So have you ever dealt with bagless vacuums volumizing fibrous debris? How often do you change your bag? I have 3 kids and 2 dogs and I change a bag at maximum every month, usually close to two. Let me know you experiences down below!

I converted back to bagged vacuums. Bagless was all the hype in the 90’s/2000’s and that’s when I started buying bagless. There are many advantages of bagged vacuums. If you’re an allergy sufferer, a bagged vacuum cleaner is highly recommended.
@HouseOfVacuums

I’m a convert TO bagged vacuums, I had two dysons and what a nightmare… the little ports in the container get clogged over time and you gotta wash it out other wise it loses suction. The container sometimes doesn’t seal all that and you can see where it mates with the seal that it leaks a little dust. When you empty it POOF you get that little cloud of dust. Also the dysons just didn’t last, they perform ok for about 5 years and then the plastic becomes just enough deformed that they leak everywhere and they get so down on suction that you just gotta throw in the towel and get a new one or like my first dyson a little plastic cover broke and they didn’t make that part anymore. I went to a bagged and no longer smell the dirt, no canister to wash, I just throw out the bag and stick a new one in. BOOM, the bag is the filter, no poof of dust, just done deal. Also the bagged vacuums seem to me to be much more well built, they aren’t as light, or as maneuverable but they clean so well and are just so clean when you are done with them. They aren’t for everyone, and canister isn’t BAD but I was surprised going to a bagged vacuum how much performance I was missing out on and how cleanly a bagged vacuum actually is. I’m also an allergy sufferer, no more sneezing and plugged nose while vacuuming or after vacuuming! I’m very happy with my bagged experience so far.

Thanks for watching and the comment! It is very true that the visual placebo of viewing the dirt in a bagless machine soon gives way to disappointment as performance continues to decline over the lifetime of the machine. I'm always shocked how many people will take a 5 year old Dyson or Shark, toss it, and go buy the exact same thing again. Consumers have been trained to expect less and buy more... we're out to change that! Cheers!

Exactly, same here. Had to stop and empty the dyson 3-4x per cleaning of the house, and that’s even with short hair dogs. The constant tear down of the air path and cyclone chamber, and rinsing and drying the filters, you’re talking a day or more of down time before the vacuum is back in service. The bagged vacuum goes months before filling the bag, and easily a year or more between filter changes, which in most cases are more of a preventative maintenance than anything else. Then factor in the incredible simplicity of design in sebo machines, most people would be capable of performing ALL maintenance and even repairs on them if they were so inclined. I’ll never go back to bagless.

I've got a friend with four shorthair cats and a 1990 Hoover Sprint and a 2018 Eureka Litespeed One. Once she went through a depressive episode and didn't vacuum for about 3 months. I took my Sebo over there and just went with a quick run through her 2300 sq ft house and in one go, I filled the bag except for the last about 2 inches or so of nothing but cat hair and a bit of light dirt. She had never seen her house THAT clean and nearly fainted. I joked with her that I'd buy her a G5 or Dart with an ET-2 head but she's scared she'll break it. I told her that would be hard to do.

I too fix and sell vacs [Arbor Vacuum, Brighton MI]. I have been confronted repeatedly with the "Must have bagless [Shark/Dyson] because I have dogs ". I know bagless is best, but I need to be ready with sensible objections to bagless for dogs/pets. Thereby, this is a fantastic video. I may even do that demo. We are a Sebo and Miele dealer and we keep a Dyson in the shop. Further, please know that I have watched a handful of your videos for knowledge and for sales verbiage. I am a fan. I have a Sebo X4 which does a great job with cat hair and litter. My wife and I have 2 cats and the Sebo is our downstairs vacuum where we have more carpeting. It does do a good job on our laundry room floor though with picking up litter without having to use the tools. The wand is great for crevices though. Upstairs we have a Meile C3 canister vacuum which is great for more bare floor cleaning, especially hardwood floors and getting around furniture. I'll never understand why people buy into the bagless hype.

Definitely agree with this. My family used Dysons for over a decade, a DC07 from 2003-2012 and a DC14 from 2012-2015. It was kinda annoying having to clean that cyclone. Then, one day my grandpa wanted to give me his Kirby G4 80th anniversary edition as a birthday present because his housekeeper ran it without a bag and he didn’t want to clean it out. I got it all cleaned up and running in tip top shape, and my parents were instantly impressed and decided to replace the Dyson DC14 with that and like how we can go several months without changing a bag and now it smells like fresh laundry every time we use it since we washed the cloth bag for the first time in its 28 year lifespan. And now I’ve decided I don’t want to go back to bagless. Even as a broke college student I use a Bissell PowerForce bagged, very impressive for only $58, it’s 2 months old, still haven’t had to change a bag. One day I’ll work myself up to something more high end

@@HouseOfVacuums Yep just bought one to replace my crappy dyson v7 fluffy. The dyson was nice for the first year or so. but the constant entanglement of hair around the cyclone and having to recharge and empty multiple times for one room I've decided to go back to corded vacuums. Then thought to try a bagged vacuum because of the memories I had as a kid emptying the Bissel out for my grandmother. Never got dust everywhere with the bagged. So I bought the 58 dollar Bissel PowerForce from Walmart. It cleaned my carpet better than the dyson ever has. And this one bag is seeming to last forever, still not full. Bagged for life.

Great informative video, Matt. I had a Dyson Ball for a few years and I have a cat. The dirt cup on the Dyson did fill exactly as you showed spinning around in the cup along with the dirt. I hated emptying that cup, what a messy job. Finally I decided to buy the best upright vacuum I could find locally, at my local vacuum dealer. NOT a big box store but a small mom and pop dealer. After watching RU-vid videos I was impressed with the Riccar R40P pet vacuum. Love the large capacity bag. Takes forever to fill and when it is filled it really is filled. Definitely like my old Electrolux Silverado. I change the bag everytime I vacuum. I even sweep before to get the most out of the fur my 3 big dogs with long hair and few cats have left. I have seen the amount of debris and clogs left in the cyclones of a bagless unit and I wouldn't want to deal with it. Some vacuums like dysons are hard to take appart to clean thoroughly. For me, to fill a bag and toss it when it's full, is the way to go for the regular stuff. I do use a simple little bagless stick vac for spot cleaning tho.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 3 года назад
Wow, you change the bag every time you vacuum with your Silverado? Do you have severe allergies? If that is the case you might want to think about something with a HEPA filter rather than changing your bag each time... but regardless, you are using a machine with a bag and that already puts you ahead of the game! Check out my previous videos about Electrolux Silverado filtration for an interesting watch if you have the time.

If only Shark or anyone else would invent a no hair wrap bagged upright. It’s hard on my back, knees, and wrists to cut hair off a brush roll. I've watched several of your videos as well as others about bagged vacuums. At some point, I hope to purchase the Riccar R25 Premium Pet. To me, it seems like it would suit our needs best and price is reasonable. I'm also open to the comparable Miele and Sebo models. My wife, however, is set on purchasing the Rainbow vacuum system. She claims it's the best for allergies because of the water filtration. I'm not convinced it will be worth the price. What is your honest opinion about Rainbow? Also, what is your honest opinion between Riccar, Miele, Sebo? Thanks for the great videos.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 года назад
Sorry for the delayed response, I was on vacation! So I am not a fan of the Rainbow water filtration system. Their original selling point was that dust can't make it through water. However, 20 years ago or more Consumer Reports tested their filtration claims and found that it was the worst filter machine in their test because the air was traveling through the water in pockets/bubbles that allowed the fine dust to be expelled in the exhaust. For Rainbow's next generation (E, which is essentially what they are still producing) they introduced a sealed HEPA filter. Because of this, it really filters the same as any other sealed HEPA vacuum from Miele or Sebo. So you are essentially paying a huge premium for the inconvenience of maintaining/cleaning a water system without any true benefit. So between the Miele, Sebo and Riccar, it really depends on what you need. The first thing I will way is that Riccar's uprights are not fully sealed, so they will not filter as well as Miele or Sebo if that is needed. But they are very, very good value for the money. If I had to choose between Miele and Sebo, I will pick Sebo every time. Compared to Miele's current machines, they are just built much better. Miele is also experiencing a lot of supply chain issues right now... I've seen parts backordered until 2024 at this point. Because Sebo produces essentially everything in house, they have not had those issues so if there ever is a problem, parts are readily available. Check out some of my features in the Miele, Sebo and Riccar playlists for teardowns... I think that will help. Let me know if you have any other questions!

So does a "top fill" vaccum compress the dirt better than one with a rear side outlet that fills the bag ? I notice that on my S40p that I have to shake the bag to get what collects on the side of the bag down, unless it doesn't matter. I saw the R25 has a top fill design. 👍
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 2 года назад
Good question. Depending on the style of the bag the dirt may fill diagonally. However, as the bag gets fuller this will typically even out. I would recommend just letting it be and replacing the bag when the light comes on. Typically by the time it's full the bag is filled pretty evenly.

What about the new water bag less like quantum x?
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
To me they are high time investment with minimal returns. The issue with water is that air travels through it in bubbles. Those bubbles still have fine dust in them. It's the problem that Rainbow ran into before they put a HEPA filter on the E-series. If the water was so great, why should it need a HEPA, right? All that to say is that water adds a load of complexity and really isn't a better filtering media than a polypropylene bag or HEPA filter. Cheers!
