It feels like WB hate Arkham and are giving investors reasons to never make Arkham again

It’s really sad they’ve gone from understanding Batman at his very core to no longer being able to even understand their product.

Before the game came out I was sad that Aquaman didn’t show up since he is a founding member of the Justice League. Now I’m glad he wasn’t in the game because I would have got pissed off of what happened to Batman or Flash happened to Aquaman. It was hard enough to see that happen to Flash Superman Batman and Green Lantern.

I think what should happen and what could regain Arkham fans trust is first off remaster or remake Arkham origins or even port it so it can be played on newer consoles. It’s a good opportunity to release it along side Arkham Shadow to build hype. Hopefully Arkham Shadow sets up more Arkham prequel games to come with Roger Craig Smith. Then they can bring Arkham back to its roots.

I think a SS game could have been great. Think about it the ending to AO literally hints at it and it’s the perfect bridge between Batman and the rest of DC. It’s not that we wanted Arkham we wanted Arkham treatment to the rest of DC. Remember the line this makes you feel like Batman. We wanted that for everything

I 100% agree with your point on "subverting expectations." If you want to put a spin on things, they actually have to have good writing behind it, which a lot of the times there just isn't.

Not my fav but other than insomniac the Guardians Of The Galaxy game is really good story wise(gameplays alright, I didn’t mind it but I see how people might)

My favorite superhero game is Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. I grew up with this game and learned about marvel through this game. 2nd unironically might be fortnite, i do not care if my superheroes are using guns its just the sandbox like aspect of playing as Superman, TMNT, or Spiderman. 75% of the designs are great and their gliders also stay true to the source material. They also occasionally have massive collabs that include in-game content such as Spiderman's webshooters Cap's shield, batterangs, and a whole dedicated season to marvel. Now would the be the best time to get into fortnite because it's already confirmed that next season will be centered around Marvel.

The crazy thing is with Arkham Shadow; the DEVELOPER had to go to WB to pitch this game. If that didn’t happen there’d be nothing new at all. Utterly baffling. This series is a license to print money, yet we’ve had no major Triple A Batman game in 10 years now. If Rocksteady had made a good game based on Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman or whoever I think we’d all be far more understanding and patient for another Batman game at some point. The saddest thing for me? The fact I no longer care one bit about anything Rocksteady or WB Montréal are doing. Both of them have to win back my trust big time after both Gotham Knights and SSKTJL. I remember being hyped for them both to show something up until E3 2019 and always being disappointed we didn’t get to see it but stupidly thinking “The longer it takes for them to reveal the games, the better they’ll be.” How oblivious I feel now. 🙃 As for Sefton and Jamie’s new studio? I’m willing to give it a chance but I am very aware they were heavily involved in what we got with SSKTJL and they left when the heat ramped up. I don’t have a lot of respect for them after that.

Meta reached out to WB to ask them if they could make a Arkham game. It being a VR exclusive is because a VR company asked WB if they could use the IP. WB didn't make a VR game instead of a new regular Arkham game, if not for Meta there would be no Arkham Shadow.

Favorite non Arkham superhero games for me are the insomniac Spider-Man games (obvious answer), but the real close to the chest answer is the inFAMOUS series. Love the games, characters, the karma stuff, powers, everything. I love the idea of an original character, who's just a guy, getting all this power and dealing with it.

I call bull, wb have constantly stated over the yrs the future for them is live service games, rocksteady was rumoured to be working on another game before it was cancelled and suicide squad began, sefton prob under contract when left the company had it wrote by wb that they couldnt talk about why they left, i can remember a interview when arkham asylum came out sefton and the team happy as they where left todo what the wanted, same as with city, then wb bought rocksteady , then on arkham knight warner bros started to have a bigger input on what they wanted from the game, unless sefton or walker come out with a statment then it all hear say, but for me it was wb that sunk rocksteady

Favorite Non Arkham superhero game has got to be the Insomniac spiderman games. Second favorite character to Batman and they took the Arkham formula and did it justice.

Definitely understand all your points, though I did want to come from the other side of the VR game debate. In my opinion, Arkham Shadow is supposed to be the secondary release to Suicide Squad, the same way Arkham VR was secondary to Knight, and Blackgate to Origins. Even Arkham City Lockdown could be in this category. The issue is because Suicide Squad didn't work out, people are now more frustrated that Shadow is not a traditional style game, and I don't think it should be their fault for that. Truthfully I've wanted to see what they could do with that concept ever since the original Arkham VR came out, it felt like something they could build off of and I'm incredibly happy that they actually thought the same thing. I do understand the limitations like room sizes, or feeling motion sickness, but I feel like the utter anger and dismay for the game is a little overblown.

I really like the Guardians of the Galaxy game.

When it comes to favorite non Arkham superhero games, I love the Insomniac Spider Man games, Telltale Batman, and I guess LEGO Batman counts as well

X-Men Origins Wolverine is my favorite superhero game.

When Suicide Squad was marketed, I was excited to be getting a different type of video game from the usual types. The usual types being single player experiences. I was excited about all of the possibilities they could have done. I was confused why people trashed the marketing. When the game finally released, I was happy with the gameplay, traversal visuals etc. But the story was terrible. I still saw people trashing it. But I had hope that the Joker DLC would have fixed most, if not all of their problems about the game. I was wrong there too. I just saw a limited bunch of missions, more repetitive grind just to get the Joker, a battle pass that was so bad, and you could buy the Joker with real money. I was really disappointed. I actually praised Rocksteady for trying to do something different. But I fail to understand that Rocksteady is cursed to make single player games now. Many game studios can make a variety of games. Why not Rocksteady? After all of this, I still think that a live service multi player superhero game can work. I am looking at Marvel Rivals and the possible Invincible game for live service experience. If it can work for other studios like for example Arrowhead (Holdovers 2), why can't it work outside that? The arkham games has literally inspired other companies to make a single player combat game and it turned out well. And now rocksteady has lost that respect. I really don't get why rocksteady decided to make suicide squad set after arkham knight, if anything, I'd prefer batman beyond

Arkham Knight ends the Arkham Series there for me. Anything else that comes after that is meaningless, nothing and non-canon.

I think a good way to make games going forward is to make them a flat screen and VR version like No Man Sky has done. You buy one and have it on both flat screen and VR platform.

Hey Jay I did have a question and yes even before it’s release and besides the fact it’s on VR. Do you think Batman Arkham Shadow will have some overall good added on lore to the story almost like Batman VR was? Just curious since everyone was super hyped about the Arkham Shadow trailer and I’m glad they’re going back to hopefully fill in some blanks between Origins and Asylum.

Going back to your question at the start of the video I’ve always been a fan of edgy spiderman games Web of shadows for the most part, the parts of the raimi spiderman 3 game that weren’t broken (I mean that arsenic candy theme is so nostalgic to me), and most of the insomniac spiderman 2 game as in the parts that didn’t suck

Batman Rise of Sin Tzu: 😭🖤 The Gotham knights before Gotham knights but with the DCAU BTAS cast and I was and still am unhealthily obsessed with this game GameCube 😭 pretty decent story and plot. Good characters and everyone feels different to some degree. As a kid who was obsessed and still am obsessed with this universe. I HAD to have this game 😂 I remember seeing the trailer the very first time and new it was something special and I’ve beaten it 5738283636819283634 times and that’s with each character so you do the math 😂😂😂

On the VR thing, when I would try to play at someone elses house, it was feel like is poking your eyes and would definitely cause motion sickness. On another idea, the aftermath of playing on VR is horrible. I just stopped playing it for years now.

Speaking of someone who does genuinely love The suicide squad game I enjoy it for what it is do I wish all the life service stuff would have been removed 100%, if it was just a borderlands-esque fourplayer co-op looter shooter I think it would have worked much better the story I'm not bothered by in the sense of I enjoy what was there I think the characterizations were pretty correct for the most part but it's clearly not done it's not finished here at all And the live service model makes that incredibly unsatisfying because at this point we just want to know where these characters end up Aunt they're trickling out this it feels like half-hearted post-launch content and that really sucks. I don't understand the choices that they're making for the costumes there's so many incredible costumes that I would purchase with real money even though it's a $70 full price game and I spent the $100 to get the deluxe edition I would still spend it because I love these characters in this world but I'm not spending money on gentleman ghost you know what I mean. And the lack of any real story at the moment is a real bummer it's just a lot of time wasting missions That progress nothing. That's the thing I genuinely don't like about the game. This game gets a lot more mileage out of me because of my love of this universe but even I have a hard time defending some of the decisions happening with it.

I’ve recently been playing the Mad Max game, and while it’s not necessarily a superhero game, it’s plays in a similar way to the Arkham games. It is also very underrated.

Not to mention, negative articles in VR are often exaggerated. I'm sorry but the fact that you think a $500 device that doesn't require a TV (which consoles do in the same price) is expensive? shows that you didn't really do much research. lol which has almost the same amount of games as consoles. You think Batman Arkham Shadow is the only game on Quest 3? This "VR Console" has enough games from Roguelikes, FPS/RTS Hybrid, Stealth Games to an Open World Game it has the most games among the VR platforms (it has more games than PSVR2) It's fine if you're not interested in VR but at least try not to talk out of your ass, majority of you mainstream gamers/media do that most of the time when it comes to VR.

Great video Jay to answer your question my favorite non-Arkham superhero game is the Deadpool game it is so fun and funny too play but the ps4 copy of it is a lot but the ps3 version is not that much and I say the Insomniac spider-man games are my second answer to you question Jay and it is disappointing to me that Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker are responsible for the type of game this game is and how it turns out and Jay I agree with you about Arkham shadow I don’t have a VR headset to play it or I don’t have the space

If y’all want a different take on Batman that almost feels like Robert Pattinson‘s version of the character. Check out TellTale’s the Batman! The gameplay is a bit niche feeling more akin to playing a movie, but it’s a fun take that lets you as a player decide if you want to be more Batman or more Bruce Wayne. Plus, it has an original villain that is completely unique to its story, AND managed to do a different dynamic on the Batman Joker duo in a way that is actually really fascinating!

My favorite Superhero game other then Arkham Knight would have to be Spider man ps4, other then Batman and Spider man thought, Prototype 2 is my favorite Superhero game, it's basically Venom the game but with tons of blood and gore, it's one hell of a time would definitely recommend it, it usually gose on sale pretty frequently and is on all platforms.

Honestly I consider this game what Tv Tropes consider it, a spin off to the Arkham series. Nothing more nothing less. I mean they are considering Arkham VR and Arkham Shadows to be of the main story. You're seriously underplaying DEI bro. It didn't just affect dialogues and logs. It affected the plot itself and even the design of characters. The new HQ design and her going out of her way to criticize her old costume is DEI. How they treated the Flash and John Stewart IS DEI. HQ being romantic with a kid Poison Ivy (as if to imply that in the Arkhamverse HQ and Poison Ivy were romantically involved, which was never the case in the first case) is DEI. How the Joker has "insecurities" and the choice to have a "Mrs" Freeze instead of a Mr Freeze, as well as her design, all that bullsh!t *IS DEI* !!!! SweetBaby Inc and Rocksteady's DEI choices affected the game so much. Maybe it isn't the 80% or even the 60% of the blame for the game's failure, but it is at least a full 30% and that's no small percentage.

Lego dc super villains. Because you got to create a character that was in the story.

Arkham fans have a right to be upset Rocksteady wasted everyone's time with Woke Squad. Why the hell would we want to kill the Justice League? We want to play as them instead. We should've gotten Justice League: Slaughter the Woke Squad instead. That game would've made more money. The Arkhamverse had so much potential and all that potential was wasted on a Suicide Squad game. Suicide Squad is a cursed IP. It's a shame Kevin Conroy's last performance was wasted. Kevin and Arkham Batman deserve better. Never let Warner Brothers, Sweet Baby Inc, or Rocksteady cook again.
