As the story in Game of Shadows goes, Bonds got tired of all the adulation lesser players McGwire and Sosa were receiving, so he had a "hold my beer" moment, took the PED's like those guys were, and then easily surpassed their home run feats. And from there on out, he repeatedly obliterated the intentional walk record because nearly all pitchers thereafter refused to challenge him when first base was open and the lead was on the line. It's too bad PED use was so rampant in baseball, but it's kind of amusing to think a guy who already was one of the 20 greatest players of all time was able to reassert himself as the game's best, by a huge margin, when he evened the playing field for himself. The other guys one PED's were able to make themselves equally good all-around hitters as Bonds, but when Bonds joined them in the PED arms race, it was all over, and Barry was easily alone on top.

You all can hate on Bonds for doing roids as much as you want, but realize if your going to hate him for it your going to have to hate about 90% of the league then, all the way to today because they still do it currently. At the end of the day its their livelyhood, and if theres a great chance the guy throwing you the ball is on it, youll do it too. And if i was playing a game where if i produced i got payed hundreds of millions id be on roids myself just as you would. As long as there is big money in about any sport, PEDs will follow, lets not be naive. Lets just accept Bonds is easily top 10 hitter of all time, argueable the best.

absolutely not😂😂😂😂right field was like 320 feet in the old yankee stadium. it was high and far but obviously dropping where it landed. 500 feet. MAYBE. probably less but i’ll give the benefit of the doubt. 600 on that would just be really unreasonable

For a brief time, (approx) 10 minutes, I actually enjoyed baseball. And then everybody started giving Bonds a hard time about doing steroids, as if that actually made him less interesting. I miss the good old roided up players hitting home runs off of roided up pitchers. Now I'm stuck watching the Diamondbacks play the Padres 19 times a year and that's supposed to be important.

1:24 I was at this game. I remember these guys about 15 rows back from me screaming at Bonds about banging his mother when he was on deck. He looked at these guy like he wanted to jump into the stands and beat the piss out of them. But when he unloaded at the plate, he looked over after he did his home run stare at the guys yelling at him and smiled. I swear that ball was still going up when it hit the upper deck. Absolute rocket.

As somebody who was fortunate enough to see him play live often, it was an experience unlike anything we'll see again. Nearly the whole stadium would stop moving to watch him hit. Every time he would swing, you knew he could go yard. So thankful I got to see the man play.

Barry Bonds deserves to be in HOF!!! You can be the strongest person the world has ever seen but doesn’t mean you can swing a bat and hit a baseball. The two have nothing to do with one another! What Barry did was hand/eye coordination, skill, hard work, and discipline. It’s a crime against him and the game of baseball to not acknowledge what this man did!!!!
