When you replace the door handles check the bushes on the hinges, they wear and the door drops putting extra pressure on the handles when opening.

BW 35 and BW 40 transmission filters are interchangeable. Oil leaks are probably engine rear main seal and selector seal on transmission, very common issues back in the day.

Enjoying this video series on the Falcon such an original example and love its patina. My folks had an XD Fairmont as a family car when I was a kid. Wish they had kept it. Traded the XD in on a Ford Sierra, what a step down in quality that was, they didn't keep it long. Look forward to Part 3 mate 👍

Check the plate on the side of the extension housing to see if it's a 35 or 40.

Hot start relay was common for the 6yl Fords as the exhaust runs close to the starter causing the solenoid to stick. It was more prevalent on Cortinas due to the same issue compounded by the engine being shoe horned into the engine bay. I believe it was solved by the E series as I've never had it happen on them to me,

Might want to consider changing out all the flexible brake hoses. I have a 2005 BA Falcon and have both rears go on me in the last few years, resulting in total loss of brakes. I was leaving my workplace last time and was able to stop with the handbrake and reverse back into the car park. If your parents are going to be driving it, then it may be a good idea to do it.

Love the video flow mate. It so enjoyable to watch. I looked on my 250 and don't have a airfilter screw either or else I would have sent it to you. But rare spares have them TFI4215 $11.95 if you don't want to make one. Then they also have a whole new aircleaner which tidies up the bay a bit if you don't car for a stock look. As far as I know either kit fits the 35 and 40's but don't quote me. But the 35 is what would be in your car being an XE. 40's are primarily in XF's but Ford overlapped years in those days. There should be a marking on the housing though. As for stickers Grafix Unlimited do them. All the engine bay, window stickers and RAC ones. They also do the interior knobs if you want to freshen up a few. With old rusty girls I have found CRC Penetr8 is great. Expensive but you only need a little bit and has saved me many times from snapping bolts. Again love the content keep at it.

The borg warner 35 cooling lines run down the drivers side.. The really onky differences between 35 and 40 is the 40 has stronger internals built for fuel injection

Nice car, unfortunately the rear main seals of those xflows like to leak, i replaced mine and it started leaking again after 6 months Also regarding the trans theres a aluminium plate on the passenger side abovebthe pan that gives you the model number ( i.e 40 or 35)

Gidday mate, good job. I’m saying it’s going to be a bw40 trans and if my memory is any good at all, I think it’s only the actual trans filter that’s the difference between the two service kits, the 35 had a flat mesh screen and the 40 has a bit if a raised tinny anti-splash type of an arrangement.

My best mate ordered a mustard coloured XE 351 manual S pack in 1981 only to be told by ford they cancelled the V8 he wrote to Ford multiple times and they ended up doing a hand built one to same spec he ordered think it was bout $14500.00 back when it was Delivered unfortunately he and another mate drowned in a fishing accident in 1983
