I will say there’s a line in Batman and Robin that I unironically love, and it’s from Alfred when Bruce is asking Alfred if he has any regrets about being the butler to the Wayne’s and whatnot Alfred responds with: “my only regret is that I could not be out there with you” Like that just feels so fatherly and wholesome from Alfred

I’ve been looking forward to “this” video for so long. Some”thing” I always love about Marcus “is” that he always takes the time to be “nicer” to movies like these “than” most critics would be by viewing the movies in the context of their release. Can’t wait to watch part two in “my apartment”.

Marcus, I'm dying man where's the part 2

Gonna gush about Batman Forever for a sec: The scene in the circus tent where harvey has everyone held hostage with a bomb has ALWAYS been one of my favorite superhero scenes ever because it shows both Batman and Robin's personalities so well; Batman, being on a date with Chase Meridian, had let his guard down for one night, and it put a lot of FAMILIES in danger since he couldn't just swoop in and kick two face's butt, and the timer was down to minutes. As he is a solo act, he has no backup, no way to contact Alfred, and so he does the one thing he can do: he admits he is batman. But the commotion drowns him out. As batman, the only thing he can do is try to save everyone, by conceding. Because he knew it was his fault. At the same time, you have Dick Greyson, whose family is doing a cirque du soleil ass act to distract the bad guy, and he's the one who is hauling ass to neutralize the bomb, because /it's the right thing to do/. His family dies protecting the city. He was not there to save them, which weighs heavily on him. And yet, he saved a whole city without hiding his identity. He was the hero that night, his whole family was. But because batman took a night off, he'd never get to celebrate it. Out of guilt and out of obligation, Bruce takes Dick in, unaware that they had already done a job as Batman and Robin. Not that it's cinematic perfection or anything, but the people who wrote that part really got it.

Putting the batman beyond theme at the end is such a nice touch. Its such a great show and really made me think "This thing is nicer than my apartment"

To address your complaint as to why Max Schreck is so prominent in Batman Returns, the character was originally supposed to be Harvey Dent. Instead of the explosion at the end of the film killing him, it was to scar his face and set him up as Two-Face for the third film.

I've ironically/unironically loved Kiss from a Rose for over a decade - I never knew it was made for Batman Forever. The fact that it was, just makes me love it even more.

The interesting thing about Val Kilmers Batman is that there’s a lot of deleted dialogue that suggests he has killed before. There’s deleted Two-Face dialogue of him laughing at the idea that Batman “doesn’t kill.” There’s also a really cool deleted scene of Bruce having an internal monologue with himself, and he realizes that he doesn’t know who he is anymore, because both his Bruce and Batman personality’s have melted into one, which is why the director chose to include Two- Face in the movie. Classic split personality villain. My theory is that in the early drafts of Batman Forever, we were gonna start with a Batman who has kinda lost his way, and the movie was gonna be about him trying to find out who he is and who he used to be before he went down a dark path. But then Warner Bros just cut out this amazing subplot for no fucking reason. You can watch the deleted scenes on RU-vid tho.

My favorite thing in batman and robin is when mr freeze informs the audience that after the heat death of the universe everything will reach absolute zero in the end. And then in a scene later supplements the phrase “say cheese” with “say freeze”. What an absolute masterpiece

Honestly glad to see someone acknowledge that Nicholson's Joker is arguably more dangerous and darker than Ledger's; I will wholly accept that the latter gives a better performance overall, but nothing from Ledger straddles the line of 'dark' and 'hilarious' as the 'I'm glad you're dead!' bit from '89. I also appreciate that '89's Joker isn't locked into the typical Batman/Joker stories we get these days, where Joker's cruelty is neverendingly escalating to try and get Batman to snap and Batman just goes 'Hrrn' and throws him back into Arkham. Nicholson's Joker doesn't give a *shit* about Batman beyond the fact he's stealing his spotlight, and it's pretty refreshing these days.

In Returns, neither Bruce nor Selina are aware of each other secret identity until the bal scene. This is what makes that moment where they finally discover each other secret so heartbreaking, with both realizing that their relationship is doomed

I will say there is only one thing Clooney did well. His Batman showed a sliver of humanity when dealing with Victor at the end of the movie. He pleaded with his humanity to save a life. That is very rare for any live action Batman to pull off and I appreciated that.

59:22 I never noticed this until now. Clooney is still wearing the sonar suit, but Robin is in the red suit from the beginning of the movie. This means they got back home from a big fight and saved the city from Mr. Freeze, yet Robin decided the first thing to do was to switch to his favorite costume. He’s even behind Barbara, implying he was the last one to show up to Alfred’s almost dead carcass. 🤣

I still remember the chills I got watching Tim Burton's Batman for the very first time as a kid. The Gothic-style cinematography, Danny Elfman's haunting score, and Jack Nicholson's iconic Joker performance left an indelible mark on me that has stayed with me to this day. It was like stepping into another world, one that felt both familiar yet eerily unfamiliar at the same time. And when Michael Keaton emerged from the shadows as Bruce Wayne/Batman, it was nothing short of breathtaking. This film ignited my passion for superhero movies and set the bar high for what a comic book adaptation could be. Truly, it remains a classic masterpiece that continues to inspire and delight audiences of all ages. To quote a friend of mine who recently watched it again, "This thing is nicer than my apartment."
