There is no best timing, it is always different depending on how the motor is setup. The star cut helps the shifting when you make a little more HP than stock.
It’s the Oring on the aluminum tube that is in the clutch cover. Pull the clutch cover and replace the Oring on the aluminum tube that sticks out of the side case.
You did, right at the 2 minute mark. Side cover is pulled exposing the pipe with the Oring on it. Just replace that Oring with a new one grease it and put the side cover back on. All finished.
