Thanks for sharing your recipe. I package all meals in freezer paper then vaccum seal in a cooking bag. If I don't wrap in paper first the dried food puncture's the cook bag. Really like this channel!

Nice! This is exactly what I ate for breakfast over my last backpacking trip and never failed to impress in the morning with a cup of coffee. Still lost a bunch of weight over the trip though hiking about 25km a day through mountains so might need to dial in my dinner and snacks better.

Thanks for this Noah. I’ve been making similar after watching you guys and your proatmeal. Oatmeal, protein, hand full of trail mix, scoop of PB and I’m ready to kick some ass. Maybe worth pinning the recipe in the description box... or maybe you left it off intentionally to get us to watch til the end. Good luck on the trip!

Great recipe, thanks for sharing it. Powered peanut butter is something I'll have to look into for adding to my oatmeal. Your definitely going to need those calories in Labrador, can't wait to see that series.

Pro tip: you can watch series at kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.

Thanks for posting this Noah. I hit up the Bulk Barn and tried your recipe this morning for breakfast. Tastes good, but holy smokes that is a lot of food. Lol

Yes, it is a lot to put down!

Looks awesome. I imagine that’ll get you a lot further than the standard 3 to 4 packs of instant oats.

Thanks Jim, it's a lot to put down but it keeps you going for sure

Jim Baird I see in your recent videos that you’re sticking with the 4-5 packets of instant oats, sugar and powdered cream. Might want to dry this breakfast or a variation of it.

Haha wow! I can’t imagine being able to sit there and eat all of that in one sitting! Of course I didn’t pack enough food for our trip last summer and we ended up having to come out on day 12 instead of 14 so who am I to talk! Lol

Bro I just tried this today. I gotta agree with your buddies. It’s a lot of food! I couldn’t eat it all lol. Very tasty though but I’ll alter the amounts. Thanks!!

Really awesome! Some people might even add instant coffee to the mix. I'm curious to know if you've weight one portion. My guess is somewhere around 200-300grams? Also curious if you've calculated other nutritional content, particularly protein. Also digging the paper bag idea. Thanks!
@NorthernScavenger
@NorthernScavenger 4 года назад
I've never weighed the final product but 200-300 g sounds in the ball park. I would also expect there to be approximately 35 g of protein.

I would have loved to see you prepare it so we could see what it looks like and the amount it makes once its cooked. It looked like a HUGE amount for a breakfast.

It is huge 😂. My girlfreind and I just gave it a try this morning. Highly recommend! We added brown sugar, and we split one of Noahs portions and it was great for the two of us. Thanks for the recipe Northern Scavenger!

Might be inexperience but I never thought to use the paper bags. This works well for you? I like that over the ziplocks.
@NorthernScavenger
@NorthernScavenger 5 лет назад
Hey Kim, this is my first time trying paper bags but the rationale is I can burn them after use instead of holding onto a bunch of ziplock bags for the entire trip.
@heathermills5336
@heathermills5336 4 года назад
Northern Scavenger I also like the paper bag idea, as well as the burn rather than carry idea! Might try this myself... but How did the paper bags hold up in wet conditions? And/ or did you pack a bunch of paper bags into a dry bag? I’d think that after 35 days they might disintegrate from moisture and being knocked around, even if your food barrel is waterproof?

Hello ! Just to be sure 🤔 , my english is a little bit rusty, you plan to eat that as breakfeast every day for the whole duration of the trip ? Your not afraid to get bored ? Waiting to see your lunches and supper ;) Thank's for the very useful video and recipe, might try it once in a while. Sylvain, Québec

Thanks for watching! For this trip each person will be in charge of food for 9 days. This is what everyone will be having for breakfast for my 9 days :)

Great idea, Noah. Any idea what the cost per meal is? 💰
@NorthernScavenger
@NorthernScavenger 5 лет назад
That's a good question. I would think around $2. Powdered peanut butter and walnuts were the most expensive.

Looks great but think I’ll skip the Flax seed or I’ll be hiding behind trees all day. Great series guys are you gonna go over your GEAR choices?? Saw some in Ep #1 but it would be nice to see it all and explain the why’s and maybe what you wish U had left behind, RECAP.

Are you adding the water to these bags. Wdhat kind of paper bags are these?
@NorthernScavenger
@NorthernScavenger 4 года назад
I do not add water to the bags, unlike Quaker Oats,I don't think these bags would hold up. I bought the bags in bulk off Amazon

Add hot water and eat like any oatmeal. Don't eat dry.
