Greetings from Czech Republic! I hope I understand well the main purpose of this part (to have bigger space between the clutch discs+plates so to release the whole mechanism more and probably allow better free spin) - but - I want to ask something different: I am interested in the fact, that the arm is shorter, and you are saying that you didn´t notice any difference in additional clutch pull effort... Because, there are some people here who are using something which they call "easy clutch" - which is simply having a little bit longer this clutch arm. And the clutch pull effort is - they say - significantly lower, so it´s easier to pull the clutch. The opposite thing should make the opposite effect... I would expect. But I really haven´t experimented with this by myself. So only my theories and what I think it should be logical.. :-) ... (?)
