Over the past 5 years, Graham has clocked up a debt of over £29,000, from constant nights out and a growing wardrobe of designer clothes. He has a fashion degree and one thing it seems to have taught him is a unique appreciation for Vivienne Westwood, where the cheapest shirt is £150.

While I agree with you on many levels, parents who pay money monthly to their kids are not necessarily bankrupting the kids morals or taking away their sense of responsibility. The problem with the way Graham's parents give him money is it seems they do so to replace love, time and other family issues with money. They don't ask him to work or even to volunteer and just throw money at the situation without asking anything of him. My parents have been paying me a pretty nice sum of money for the last 25 years. HOWEVER, I do research for my family, and that includes for cousins and other branches of the family and its business. I'm also the family historian and photo archivist. I am expected to show them a budget , take classes on stocks, bonds and other wealth management issues, and volunteer. Unlike this guy, I could care less about impressing the neighbors and my best friend, who also has quite a decent bank amount, and I LOVE to try and get good deals like going to second hand stores, coupons and more. Sure, we go to University Club and other more elegant places once in a while, but we are just as happy at the Diner down the street or the little hole in the wall coffee shop. We also both have pretty good morals and don't do drugs, steal, hurt others or the like. So, just wanted to say that not all folks are as purposefully obtuse as this kids was in the beginning of the film. Peace!!! Thanks for sharing your observations!

This was my 5th year art teacher Eileen gartside, she was an amazing teacher, she had a step daughter who she spent most of her time with on things to do with the carnival like making her carnival queen, she was a bonny young girl I think called melanie and younger brother Alan, I miss mrs Gartside and her personality she was quite strict but funny, graham was a bit of a loner at school used to carry a briefcase around and was bullied quite a lot, he lives in the same town as me now in fact next door to my mother in law, it's a small world, Mrs Gartside has unfortunately passed away but she will be sadly missed by many and Graham lives with his boyfriend now

At first I thought he seemed bratty but I'm thinking he's actually a pretty kind guy who had to deal with a lot in childhood because of his "demeanor", as Mum puts it. It sounds like he was abused at least emotionally. A lot of his spending seems to be motivated by wanting to be accepted (nice clothes, taking his friends out). I don't think he's spoiled, I think he's hurting. Wish I could give him a hug. ❤

I'm always so proud of the people in this series. And this one in particular. He was so open minded and willing. And it's obvious that his childhood stuff was the real cause of the breakdown with his mother which was just exacerbated by her enabling him instead of fixing that breakdown. He literally had all the card stacked against him. How many people would just keep spending their parents money if their parents just kept giving it go them and they didn't have a great relationship or level of respect for their parent. I think most people would, in that situation, take advantage. So I'm very impressed that he's made a change. And especially because he wanted to. His mom didn't put him on the show. He willingly participated. And he put in the work, literally, by actually working. Good on him.

It's meant to make us think. Maybe if this lady had not had rose coloured glasses on concerning her grown son they would not have been in this situation. Because he would not have taken her through this without her consent. He may not have even considered it if he had been told a few truths along the way.
