The Detroit Lions gave the Browns all they could handle, but ultimately Cleveland came away with a 13-10 win. Baker Mayfield threw a touchdown pass, but also threw two interceptions as his struggles continued. Following the win, Baker ran off field without shaking hands and did not speak to media afterward. Baker is playing with a torn labrum and it's clearly affecting his play. As someone that's had a torn labrum and dislocated my shoulder 10+ times, it really blows. I think he may be worse than average. He has a great line, great running backs and good/ great receivers and with all that he is still considered average. You put him behind an average line, average receivers, average RB he's pretty much a backup QB for me.

Exactly man, all that talent on that team..3 starting TE’s..2 RB’s that are arguably top 10 in the league..had Odell..Has Jarvis..peoples-jones..amazing O line and they still stink..barely hanging on above .500 and my ravens have the 2nd most injuries in the league..16 on IR..literally a junior varsity team out there and we’re 7-3…that’s what an elite QB and the best coaching staff and drafting gets you.

I’ve been saying this. Baker needs a dominant run game in order to look great. He’s a lot like Ryan Tannehill to me where as long as the run game is eating they’ll look great but if that’s gone than and you have to rely on their arm they’ll look average. I get every QB needs a run game to an extent but when you have the best RB duo in the league carrying a lot of your weight it’s different.

Everything you said isn't based in reality. There were plenty of games in 2020 (before he was injured) when he balled out while the running game averaged less than 4 yards per carry.

@@kazokadas Look how much was though. Look back at last years playoffs when Patrick Mahomes was taken out with an injury and Baker Mayfield had the fourth quarter to seal the game for the Browns. He laid an egg. Dude has never even passed for 4000 yards in a season and he’s never had 30 passing TDs. There’s no indicator to say that Mayfield is elite in any way shape or form and his stats are completely reflective of a run based offense with him game managing. There’s nothing wrong with that either. It’s just fans do him a disservice painting him to be a great QB when he’s just average and needs a great team around him for him to look good.

@@isaiah1931 He averages some of the most air yards/attempt in the league. That is not what a game manager does. A game manager throws short passes to eat the clock and keep the game in control with multiple safe first downs. So stop with the game manager talk. Baker was a top 10 QB last year, that is great. Baker was rated as the #2 QB in the NFL last year over the final 12 games. That is great. He has been injured this year. If you watched the game against the Chiefs you would know that multiple drives sputtered because of dropped passes.

Baker getting to the NFL has been a Cinderella story, but it's midnight and most of the time he's a game manager. He has a run game and weapons to throw to, and one of the top defenses. When Aaron Rodgers played hurt in 2018, Cobb and Allison missed multiple games. Other than Adams he was throwing to a bunch of rookies in Valdez-Scantling, St. Brown and Lazard. The defense was injury plagued, and when healthy they were subpar. Yet Skip didn't give Rodgers a break like he's giving Baker.

Baker is a good QB who when everything is clicking, can be pretty great. He’s in that middle tier of QB’s you CAN win with, cuz at times he has been a great game manager. But in a season like this when nearly every big name on the team has been hurt, he’s just not gonna lift you up. Which is what #1 picks are supposed to be, but that ain’t reality. So while Baker probably deserves more benefit of the doubt, there’s a few QBs that Cleveland will likely gun for that CAN lift them up when things are going wrong

#1 picks aren't supposed to go out there with a torn labrum, fractured shoulder, 2 hurt knees and a hurt foot and lift a team up. I don't know where you heard that narrative.

I agree with Shannon with that amount of rushing success--Baker should have moved the offence to the end zone 3 or 4 times against a lowly Lions team!

Baker maybe avg but since he been in ctown we’ve been in the mix of playoff hunts and playoff.. as for Detroit they are playing afc north hard… career long field goal against Baltimore tied with Steelers loss to us and Cincinnati.. it’s week to week ..Lombardi going to the afc this year and it ain’t no clear cut who gonna take it in the afc let it play out

I always defended baker but I agree with shanon with this kind of talent on team browns should be superbowl contender but baker is holding them back

They did not lose because of him. Hard to critique Baker fairly when he is playing broken and truly giving almost all he has. Real Browns fans got to know this 1 thing. I never got to enjoy a winning browns team with my father ( why ) because he died cause it took that long waiting for it. So I say thank you Baker , you deserve a chance to keep getting better in a browns uniform. But don't get mad at 30 million , injuries or not , timing is everything and you have played your way out of 35 40 million a year up to this point. But hey there is still games to play so do you bro.

Baker is basically this era's Andy Dalton. Above Average QB but for some reason ppl throw his name in the elite conversation just cause he beats tough competition sometimes lmao.
