Nick this is amazing. You have such a great way to really break down fundamentals in a very understandable manner. This is helpful for people teaching poi workshops everywhere. Always love visiting your content as long as i have ever spun.

This is a great tip. I’ve been applying a similar principle as I learn and I like your elaboration of the idea.

Thanks Nick! Here's a question / request: whenever I just free-play, I almost always default to split-time same-direction patterns. So reels, fountains, weaves appear effortlessly, but I have to consciously think, "Okay, time to mix it up," go do a butterfly or something, and it always feels somewhat artificial. And if I go long enough, I then eventually morph back into split-time same-direction. I've gone through your courses (both udemy and the original facebook one!), so I have a decent handle on the basics, but it's not natural yet. Anyway to speed that process up, or to make dancing use everything I know and not just the small set I intuitively come back to? Or perhaps said a different way, is there a way to start taking the moves you "know" and turning them into moves that "flow?" Any tips would be awesome! Thanks again, Nick! I've had precious little to play lately, due to school and job and life, but I'm moving to a place with a big backyard next week and more free time, so I'll get to practice again soon!

Yes, I'm going to make a video soon about how to count the music, to practice new habits, like making sure to go through all the modes. Coming soon! :)

Hey Nick, thanks for the videos, I'm just starting your beyond the basics course and you're an excellent instructor! I was wondering if you could advise on some of your favorite ways to spin when you have limited vertical height? I'm in a climate that stays fairly rainy and do most of my spinning indoors with low ceilings. Thanks and hope you're well! Also since you asked about music: I love spinning to bassy psychedelic stuff like Desert Dwellers, The Librarian, Charlesthefirst.

This was helpful beyond description! Also, What's that song? I like what I can hear. Why not have a "song of the week"? We all spin and flow to the same groovage each week. Flow arts solidarity During the #poidemic !

I’ve picked up my poi again after more than a decade. What is the turningvmove you do after you say poidemic? I want to learn that.

Yeay! Some more exercices to do! :D Sooooo. You asked about playlists. Great, listening to music is my favorite occupation, even before poi, since the pandemic. No idea if this is your taste though. However, those albums are quite originals and catchy to be mentionned. THE best album of Goa-Psytrance I ever heard, seriously. This is phenonomenal www.subconsciousmind.ch/symphonieslife/ Progressive metal, with a taste of Pink Floyd Age of Aquarius, by Villagers of Ioannina City vicband.bandcamp.com/album/age-of-aquarius
