Barry Bonds: 1986-2007 2,935 H, 762 HR, 1,996 RBI, .298 BA, .444 OBP, 1.051 OPS, 162.7 WAR 7x NL MVP I do not own these videos, they belong to MLB.com.
Crazy thing is you barely showed any of his fielding or baserunning, and that was a BIG part of his career, particularly the first half. On homeruns alone he is a legend, but he's so much more.
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 Yes he cheated but even before roids he was still one of the best players in the game. Do I think he would of beaten Hanks record without roids? no but that doesn't mean he was not good.
I’m so glad you can watch these. Young kids wouldn’t believe the nukes this guy hit in his career. They’d say we were exaggerating, or “he couldn’t play in this era”. Well, here’s the proof. Greatest ever.
At the ballpark for numbers 71 and 72, bought a commemorative t-shirt immediately after number 71, only to come back to my seat for number 72. Second to last game of the season. Damn, he went and hit number 73 the next day. How amazing he was. I also saw numbers 500, 600, and 715. Long-time season ticket holder. Almost every time I brought a friend from out of town, he hit another.
He was the perfect batter in clutch situations. He had the speed, he had the power, and he clearly had the flare. His batflips/drops were legendary. Definitely one of the best outfielders the games ever seen no doubt about it.
@@masondebolt6860 both Bonds and David Ortiz were linked to PEDs. Ortiz is a first ballot hall of famer yet Bonds is now off the ballot. That’s a tragedy.
He used the juice man, get real, this bum does not even belong in the record books, the stats are all fake and false like bonds is, I think he will just fade away like Pete Rose and take McGuire and Sosa with him, they are all bums, and so is Roger Clemens.
@@beat-inbuzzard4473 thats simply not true. If you take a random person off the street they and gave them steriods they wouldnt touch a baseball. You still need to square the ball up to hit homeruns.
Man some of those pitches were impossible to hit & and it did not matter for number 25. One of the greatest joys of my childhood was going to. It was then Pacific Bell park in watching Barry bonds smack one.
Padres fan here who once had zero respect for Barry Bonds as a player only because he single handedly would come down to San Diego and kill us every time. It was not until later in his career that I as a fan would be having the most respect for this player. I witnessed greatness the whole time and not realized it during the moment. His greatest stat is that he hit more homeruns in San Diego. Which sucked for us. I am now a Barry Bonds fan for life!!!
I actually find 90 to 99 Bonds more exciting to watch because he could do it all, hit for power and average, defense, and speed. Bonds would have been a first ballot HOF anyway with 500 homeruns. He got to enjoy extraordinary success for the last 5 years of his career, which is unprecedented. But definitely came with a price.
3 MVPs 8 golden gloves and was the only member of the 400/400 club. Even before steroids to me he was the best left fielder ever because he was more complete than Ted Williams and Rickey.
Well athletes do get older and pickup weight later in their careers. Can’t expect someone in their late 30s and early 40s to look and feel like their 20s
@@mmcneil777 the messed up thing was everyone was roiding before him and he just did it to keep up with everyone else. I personally think he should’ve been a hall of famer.
Absolutely. 90s Barry was the most complete player I've ever seen. I grew up watching him play at Candlestick and always say he was better before the roids because he was a gold glover and base stealer.
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 - what about greenies? Most of the guys from the 50s-80s were taking pills to give them energy (including Mays and Aaron). You can bet if PEDs were available, they would have taken them. They were looking for an edge.
@@EssexAggiegrad2011 Steroids don’t help you put the ball in play. Don’t know what you talking about check the description for some of the best stats of all time
Everyone who complains about him being juiced and huge needs to watch the first half of his career. Dude was a hall of famer before he beefed up and focused on hitting homers. He was a genuine 5 tool player
His 762 the most home runs ever. His 73 is the most in a single season. There many great or hall of famers who took steroids I think Barry should one say be able to be in the hall of fame in Cooperstown ny . Barry could run he could hit home runs he could throw and field. He should be in Cooperstown
People need to stop losing their mind about him not getting in the HOF because a bunch of old men who watched baseball 60 years ago says he shouldn’t be in. Everyone with eyes knows bonds is a HOF regardless if everything he was accused of. The committee is a joke. Fans will make their own opinions anyway we all know bonds Clemens let’s rose and even a rod belong in the HOF
Hall of fame lost credibility after putting Ortiz in there as first ballot. Journalists dont care about steroids they only care if they like the player. Hell look what the did to Terrell Owens on the NFL he is easily top 5 wide receiver of all time and he was selected on his 3rd try.
@@petersonofleo11 no doubt if you rub these guys the wrong way they won’t let you in but that’s what I’m saying i don’t need these 70 80 year old men telling me who’s a Hall of famer or not I could see it with my own eye balls that Barry bonds is one of the greatest players of all time and by the way I’m not mad Ortiz is in I think he’s a hall of famer as well maybe not first ballet but he belongs there for sure but you’re right it’s just a popularity contest
@@petersonofleo11 you hit the nail on the head. Look at Schilling - never accused of PEDs, but the voters don't like him. It's a popularity contest and they make up the criteria as the go.
7:30 - That is such a beautiful home run. Nice compact swing with incredible power. Roids or not, Bonds was a fantastic player. It is a shame that he did what he did. He'd surely be a 1st ballot HOF recipient.
@@Aih1616 I’m an angels fan so I’ve seen most of Ohtanis games and he needs to do it for another 5 years to be considered in that class. Hopefully he stays healthy
Looked at all the intentional walks and what his numbers would be with that number just cut in half. Such a short quick swing with complete plate coverage because he got right on plate and could turn on any inside fastball
He is in my opinion a top five baseball player of all time. He done things that not many people had been able to do nor would be able to do. Most home runs by a player in history and single season record for home runs. Most MVPs by a player all time. I was against anyone who had ties to PEDs getting in but my opinion has changed and evolved over the years and with players who did PEDs already in the hall of fame and with David Ortiz getting in, you now must put the players that weren’t nice and did steroids in too. So everyone now belongs in. Barry Bonds should be in, Roger Clemens should be in, Alex Rodriguez should be in, Mark McGwire should be in, Sammy Sosa should be in, Gary Sheffield should be in, Manny Ramirez should be in, Andy Pettitte should be in, and Rafael Palmiero should be in. Time to put everyone in the hall of fame.
I guarantee you the people that are refusing to vote some players like Barry Bonds out of the Hall of Fame have not played baseball or never were considered that honor themselves. Pete Rose is another man he was a beast
Everybody knows he's juiced.. but he was also hitting against juiced pitchers.. pitchers that were throwing filth and gas even deep into the game, using sticky stuff. It balanced out, he wasn't the only one
7:29 that's my favorite home run of all-time by any player. When was the last time u saw yankees fans cheering like that for a player from the other team? (That wasn't an ex-Yankee)
Ive met and known so many people that juiced that didnt even come close to getting drafted..im pretty sure there are many more that are using but aren’t good enough to even be mentioned to be using
I don't care what anyone thinks this guy should be in the HOF period. If your argument is steroids then I would argue steroids made the game much more entertaining at the time. Love the game of baseball and always have, but talent is talent steroids or not.
Doesn’t take away from how great he was. People try to say steroids were the reason he was such a great hitter/player and that’s just ludicrous. He was one of the best players to ever play even before the steroids. The steroids just extended his career and gave him some extra power. People also seem to forget that more then half the mlb was using steroids at this time and if steroids make you that much better, then why wasn’t everyone that was using steroids doing what he did? Because Bond’s was already the best before the steroids.
Such a waste hé didn’t need the sauce…he had it all but his ego got in the way…funny thing is if he kept what he had going he would be regarded as the best of his generation..
Quite an ignorant comment. Go look at his stats before he even came to San Francisco and then the first few years before he got huge. He was still the best player in the world.
Que puros cuadrangulares pegó ese pelotero todos los vídeos de el puros cuadrangulares ya aburren que pasen videos donde lo ponchen agan out u otras jugadas
Bonds is the reason why today's players showboat, bat flip, show up pitchers, How can anyone say he's the greatest of all time when he was using steroids? Only the Greats get into the HOF, Sosa, McGwire, Bonds will never get in, Arod either, He stole Aaron's homerun crown and people salute him
Man some of those pitches were impossible to hit & and it did not matter for number 25. One of the greatest joys of my childhood was going to. It was then Pacific Bell park in watching Barry bonds smack one.
