I've been watching since the old virago days and I've noticed you guys have never had an ultrasonic cleaner it would be a great addition to the new shop they work wonders on old carbs anyway keep up the great videos.
Man I have been waiting forever for y'all to do a mini with a two stroke! Yes, that thing is sweet bro! I can't wait to see what all you do with it! 5 stars RBG👌✌️!
You can’t really let those 2 strokes idle much, especially since you fattened both jets. Both of my 250’s are super sensitive to jet changes and especially expansion chamber changes. Getting a good expansion chamber makes a huge difference. This build is awesome though.
Yes, do the swing arm before tuning it because its going to be a wheelie MONSTER! It's probably at about 60% power right now. Take it to a shop that's well versed in two strokes! After they laugh for about 20 minutes at you, and telling you how insane it is, they can set it up for full powerband... lol I Love This Build Guys! Be careful you don't flip it over backward when full powerband hits the first time... not kidding!!! Can't wait to see it in full power INSANO MODE with a swing arm! AWESOME BUILD!
@fenian p0wer He admits in the video that he is not well versed in 2 strokes which is awesome! I appreciate the Honesty! I am merely saying go and learn what needs to be done then he can do the DIY! Don't get me wrong! I LOVE EVERYTHING Greg and his team do!!! LOVE IT!!! #RBG ROCKS!!
Try changing the idle air mixture some. It doesn't sound too bad at WOT it's getting there that sounds wonky. It almost sounds a little rich when you first crack the throttle so go leaner on the idle air screw and then it sounds lean coming out out of the pilot jet so the needle clip may need to go down a notch to get some more fuel mid range. If you get it to rev up to WOT then you can do a plug chop or two to get a handle on how it's doing. I'm very surprised it's running that well without the factory airbox. Honda bike are very sensitive to that.
Man that bike is so sweet great job bud Love the two strokes it looks like it gets along pretty good to can’t wait to see what you are going to do with these awesome new toy I’m so pumped up about this one hopefully one day I’ll have the funds to build sweet bikes like this
From my experience with two strokes there easy to work on but hard to get tuned just right. Not as forgiving as four strokes when it comes to jet size, float height and needle clip position. The last two stroke I had took forever to hit the powerband because it was running way to rich. Took it down a few sizes and it solved that problem. The power hit much sooner and harder.
So happy you came up in my recommend suscribed and bell on even though its 430 in ky so yeah caught me chillin and found a dank channel keep doing you brotha
love this channel found out today youtube has not been notifying me of some of your vids caught up with a handful wheres the rest of the fl250 build love those old odysseys love to see em still alive...did you inspect the reeds on that mosquito killer lol
I really hope you can pay off the new garage without too much stress! Maybe you should consider putting some sort of link to where people could donate directly to paying off the garage!
You are definitely a better mechanic than i, however my two stroke motorcycle experience tells me that its a little lean. More than likely the cause of the bog plus i didn't notice any smoke which tells me you are getting just enough fuel to burn for spark but nothing lubricating the cylinder. Also indicating more air than fuel . this condition will eat up top ends pretty quick.
@@junkyardboost8372 As long as the length and other dimensions remain the same, the exhaust pulses will return at the proper time during the rpm range the engine was designed to run at, and will keep the fresh fuel/air charge from exiting before ignition. The engine will not notice. I used to design and build exhaust systems for two stroke engines before the internet was a thing and remember 4 pages of equations being normal to get in the ball park with the expansion chambers and stinger length and diameter.
@@sandmanbub yeah so long as he hasn't altered the length and put to tighter bends in he should be around the ball park , it's banding but not near anywhere of a standard cr80 with a big guy on ( yeah we all have big mates who wanna go ,suspension on the floor it still try lift the front wheel ) , finese the front pipe , it's so awkward to get spot on but worth it once it's right
That’s a cool idea man. BUT that thing should be throwing rooster tails and be doing wheelies in almost every gear even with you on the front lol. I live in Sevierville btw. Love the channel.
You can tell the ones who know what's wrong , the front pipe on cr80s are so finicky to get right when modified, once you been through jets, reeds , crankcase seals , ignition and what ever else you realise it's the front pipe is the problem ,just modifying it thinking I only made a small difference actually is a huge difference for it to band out cleanly, honestly rework the front pipe and when it's right it will make a HUGE difference, nice work red , Lil work on the front pipe and that will be stonking quick , fixed frame and wide tyre I dare to say it'll probably lift even with a heavy rider . Make sure you clean where you migged the neck inside ( it matters loads) and the smooth the bend out on the end of stinger ,hope it helps
I have a question RB I have a 49cc Wolf Blaze Scooter I would like to put a better carb on it The one on it now has no adjustment screws on it I'm sure you know exactly the piece of crap I'm talking about Surprisingly it's been a pretty good scooter I've had it for about a year and half I haven't had a drop of trouble out of it What size and brand carb would you recommend for a replacement??? I done away with the big air box and put a cone filter on it and It definitely made a difference I think with a carb that I could adjust it would run a lot better 🤔🙄 Love the vids by the way 👍✌️
My 85 was the same way. But had a new top end. Kid before me smoked it. Them motors aren’t built for riding wide open constant. But the pipe isn’t your issue. It’s jetting. Doesn’t have to do with the pipe. It’s just a silencer. Does nothing really on a 2 smoker. It’s like a glass pack really. Just goes through a baffle to quiet it down significantly. Resonator really. But would could be an issue is a leak on the chamber some where. Probably the copper ring to the pipe. U only can put them on once really. But definitely the air box is an issue. But if u restrict that air flow a little bit I think u might be golden. They rely on back pressure. That’s how they run.
You need to do plug chops to see were your jetting is. You stick a new plug in and run it wide open, then kill the motor, remove the plug and look at the insulator to check the color. You are looking for a tan color when you get it right.
CR80s are usually High range bikes. If you're a good tuner, then you can get a decent mid range powerband for it. They are most the time doggy on the low end. They are bikes designed to be pinned all the time.
Sounds like your running a bit lean which can burn it up. It also kind of sounds like your reeds are getting worn. Ive been riding two strokes for 20 years and they still give me a headache sometimes. Anyway theres my two cents hopefully with other comments you'll establish a good concensus. I got a real kick out of watching you ride that thing. Im still smiling and your looking like a pro with that tig torch I was a little impressed you did that yourself instead of sending it off. Thanks for the laughs.
Love the vids man im from manchester Tennessee love what you're teaching to God bless you and your family in another vid you posted something about a pissy pants next door neighbor who wants to be in every body's life and business and probably 70 needing and the judge singing this or that probably tried of hearing from busy body old people it's a carma full world so brother man if I wanted to live there I'm living there and you're a better problem solver than most iv seen you got rights to man bout all I'd do is be quite ish past 8 or 9 and fire it up at 7 yeeeeeha I'm from here to
Idk what you mean about the noise but that is all 2 stroke dirt bikes general sound. The exhaust is a stock expansion pipe with kawasaki 2 stroke silencer. If you are looking for that sound, practically, all silencers will give you that sound. With some variation here and there
I'm doing a build on a baja mini 08 I want to put the vtwin predator 670cc on it but I need to know if I'd have to mod the frame or mount points to fit. I have chain drive as it stands and I figure it should fit size wise but it looks huge and I'm not certain would you be able to give me a few tips or guidance
2strokes hate idling . But it don't sound to bad I love 2strokes there awsome and snappy and I know 2strokes alot of them have oil injection .I do away with them and mix my fuel that way I allways know I have oil in the gas .I've had a couple that the oil injection stoped and drives the moter up but anyways I love that rig ..godbless
Need to get it warm and revving high and then kill the engine immediately and read the plug. I’m guessing reeds need looked at, and possibly the way you cut and repositioned the expansion chamber is causing some issue. Possibly flowing better causing it to lean out. But as said in other comments, the bog sounds much more like it’s lean.
hi guys, love the vids. just a thought, do you think the extra length in the stinger( the section between the expansion chamber and the muffler) has something to do with the bog down?
Redbeard where you put the original foot pegs right next to the motor and shifter you will have better control over the bike because you will be able to feel that I sent start sliding in your feet in that specific location faster than if they were farther forward
V force reeds! Plug gap? And what is your mix at its running rich still, that's why its a slow power band belray premix/redline are the best, quality makes a difference. I think it will be a hand full, now do cr250r swap or????? Just make a weekend rippin video, muddy ?? all out race, fastest lap?
Had a question for you if you have the time? I have 2 Coleman Camo bikes and my Engine is not responding until I turn the throttle grip half way. Even when i use my finger manually to rev engine it does not respond until half way. Could this be the governor spring setup problem that attaches to that black throttle on carb? The second bike response is perfect and it looks like they are both the same. Any thoughts?
If your revving it directly from the carburetor and its doing it the butterfly valve or whatever its called might be damaged or it could be running clean and not get enough fuel until the throttle is halfway open .if is from the twist throttle think the linkage might not be connected properly
