Okay, that mortar design is neat. I never seen a design like that before. Using an artillery cannon to propel the warhead shells into the air and letting them fly towards your enemy.
It is a strange design to be sure, but that being said its also genious and scary at the same time, imagine the system being hit whilst its loading O_O
While I understand having a code of tactics in order to keep things fair and for people to have fun, taking out enemy resources is a valid strategy in combat. This does mean that if the enemy fails to notice you going around to take out their vehicles, it can be considered their fault for failing to defend. But, if you wish to implement a rule where they can only target piloted rovers, or something to that effect, that I leave to you and those on the server to decide!
The problem is that Space Engineers handles collisions between mobile grids.. poorly.. really, really, poorly. This causes the server to crash, which is already dealing with a lot of grids and stuff flying off of them. This already caused a server crash during the fight, so it's best to avoid it when possible.
Having a code is fine, the general code that exist is not to be scummy. It is enforced on the server by a vote to kick by players. The problem is everyone has different acceptible levels of play and history. Running over/ramming/cutting off small grids to destroy them and sabotaging is something most players have done at some point. Some say learn to PVP some say lets all enjoy the fight. In my experience most people doing scummy things are doing it in response to something scummy. It is just then a race to the scummiest behavours.
theres nothing wrong with flanking and disabling the unmanned rovers that was never the issue it was choosing to ram them most SE server BAN ramming as it causes a large number of physics calculations and with large enough grids or complicated scenes will crash the server
7:45 Player was probably playing the game and thinking strategically - not considering the greater point of why we play these games. It's easy to get lost in the "winning at any cost" in the heat of the battle. Not his fault for being creative, and discovering a quick way to win. He just needs to be told by an admin, nothing more :)
Hey! That’s me. Yeah thanks. I got a lot of backlash for that. I just assumed that it would make the fight end quicker and us win. Arron forgot to leave out an important part as to why we all massed up against RaB and that is due to them attacking everyone.
@@arfbark3924 Mostly not. Only if you creatively do something bad for everyone's overall experience. Creativity is like intelligence - not good or bad, it's a tool - depends on how you use it :)
I think that move would be valid in a time of war, but agree that it's a bit against the spirit of the server. Have to say though, using a destroyed rover as a "human" shield was a good idea, turning that human shield into a Trojan horse once shoved out the way was brilliant.
I dont think thats fair that a server crash allowes them to reset mid battle essentially acting as a rewind when they messed up. you should of re positioned the vehicles where they where in relatively the same condition,I get you dont know the exact condition they where in but at least close. Else you might start running into cases where people have hidden devices that have a high chance of crashing the server and if they take a huge loss they can just hit the crash button and reset.
@@olebergskas1821 yeah but with how crashy the game is and how much stuff is going on in a battle its gonna be really hard to figure that out unless a specific faction or person do it way way too much
Wow, these last 2-3 narrated videos we're great! Clear overview, we know what's going on, who's doing what (so we can appreciate it) I used to watch these before they had more commentary and felt like the old boomer grandmother who's like: "ma grandsun is showin me dis faancy computa game, I haav no adea what's gouing on in it" :)
7:52 To answer your question. Personally I think it's a fair strategy in a war, you don't want them to scramble any defenses, you want to secure the objective, it provides you with an advantage especially in a captured vehicle to remove and even distract defenders from attacking the main force. But I do think it's un-sportsman like, I feel like it's more in spirt of the game to push to the limits the ability of the defenders and even attackers in sportsman like war conduct. So I think the guy was attempting to commit what would be considered a "war crime". To make the comparison, especially considering the crime that is clang.
The way you presented this battle was great i loved the arrows at the start and i would love to see battles covered like this in the future perhaps you could use the curved style of arrow and create some map lines to show a clear area of territory like you see in war maps.
This idea!!! This would bring the video up a level. The narration was good and the simple arrows helped a lot with understanding the starting strategy. Maybe a small color indicator near each rover/person could help in better clarity on which vehicle is which?
ME PERSONALLY, "WAR IS WAR!" to quote an old Devil Dog from Nam. You come to win, its NOT a "gentleman's sport" and you come into it expecting to get the crap kicked outta you while you are tryina kick the crap outta the other guy. Now as far as server lag, that is something never experienced in real life, and in game where things are that much different, I would have to wholesale ban all ramming for that reason, but only for that reason. In fact, personally, I would have dropped down under the line of enemy fire and burrowed into the base from beneath and sabotaged it. But then in real life, that was part of my job, so it comes to me first nature.
Not allowed to do that on the server anymore. The race to the bottom in being scummy is what leads to empty dead servers that some '3lit3 pvp' factions turned into a flaming dumpster.
running around the base with intent to ram was a bad idea if they had brought warheads or guns running around back would have been better. or even if they decide to park it at the back entrance to prevent the rovers from getting out would have been fine as well.
I'm an American & former front line infantryman with the US Army. Now in regards to the player behind the base attempting to ram the smaller rovers. I believe such tactics & the like r entirely valid & to limit or negate such tactics only stipples offensive & defensive innovation & thought progression, as well as restricting ones ability to think in a non linear, outside the box manner. Chivalry has no place in combat for war does not determine who is right, only who is left. As Serenity actor Adam Baldwin said, "il, kill a man in a fair fight, or if I think he's gonna start one. In this, I firmly believe that any "dirty" tactic is entirely employable & furthermore, should b. From ramming & orbital bombardment to base undermining & the use of exploits such as Klang cannons & that pop up target projection shield. One should always expect the unexpected.
To copy what someone else Said: "Its more about the action of ramming itself, many other raids had unmanned vehicles destroyed either on target or in crossfire. Either or tho has its crowd that likes it, the ye old hardcore vs fairplay vs softcore type deal"
I really wish LSG had an anti grind mod, where an enemy grinding your friendly grids, takes significantly longer with hand tools. Hopefully this would solve the grinder Greg issues.
Grinder gregging is not allowed and lots of people have been kicked for it. The mods for it are pretty good. The main fix though is no jetpacks, for mad arron there are no jetpacks.
Loved the video @LastStandGamers! Can't wait for the next video man! That Move around the back to crush the Smaller Rovers while as much of a Solid Strategy as it is, it seems a Little bit Scummy as you're risking another Server Crash and The Defenders might work something out to prevent you from doing that again. *Wind of Destruction aka The Hot Wind Blowing from "Metal Gear Rising: Revengence, Wind of Destruction DLC" Plays in the Background*
A severely missed opportunity for a turret, the statue was a nice touch; but I would have placed a couple railgun turrets. Give them some heavy armour shields to block rockets, and from a distance you could easily core the rovers.
How do you deal with jetpacks in PvP? I find it ruins the game being able to fly around super fast in a circle, avoiding all bullets and making infantry fighting unfun and chaotic.
Was a bit of a happy accident that had to run a errand just when the event started so stuck the camera up there and hope that i could get back in time.
If it can, I might play again. SE just becomes so boring building and collecting only for the game to slow to a frame a second or just crashing the moment you use any combat.
@@WizardBrandon Not the attack itself, mostly the fact that he was ramming a bunch which they had agreed not to. The actual tactic of going around and splitting the attackers is a good idea.
Fun to watch, but I do have to say, I don't think cheeseburger bombs on wheels are as far removed from simple ramming as tactical purists would like to believe. Besides, they had blast door spikes jutting out all over the field, I don't see why they couldn't stick 'em on the walls of their base too. I would ask if that was a design gap because nobody thought of it, or if it was because ramming is frowned upon so no one expected it? Therefore I think that in terms of a server like this, you have to make a decision between pure battle and a story you're trying to tell for content.
@@imperialguardcommissar1359 Yes I did tell you off, but thing is for the uninformed IM a Moderator in the server. So therefore If I tell you off theres a good bloody reason for it!
"Scummy tactics" aren't "illegal tactics." It's not even possible to write a rune derived from First Principles that bans "scummy tactics" due to Hume's Guillotine, and the fact that "scummy tactics" are a subjective value judgment.
I always wondered, how do they get all the resources to build so much stuff yet we never see any mines or anything, and what survival setting do the servers use
Played on LSG they have voxel cleanup so long as you mine between 2-5K from permanent statics the map fills in reduces strain on server from perm deformations rendering hence all the no nos about ramming during base raids specifically the creator will be there draining sim speed all season long
Jeez this server is lagg heavy with all the massive grids! The game is in DIRE NEED of optimisation too, the mods for this server need to scale down the amount of grids to reduce that horrible lagg!
Honestly I understand that server crashes in a game like SE are sometimes unavoidable, but do you really have to let one side gain such a big advantage? They made a poor play, got punished for it and then had the server crash undo that bad play. I guess it would be a bit tedious to do this every time a server crash happens but it just feels terrible to know that the results could have gone entirely differently had the server not crashed.
It was a rough fight, tough for RAB under the overwhelming circumstances! Great to see though even outnumbered they were not outmatched or outclassed though! That being said not sure how I feel about the person attempting to crush small grids. While yes its a valid tactic at the same token, it takes the fun out of fighting and just seems sweaty and tryhardy. But thats just my opinion!
Getting upset at the lack of loot and pvp on day 3 of the server when everyone else has barely started and you raid everyone on the server is dumb. Then getting salty when the whole server came after them.. delicious salt.
One of the reasons I dont like the idea of your server is its almost like you promote ganging up on others.. Its kinda sad its such a one sided fight when youve got multiple factions attacking a single one... Its happened multiple times and honestly I feel like it ruins the experience both for the players who worked so hard building their bases as well as for those watching your content
The faction being attacked is the largest active faction that spent 3 weeks raiding annoying goading and attacking all the other factions. If you were on the server you probably have been getting some payback too.
This is not a normal thing and has only happened a few times in lsg history. The reason it did happen was because a lot of factions got attacked by RAB as they specifically chose to be aggressors this season and with that acknowledged that a counter attack from other factions may happen. It was a big attack but alot of the factions who attacked rab also gave away resources to help them get back up and running again.
this game doesn't work at all. its incredible how you still like it after all these years. its really lame how the devs never made let it become anything more than a buggy sandbox.
As the leader of RaB I'm calling BS on your comment. Most seasons we are the good guys and only tried to play the bad guys this season because no one else was (minus LootGoblin)
As their number one most most wanted. I feel that’s a real overstatement. They play fair (most of the times). They could really wipe the server if they wanted to but they limit themselves.
because they were ramming. Which might've caused the server to crash again (which is why you're not supposed to do it). If they were sitting in the back with a gun shooting the rovers, that's fair game. Hell they could've gotten out after blocking the back entrance with the disabled captured rover, dropped some explosives, and satchel-charged the docked rovers and it would've still be a perfectly valid action. A bit scummy, but fully legal and not really violating any rules. The problem was the ramming, because it potentially causes issues for the whole server stability.
