By the way, in case no one else has pointed this out, if you go to the Mountain Pass before dealing with the goblin/druid questline, the Emerald Grove will be closed off, presumably cause they finished the ritual.

There is a robe called the potent robe that u can get for saving the Tieflings in the tower. It adds your charisma modifier to ur cantrip, so very good for warlock players and anyone that uses eldritch blast.

Charisma casters already add charisma modifier to the spells they use, and I assume it wouldn't add it twice because that'd be busted. Actually better used on wis and int casters

@@sirhc8927 [Spoiler] But maybe important if you want said Robe and Achievement. Alfira in the Last Light Inn, gives the Quest about saving them, then go to Moonrise Tower, and right to the Throne Room is a bloody stairway down. Go down to the Jail, Where I would recommend killing all the Guards first, then Talking to the Imprisoned Tieflings and then Gnomes. Have things like Hammer-type weapons prepared or clubs, as the Gnomes will need them to break out and they will also free the Tieflings. If you did not kill the Guards, they will attack you and the Escapees. The Boss of the Jail and her Handyman will wait by the Boats and slaughter the Escapes. So if you want the achievement of rescuing everyone, Kill the Guards beforehand before talking to the Gnomes. Once they escape by Boat, where you can go with them, Talk to Alfira again and she will give you her Robe, her Masters's Instrument and some other stuff. I do not know if this works in Dark Urge, for some important part of Act 1. Also, the Gnomes will give a good sum of money!

FYI - You can reduce the Gold Lady's health by killing the skulls that spawn with her. Every one you kill will knock about 100 hp off her life total.

As an MMO player my first thought was 'Six Skulls, Six Different Buffs'. It ended up right. When you've done Crazy Encounters for long enough, you begin looking for context clues. My friend stated that it never crossed his mind until I brought up that detail. Critical Thinking ftw.

Also, for the pixie bell: if you come there before agreeing to the ambush, you can just charisma your way into convincing the moon lantern holder into giving it to you. They'll walk into the darkness and eventually die in the shadows

Drider didnt, at least not for me. I found him in the graveyardy area, hed take damage for 2 turns then just heal, seems to do that indefinitely. Couldn't even kill him for ep, at least not at the moment. He won't initiate combat no matter how much i hit him and he fulls heals every turn and presently i dont have to means to down him in one round. Still disarming striked to get his sword though.

There is another rare shield near the Last Light inn, buried in the graveyard over the bridge to the north. On the east side of the graveyard there is a perception and strength check to notice and then move rocks to get the Shield of Scorching Reprisal.

You can have the gith ambush detector before the ambush near the Road to Baldur's Gate way point. The long rest scene where you get the item can trigger before that. I got mine after clearing Rosymorn.

It's important to know that if you complete all of the Shar temple before going to Moonrise, you'll automatically fail and be locked out of some of the questlines!

@@FenrirAltermy brother in christ if you managed to go all the way thru act 2 without finishing "save the tieflings" youve already failed it, if you dont finish that quest before entering act 2 its one of the ones you get locked out of... not to mention that is like one of the first quests you should encounter in the game so if you left it that long odds are you were never going to do it anyway, but you should because that is how you get halsin/mynthara companions depending on how you play it (im lumping the tieflings quest and the druids quest togrther bc you almost cant finish one without doing to other anyway)

As long as you stop at the pool portal this isnt true, killing moonsong is the trigger that permenantly cuts off access to act 1 and progresses the world state of act 2, just dont go and finish that last bit until you complete all the sidequests you want to do in act 1 and 2

Damn, I made the same mistake with the mountain pass area. I skipped it and then later just assumed it was an alternative entrance to the shadow cursed area 💔 ugh… that warning sign is horrible

I had no idea what I had to do so I went solo with shadowheart, I struggled in the first fight with the shadows for like an hour... Then once I made it to the city I ported everyone there and got the blessing.

You can get a Potion that gives one character +2 Strength permanently in Moonrise Towers by talking to the Alchemist Drow (I forgot her name). You need to refuse her offer at first and then (while having Astarion in your party) she will offer you another proposal. You have to convince Astarion to do it and bam, you have +2 strength for the rest of the game on the character you give it to.

As a comment on the aid spell, they aren’t temp HP. It actually increases your maximum hp. So you can have aid and temp hp at the same time.

IMPORTANT: The raven spell (Ranger) or from the item spoken about here is more useful than what was mentioned. It can FLY over walls and buildings and get into places you can't and then pull levers, press buttons and activate things. This raven has been most useful and fun. Such an amazing game and so much fun to play.

Any class that can get Find Familiar can get the raven, so that includes Wizard and Warlock (Pact of the Chain)

Druids can also do this with flight form. If you have a character that can cast fly, you can do it to most places too- but you may also need another character to cast Enlarge/Reduce- Reduce, to get into some small spots. Of course, Druids can shapeshift into much smaller animals and burrow/get through small holes. It's really fun replaying areas with another class and seeing just how different it feels when you can navigate areas in ways you formerly couldn't. It's amazing how much interactivity and verticality they managed to stuff into the game!

Tip for defending the portal!! Go around last light in and grab every crate, then before the mission starts build a wall with the crates where the portal spawns in. This protects it from archers and mages then all you have to do is stand your ground in front of it

(As a cool little bonus for First Light Inn, anyone looking for a wizard hat) In the stable with Dammon the blacksmith, use animal speak to the bull all the way to the right if you're facing the stable. It will turn into a different creature and Dammon will aid you in killing it. It drops a pretty cool wizard hat called "Hat of Fire Acuity". 😀

The githyanki Creche and Lathanders mace is in act 1 technically not act 2. All underdark and grymforge is also act 1.

under the moonlight towers where you get after first part of the fight with Kethric, there is an area with 1 guy and few brains. In that room/area there is a cage with a brain in it. Open cage, talk to the brain and get a really nice free summon.

Note that you need to have successfully mutilated the brain on the Nautiloid at the start of the game for this summon to be available.

There’s a secret shar sanctuary in the middle of the town, with an interesting dagger and fight. Theres kind of a puzzle to open it.

The INT, WIS, and CHA buffs are the most valuable here. +5 to each stat. I recommend long resting before interacting with the statues so that you get full use of the +5 buffs which only last until the next long rest. +5 is insane: means more spell slots, impossible to fail skill checks, super strong spell cast difficulty checks. Also, I noticed that it is currently bugged: for characters with Prepared Spells, if you make use of the +5 extra spell slots from the buff, the spells remain even after the buff is lost. This is HUGE (but I'd categorize it as an exploit).

#1 little warning, if you go to the mountain pass without helping the grove, they will just close it down. so DON'T go there, unless it's the quest.... this vid makes it sound like nothing would happen or be concluded as warned by the game, but it WILL be. go to the mountain pass, but NOT before completing the main quest of map 1 (grove) #2 you dont need the key to open the door for the metal, just a rogue with skill

The grove isnt the main quest of act one... its a sidequest, a long sidequest but still a sidequest nonetheless. ANY quest that is locked by progressing is a sidequest

For the portal fight in the Halsin quest, just stay near the portal, shoot the ranged enemies, and drop a Firewall. The melee enemies just run in and die.

@@dmitrimaslov3168ew pally levels on a priest is a waste, i gave her 2 wiz levels and taught her fireball from a scroll, fireballs = ez quest between her and gale throwing out fireballs it was stupid easy (i gave her specifically 2 wiz levels for the evocation school so my fireballs dont tpk me if you were wondering)

I actually missed Art Cullagh completely and he died after i progressed the story. We can actually still do the quest by using talk to the dead spell and ask the dead Art Cullagh about Thaniel.

Also, if you kill the strange ox in the grove in act 1, Damon will not show up at Last Light. Not sure if it’s a bug or the consequences of killing the ox but you won’t be able to progress Karlach quest or get the items if you kill that ox. Supposedly he is in act 3 still.

About the Moonlantern: If you start the journey with the Driad, and the Harpers attack you. It doesn't matter if you save the Harpers bcs they are looting the lantern. About the gith ambush: If you long rest after the monastery he will find you and will give you the Detector before act 2.

For the gold lady, I gave her all my gold and it still wasn't enough. Not sure what the minimum is. So I had to reload, and fight her from a more advantageous position. Circle the building and you can get on the roof. Best to ignore her and instead go for the floating heads. Killing those knocks 100hp off her at a time. Downside is, you don't get the signed trade visa. Plus side, I have no idea what it's supposed to be used for.

Oh btw when doing the portal quest be careful to not let a npc follow you (for me it didn’t like my summon and followed me) when the npc was taken over by the shadow curse the entire last light inn was infected and insta killed

Help the guys stuck in a cave due to gnolls near the act 1 tollhouse and they'll put in a good word and give you the passphrase to get past the explosive ambush so you don't have to go into the zhent base hostile

I have yet to arrive in ACt 3 but I did kill the boss in Act 2 but I was still able to recruit Halsin by going back to the Last Light Inn with Talk to the Dead spell and used it on Art Cullagh and proceeded with Halsin's questline. Idk how that would work for you in Act 3 already though, but worth the try IMO

When trying to protect Halsin and his portal, one easy method is to cast a stone wall or Darkness to obscure the portal. The ranged enemies will have to walk close to you or any corner just to get their sight on the portal, wasting their turns.

I think the infernal iron is bugged, if you have the devil chick in your party before you speak with Dammon. You then hand the iron for her upgrades, then follow up for the armor crafting. Seems it doesn’t consume the iron if you do her upgrades first.

Funny fact in my game; the ambush failed because I was sneaking on the other side of that little bridge. The enemies appeared, but my character remained hidden. The player was quite surprised tho! I was able to sneak away, and the enemies remained there forever. Devs should definitely add a small circle of detection around enemies, so you need at least one roll when close behind them.

I was so unprepared for Halsins quest. I wasnt expecting any of that lol. Luckily i had Shadowheart and Gale in my party. You can cast longstrider on shadowheart and have her put up spirit guardians and run around the battlefield for the first bit. When it starts getting western (it will) i put her at the top of the steps by the portal and tried to do enough splash damage with gale and Tav (My rogue/ranger) so that anyone walking to SH will die instantly. I had Karlach as my other parry member but she kept going down and forcing me to use SH healing word. Next time i do that quest Id probably take Laezel or Wyll spec'd as a BardLock for some more crowd control.

10:15 The ambush is not required to get the camp event for the Psionic Detector. That happened right after Creche events in Act 1 and going to sleep.

Mountain pass technically isn’t act 2 yet. That would be the shadowcursed lands. The underdark/grymforge and the mountain pass are still act 1. Act 2 only begins when you get to the shadowcursed lands. Once there though the infernal rapier for saving zariels asset and convincing them to give you an extra reward. The blood of lythander and the infernal rapier as far as I know are the only two weapons that early that give level 6 spells

1:17 warning if you go to the mountain path before doing the inn on fire and goblin village it'll end as Halsin dying and the inn burning down. Also you can do most of the Shar temple but once it asks you as far as what's happened on my playthrough so far you are locked into story for a bit after though the wording is a bit vague

The thing with the infernal iron is that you have to use one of those at the grove to get Dammon to reinforce her infernal engine, leaving you with only two by the time you get to the inn. Still, I missed the one in the Zhentarim hideout so this tip was still very helpful. Probably would have found it but wasn’t sure if I was supposed to fight them. Ended up killing everyone when I went back. It was worth it

If you go into the gauntlet of shar next to where Balthazar resides in there there’s a locked door to your right (it’s level 21 so it’s pretty hard lock if you don’t have a rouge in your party or someone with efficient slight of hand). Once you get that sucker opened, there should be a piece of infernal iron in one of the chests! Hopefully this helped :-).

@@Salzzyyyyy oh yeah, I ended up find this and loads of infernal iron ages ago. I did a 200 hour playthrough and finished up about 2 weeks ago. Fantastic game! Hit a few game breaking bugs in the final act but found ways around them and finished up. One of the best gaming experiences of my life but I’m going to wait another month or so before I do another playthrough. Hopefully they’ll have it patched up by then. Playing Lies of P atm and it’s also fantastic. So many great games this year!

Toll house boss loses a lot of her health buffs if you kill the floating skulls around the house. Also Pro tip, engage her in convo and loot all the gold in the room and send all your gold to camp before the fight. Makes it so she doesnt one shot whoever is holding all the gold

The thing about the lantern was that I was playing a Warlock/Paladin using bind weapon, so me being the light bearer for the party was like perfect. Before going into act 3 I open the lantern just to see what happens and was like ahh shit but wasn’t disappointed because it was like we released a pixie into a world turning for the better :) happy ending for act 2

That whole Halsin quest stressed me out coz it's so bugged. Halsin doesn't appear in the shoreline and is stuck in my camp. Had to do other quests, eventually just killed Art Culligan which unlocked new dialogues for Halsin and made me do other quests.

For the toll house boss, everytime you kill the skulls, she loses a massive chunk of health. Killing all of them will lead to the boss having only 56 hp or so in balanced mode.

It's sad when I run into very rare items like the shield that gives 10 temp hp when I already had a lvl 4 aid spell that Shadowheart casts on my whole squad after every long rest for 15 temp hp for the day - same issue with the necrotic, life stealing sword. It's seemed like I'm over leveled since act 1 but when I read other's experiences, many seem to be in the same boat. I still equipped the shield but I wish Larian just made it a lvl 4 aid spell - I had that long before I got to the shadow cursed lands lol. Lathander's Mace is insane, though. Giving your healer the amulet that ensures max healing when using healing spells is a huge buff to any squad, too.
