your video I'm encouraged and feel more confident that it's the right choice.

I had a total hysterectomy at 36 due to endometriosis. It didn’t take long to get the right script for HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) Felt so much better. No more pain. Healed nicely. I think if you can help people out there or reasure them then I'm all for it!😊 I've suffered most of my adult life with Endometriosis, changed my Gynecologist at about 30 and went on a medication to stop my pariods. No bleeding, no pain right. So now at 52 I've not had a pariod in over 20 year's. Best thing that ever happened to me, it's been so worth it! See what happens when I go into Menapaus. One issue though is I really think the older we get we seem to get a little tummy fat! 💖🤗 Love to you all from Germany.

First of all, that burnt orange looks fantastic on you! Love the new couch; can't wait to see the full reveal when you finish redoing your office. Lastly, make sure to keep up your core exercises (when you feel up to it) and Kegel exercises, as a hysterectomy can make you more prone to bladder issues down the road due to weakened abdominal muscles. I laughed at your story about the estrogen patch and Randy being afraid of getting "girl hormone cooties" from it!

Good for you for sharing a few details about some of the most personal, private surgery anybody can have. That was very brave and courageous of you. I’m sure many will benefit from you sharing your experience. What appears to be your new couch in your office is absolutely stunning! I noticed it before you said anything about it. Aside from being (most likely) brand new, that couch looks *so good* in your office. Can’t wait for you to do a video about your whole office redo. Boy, did your talking about being scared to death before your surgery really hit home with me. Like you, my hysterectomy was my first surgery and I was scared to death too. And I had very specific concerns that were very scary, just like you. And, just like you, my fears were completely unfounded. Everyone’s story is unique. I can't tell you how reassuring this is, and really appreciate you taking the time to share this. Mine is coming up in 2.5 months, and I am in the same boat. Other than having my wisdom teeth removed, it's my only surgery and I'm so anxious/nervous about what to expect. I've been reading other's experiences on Reddit and just found your series. I especially appreciate your thoughts on having your ovaries removed. I do not know yet if mine will need to be removed, but my initial thought was to keep them if at all possible. But you make some really good points that I hadn't considered, so I feel much better about the possibility that they will be removed. I'm so glad that it has helped you so much, and your story definitely replaces some of the anxiety with hope for the future, and excitement about being my energetic, pain-free self again 🌞

Wish I had access to more information about 10 years ago - I went thru menopause as a result of an elective surgery - didn't know it would cause menopause however! Would have tried "the patch" if I had known. Your's and Randy's text made me laugh!

Thank you for your videos. There isnt alot of info out there. I am 43 and 3 weeks post op from my total laprospic hysterectomy. I still have my overies but not my uterus, cervix, and tubes. I was feeling great and the 3 week mark yesterday my stomach got real sore and full or swollen feeling again, woth alittle more tinged spotting when wiping. Of course it raised my anxiety and scared me. Hoping its is just a 3 week thing and will get back to normal soon. Your videos has helped me alot on calming my anxiety and helping to know the next stages of recovery. Like i said there isnt alot of info out there.

I'm two and a half weeks post my TAH + oophorectomy. My story is very similar to yours and I totally agree with you 100% about the ovaries. I'm 53. I didn't want the perimenopause symptoms even without my uterus. And as far as I was concerned I only had a few egg producing years left before I would experience menopause anyway so I was just delaying the inevitable. And I happen to be an oncology nurse. Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect and doesn't present a lot of symptoms until it can be quite advanced. I don't want to go into details or unlock a new fear in anyone. This is how I feel. In essence, in the capacity of my profession it's one of the cancers that really scares me. So, I completely applaud your decision. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It's one of the only ones that I have been able to relate to fully.

Thank you for sharing this info, I have a consultation for hysterectomy one week from now, i’ve been experiencing perimenopausal symptoms for 3+ years already, originally my thoughts were to keep my ovaries because for whatever reason a majority of the time I hear that that’s better, but honestly with how I felt over the past 3+ years I think it would be better to have the ovaries removed as well

Hello! Thank you for sharing your journey. I found you a week after having the same surgery you had. I also had fibroids, 2 of them totaling just over 10 pounds. I had just turned 60 when I had my surgery in June of this year. I went through menopause around age 45 without much difficulty. I started having a lot of pain and discomfort about a year ago. Finally one day it was so severe I thought my appendix might be about to burst. After an ultrasound the fibroid’s were discovered and the surgery discussion began. Like you I decided to have it all removed. I have a family history of uterine and other cancers. I really did not have any trouble making the choice to have it all removed. My surgical journey was much like yours. I also had laparoscopic surgery. I was able to go home home within 3 hours of the surgery. I was sore, but managed the whole recovery with extra strength Tylenol and Motrin. No pain pills! Within 3 days I was able to get in and out of bed on my own. The bed was my biggest challenge since I have a tall bed and I’m only 4’11. 😅 The one big unforeseen thing that happened to me was that I got shingles in my lady parts! YES. Shingles! The pain of this when I urinated was more than I could stand. At first I had no idea that this wasn’t normal, I just thought it was probably pain from the vaginal removal of my uterus. By day 4 I couldn’t take it any longer so I called the doctor. She was in surgery for the day. The nurse recommended getting Aquafore to ease the pain. That didn’t help. I couldn’t even put it on because the pain was too bad. The next day I called the doctor again. They had me come in. My doctor streaked when she saw how raw and sore the area was. She had never seen this happen in 30 years. She biopsied it. The result was shingles! The only thing we could figure out was I must have gotten a small abrasion during surgery and with the added stress of my dad and mom being I’ll, plus the stress of the surgery it created the perfect storm. She put me on a medication that started helping within two days. Thank the Lord! She said they should not come back. Again, thank the Lord! I’m now five months out and doing pretty well. I do get sore and have a stinging feeling if I lift too much or cut the grass with the tractor. I do notice that the area around my incisions gets really red after a shower every day, my whole belly across the area gets red. It’s kinda strange, but not painful. I also cannot rest my hands on my belly yet especially at night when I’m lying down. Thank you again. You were a guide to me in my journey and I appreciate you for sharing your experience.

I had to wear triple pads, poise, pads, etc. so as I’m watching this I already had my hysterectomy. I’m on day four. I’m doing better still sore and achy. I’m taking pain medicine and resting. Thank you for your encouragement on your channel. Hi neighbor! My surgery was done in Nashville by Dr NumNum......a highly regarded Oncology Gyno Surgeon. I knew I was in good hands. I understand that the fears, concerns, and anxiety are real. My best advice is accept that you are having the procedure. Wrap your head around what will be happening to your body and understand you will need time to heal. When your mind starts to wonder off to the "what if"....stop yourself right then. Don't go there. The morning of my surgery, I was so nervous I basically was not present. I just blocked everything out and forced myself to get to the point of anesthesia. Once I woke up, I was fully engulfed in the pain but had prepared myself for that moment. I wish you the best and will keep you in my thoughts. Just know that you will be ok. It will be over....it just takes time. 💗

I went on bioidentical HRT at 40 and weaned off at 65. First 6 mos. I was fine but after that very slowly lost my eyebrows, hair thinned, got depressed, insomnia, severe joint pain, but the most horrible thing was I lost my energy and zest for life. I’m back on them now for one month and I’m better but still need tweaking. I tried different diets like keto, even carnivore and intermittent fasting and could absolutely not manage my hormones in my own. You are younger than I am and our stories are different but I’m just so happy too like you that I just take a pill and the guesswork is gone. You may have to have the dose adjusted as time goes on and might not always want that patch. It got to be a nuisance for me. ❤

@WELCOMETOMYCURLS. Hi Renee - I found your videos after being told that I needed surgery. My pathology report came back as precancerous so I had a total hysterectomy as well. I agree - leaving the ovaries, tubes, and cervix can all lead to cancer after the fact. Plus, for me, being post-menopausal made it an easy decision. Once everything was removed, however, the pathology came back as Stage 1B in the uterus. While the cervix was noted as nonmalignant, who is to say that some cancer cells didn't get into an area not put under the microscope. So I am now biding my time and healing before I see the Radiology specialist. I am coming up on 3 weeks post-op tomorrow. I can't thank you enough for being brave and speaking out and taking us on this journey with you. Although everyone reacts differently, you have helped me understand what I went through, what I am currently experiencing, and what I can expect in the future. You are awesome! Thank you! ❤

I love all your videos. And thanks for updating us. Glad you are doing well! Ihad a full hysterectomy 5 months ago. It’s nice to not have a period however I have a slight prolapse now which I mostly feel when I cough or after a bowel movement. I also have what feels like menstrual cramps that come and go which my doctors can’t seem to figure out, even after having a ct scan and blood work. No ovaries. No uterus. Makes no sense. I also have pain below belly button at times so I’m guessing scar tissue. I also still have hot flashes with estrogen patch and I gained 10 pounds after surgery despite eating healthy and walking several times a week. It hasn’t been easy transition or recovery for me but mentally I feel better than I ever have in my entire life. No depression. Energy. Clarity. Focus. I’m a much better person because of the hysterectomy over all and I recommend to anyone that’s tired of having heavy periods and dealing with fibroids and such. I am still healing and hoping by the end of the year my physical ailments will have disappeared by then as well as some of this weight. Doc recommended testosterone compounded cream so I am going to be starting that next week. I’m hoping it will help with the issues I’ve been having. There are a lot of benefits to taking it along with estrogen patch. So we shall see….
