I'm not sure if it's been patched yet, but it might be useful to know. There's a glitch where if a natural bad sun occurs during solar mode, either by playing on the 24th or it randomly triggering, then the sun will permanently return to normal during the day. I suggest backing up your save before each sunrise, just in case.
Have been waiting for a new vid to place a suggestion for what you can do; not in this playthrough, but in general(if you haven't recieved a suggestion like that, of course): there's a console command "open" which allows you to teleport to various maps. Most of the are named "untitled_x", with x being a number from -1 to 161(so a hypothetical command to teleport would look like "open untitled_5". You can find some very funky stuff there; a lot of unused items, different debug areas, etc. Some maps after 80 crashed my game though, so I can warn you about that. On top of them, there's also a map simply called "51" without the untitled part, it's fnuuy silly. And as another general tip for using UUU: you can spawn objects by typing "summon prop_[name]_c", for example "summon prop_hook_c" would summon the hook. Pretty useful.
The wisps... Can... Do... and Will come right into Alpha Root Base through locked doors... FYI. (Head into the vents when they do come in to look around.)
You could try to break off the long vent cover and slip in from the stairs… but I don’t know what’ll actually break it off, only that it’s a physics object.
I've seen someone making a multiplayer mod in the Discord server. It's still pretty jank and currently only supports local multiplayer though, I think. Eitherway, I agree, multiplayer would be amazing for this.
the wisps can destroy omega yea, mine was destroyed once when the omega is destroyed all of its parts gets dropped on the ground (they will be shown on the radar) and you will need to collect them all and drop them on the workbench to rebuild it
Killer Wisps and Mad Stars can open and sometimes blow up the locked doors, so lockdown won't help. Its all luck based, if they will go inside the base or no. But here's a tip, if you think they saw you, run. They can see you too, like you can see them. Also they can sense you through walls sometimes. Also, Bad Sun is Scp - When The Day Breaks, aka. Scp 001 (When The Day Breaks).
From my experience, the wisps make it known when they aggro. They'll stop in their tracks, flash brighter for a sec, make a deep almost thudding sound, and then start chasing you.
It'd be interesting if you decided to decorate by putting up furniture against the windows to block the sunlight. You could block off the walls, but that'd cut Kerfur off. What I did to escape the wisps was just hooking to the ceiling and lifting up high enough to stop their AI from registering where I was. Also, I give thee a challenge. Spawn Maxwell and find him, and... Uh, I dunno. The reward is having Maxwell in the apocalypse.
Hello Ferax! I've got two tips for you, one menial and the other slightly spoiler-ish and involves the "Piss Wisps"; I'll leave it towards the end in case you don't want to read it. The menial one is you can spam both the 1 key _and_ the Store button to mass-store garbage bags instead of clicking one at a time. This works with all storage interactions to my knowledge. It's not much, but it's a time saver! :D Below this is the spoiler! You've been warned! . . . In case you're unaware, the 'bzt' sound you heard way earlier was *them opening your door.* Locks don't matter! If they spot you/try to pathfind to you and a door is in the way? Open sesame! Perhaps you should consider other places in the base to hide from them? Though with the Bad Sun, your options are limited.. it'd be interesting to see where you end up choosing. Thank you for beginning this new series, as I've yet to see anyone tackle Solar Mode! Wishing you the best in such a nightmare scenario
Hey, just wanted to let you know that as long as you're quick enough, the hazmat suit isn't even needed! If the capsule is in your inventory, and not being held, it doesn't hurt you. Works the same as being in a container I believe.
You should be able to block off the whips by blocking the main entrance. Also the wall builder may be something you might be intrested in to make safe spots around your base and eventually alow you to do certian things outside at certian times
A few tips (one of them will probably make game too easy so you can make a rule to ignore it): 1) You don't actually need hazmat suit to handle Rad-capsule since it damages you only while it's nearby but not in your inventory. So realistically you will be exposed to it only when you'd just dug up it and when you placed it on the workbench as the last piece. 2) You can "become a witch" and fly everywhere in your "mortar": You take a hook, come to green trash can (there are three outside of your base, to the left if you look at your front window), throw hook at its lid, take the body of trash can, pull your hook, aim to any direction and jump. Works a bit better if lid stays closed but it's not necessary for the flight - you won't fall if it opens midair. Also watch out for the saving lag in midair: I once fell and lost my hook somewhere in the brush. 3) Kerfus still can be destroyed by wisps but people say its parts: torso, arms, legs, Rad-capsule - should be visible on radar. Although I don't know for sure since I made my Kerfus a Mannequin, lost it to wisps somewhere and have no idea where it happened. :/ Although when you can fly Kerfus becomes not that necessary despite being very handy and letting you never leave the base.
Just a simple tip: You can hold the 1 key to store lots of things into a container at a very fast pace. Just make sure to stop almost after placing all of your objects in. Although, it unfortunately doesn’t work for taking things out.
If you're going to purchase the same item in bulk (or generally moving many of the same item between storages), don't forget to make use of the Stacking button in your inventory screen so you move entire stacks, rather than just one at a time!
Hey Ferax, I don't know if you already know this, but the Kerfus is a mascot of the Carrefour store chain in Poland, in the form of an autonomous delivery robot distributing snacks, with the face of a cartoon cat. The mascot was introduced in stores in Warsaw, Poland, in 2022, as an advertisement campaign in the collaboration between Carrefour and PepsiCo. Since then, it has become a viral phenomenon and an internet meme. That's how the Kerfus got in VotV im pretty sure.....
Can you please turn off motion blur and camera shake while running, it is very annoying. Tip. You can buy a giant cardboard box in the storege section. to pile all the rocks, coals and broken pieces of plank into it. And you can take a box and carry it with you to collect all the trash in it. That giant box has a crazy amount of space. For chunks of wood, you can recycle them in the garbage using wood chipper. Pick them up in hand, look at the wood chipper place, where you dump trash, and press alt+R (place) this way what you hold in your hand will be automatically put into the wood chipper, in which case is a lot faster than trying to drag an object in wood chipper manually. Don't try to use broken wood into a scrap wood. All scrap objets at current game sold for 1 default point. Selling different pieces of garbage separately is much more profitable.

Yknow you can buy a hook and go up into the ceiling of the main room, one of the vents in the center, it has a crow bar i believe. way cheaper than buying one

I'm watching this video while playing the game at the same time in story mode, waiting for signals to process and then coincidentally the bad sun event starts for me. I'm not sure what to make of this. The same messed up tree at the front is there too.

normal rocks sell for 10 credits fyi. i think only 7 with the sell gun though. there are also like 10 fire extinguishers in the base that sell for 40 each in an item box.
You could've just not bought crowbar and buy only hook to get the vent crowbar. Also there's the "7 minutes Omega Kerfus speedrun" video out there but it involves metagaming of knowing the bunker's passcodes. There are also garbage bags and rolls in the base in the janitor closet, though it's only like 20 garbage bags worth.
Also, you don't actually need the hazmat suit for the radioactive capsule while it's in your inventory. I walked all the way back to my base with it in there and never got a lick of damage.
Bit of advice, buckets are the least expensive way to obtain metal scrap once you run out of metal trash. 3 buckets makes 1 scrap, translating to 45 points per scrap. Hard drives are pretty much the only way to get electronic scrap for the coolers.
By what I remember from older versions of this game, yellow wisps can just go thru the base walls. But I believe they can’t go to the second floor or basement. Get curtains to block windows from the the bad sun and use the coal to keep your indoors doors open so you can run and don’t get stuck on some part of the base when the lights appear inside.
massive spoiler for the secret glowstick plot in terms of lighting, there should be some way to obtain a custom glowstick that should provide suitable lighting wherever you need. idk how to get it tho beyond knowing it exists in the game.
I went into sandbox mode, deleted the booth and took the drive all the way to the base, difficult since it doesn't have pickup window I extract it just to find out it didn't have anything on it, I was so disappointed 😔
You have to carry it as an object, never pick it up into your hand or inventory. You can process it. It will take a LONG time since it's 1gb of data, but apparently there's a signal at level 3
@@WithManyVoices It does, if you collect it or load a save. You can put the signal onto a terminal like processing, save and load. The drive breaks but the signal is still there. Dunno if you can still process it and get a result after a save load though
