Basset Hound vs Deer in Yard. Deer win, but basset hound puts up a good defense of her yard. Lexy, the basset hound is in an invisible fence area and the young deer have figured a way to get around her.
Wild deer have several synchronous body signals that align with dog signals. That's why you often find deer and dogs developing relationships and bonds with one another. In this case, it was the front legs splayed a bit with ears far forward in a bit of a "sudden bowing" motion which represents "play" for both species. It is a common universal language among mid sized mammals.
Deer #1: Why is that duffel bag barking at us? Deer#2: I think it's a dog. Deer#1: Noooooo. Deer#2: It has a tail. Deer#1: That's probably just the strap. Deer#2: Duffel bags can't bark. Deer#1: This one can.
I have a Doberman and the Deer understand she’s not going further than the wire fence. The bed down every night only feet away to remain safe from the coyote pac which run wild in my area. The coyotes are afraid of the Doberman. Nature is fun to watch.
As he said the coyotes are absolutely NOT afraid of your dobie. Denser bones denser muscles longer claws and actual survival combat experience. They will not flee a fight with your dobie, whose biology has been significantly weakened compared to wild canines. Truth is neither would stop til one died and nature favors wildly evolved dna.
Dog "Don't cross line of death... right there by the trees..." Deer "You mean... these trees? Right here?" Dog "O.K. I make new line of death by these trees over here..."
"I am the protector of this yard, are you guys friendly, if not I will have to go discuss what to do next with my Mom, otherwise how do you like the place, pretty nice huh".🤣
Habituated to the dogs presence. In Chicago growing up once in a great while a dumb deed would be seen wandering city streets. They get used to their surroundings like any animal is all.
My two encountered a doe and three or four fawns in a local park a few weeks ago. They wanted the deer to play, and were tugging at their leashes with everything they had with that goal in mind. I didn't let them loose.
Awesome guard dog - lol he's beautiful! I will be driving over 500 plus miles next week to pick up our 8 weeks of age basset hound. The entire family can't wait to share many years of joy!!! We named him Rufus, super excited!
My husband called our basset daisy a window warrior becuase she will bark at the one by the door and in the car but when she comes out she’s a sweetheart to the dog she was barking and growling at. No more tough dog when she’s not behind something lol
He's a fox hunter literally thousands of dog generations bred based on how strongly they give chase. He's literally incapable of behaving any other way
Deer #1: "Hey, look at that wolf. What's wrong with its legs?" Deer #2: "Is he in a hole?" Deer #1: "I don't think so. His legs are just really short." Deer #2: "Hey, let's see if he can keep up with us. Let's run and see if he chases us."
