Barebow archers tend to anchor higher up the face than recurve archers (not using a sight means you have to see the point of the arrow in relation to the target). This gives a lot more scope for the bowstring to come into contact with your nose on release. As a fairly new archer shooting barebow I got quite a few nose grazes before I started taping my own nose. Looks strange but it works.

Sure it is. The reason competetive barebow string walkers use more modern bows is that... well, they are better and perform better. They also allow some attachments that are not fobidden by the rules of most tournaments. So they can add small dampers or weights. But nothing stops you from doing the exact same thing with a Samick Sage. I own one aswell and it does the job despite being on the lower side of the budget.

a magnet arrowrest a plunger/button some weight to stabelize and balance thats less than 100 dollars + a 200 dollar ilf bow. thats a competetive kit already recently a archer in germany shot all the qualifications up to national chanpionship ( dont know how he fared there) with a jackalope zircon( 36#150 euro) and 15 dollar arrows. the performance difference between a 250 dollar kit and a 1000 dollar kit is minimal at barebow distances. 18-50 meter at barebow archery its more the archer and less the dollars and thats the beauty of it. if you are good with your sage ... give it a try

Lol you almost got the definition of trad bows right. How the fuck you supposed to fire the arrow without blocking points? Rest the end of the arrow on the string and hope it stays put?

John Demmer is one of the best barebow archers in the whole world. I think we can safely assume he knows what he is doing. One of the points of an anchor for a string walker or a gap shooter is the string touching the nose. The plaster is not there because he "wacks his beak" but to protect the nose from the string scuffing it.

@@SirPraiseSun nothing is stabilized on a barebow. They’re usually counterbalanced to stop the bow from hitting you in the face when you shoot, and they’re aluminum or carbon, and not wood, because you aren’t allowed to have any laminated parts of the bow to act as a sight or aiming mechanism. They also give the archer the ability to use international limb fit (ILF) limbs from any manufacturer to tune the bow to feel exactly how they’d like it to. I’m pretty sure you’re a traditional purist who hates anything that isn’t one piece and made out of wood. That’s cool, I like trad bows too, I’m actually looking for a 72” English longbow at some point when my draw weight tapers off. But don’t go shitting on another class of archery because it doesn’t conform to what you see as “true archery” or whatever. Gatekeepers suck. Stop sucking.

Plenty of barebows. If you wanted a video on trad bows, this is the wrong one.

Pro is short for professional. A professional is anyone who gets paid for what they do. You can pick up a barebow and never shoot Olympic recurve or compound, and still progress from a beginner to a professional level. No one said anything about being under qualified No one is telling anyone to practice a certain way

When you know a little the Wa mentality, you understand that it's because they consider the olympic recurve above every thing... Try to explain the difference between barebow and instinctive hunting recurve... It should be a painfull moment... Every high ranked archer in "instinctive" actually aim... All of them... Even more difficult, try to make them understand the difference between a longbow (american) and a reflex deflex... They Just still dont understand that reflex deflex work like a recurve and dont have any behavior of a longbow... Then, when a kid wants to shoot with a longbow... Well... The coach Will Just ignore him and keep hum shooting barebow... "you will never be able to learn with a longbow, and you will not be able to compete because the division dont exists for your age !"... Well, and how about fun ? When i was in WA, i candidated for the coach training. The only thing they were able to say was" hum, you're a longbow shooter... So you dont fullfile the requierement to take part in the coach training... And your level is probably too low... " and they had the intelligence to say that 3d wasn't target shooting... Maybe we shoot arrow in the wind... Well, again... After have shot bows more than the half of my life, Shot olympic recurve in national championships for years, trained european champions (even if i wasn't official coach). For Wa, if your not olympic archer, you cant be a coach... I'm sorry, but it's really painfull to see how WA can be so self centered and discriminante all the things that dont fit their definition of archery... Archery is a really large world with enormous amont of knowledge to acquire, many People to meet, many information to exchange... It's Just stupid to reduce this world the way WA do...

@@abnormallynormal8823 moreover, i find absolutely intolerable to see WA posting on social medias photos of european championship winner with their "award", that dont even reach the minimum salary in my country and dont even pay the bare bow used to win this contest... Personally, i would be ashamed to do that... But it's only my opinion after all...
