You can see how much work they put into this movie. Tim had a great crew.

Burton was so right about his choice of Michael Keaton playing the Batman. Nobody has come close to touching his performance since. Bale was a better Bruce Wayne but his spitting, growling Batman with a speech impediment was kinda comical.
@navylaks2

Michael Keaton was way to shot to play Batman and was never intimidating Bale is the only actor who's been able to balance all 3 personas
@godphoenix66x
@godphoenix66x 2 года назад
@@navylaks2 I absolutely agree. I honestly never understood the casting of Michael Keaton as Batman. There's nothing super-heroish about the guy. Great actor but I never bought him as Batman or Bruce Wayne. I think the people who think he's the best Batman actor are out of their minds but to each their own. I think Bale nailed the role perfectly.

Not in the slightest his voice was realistic and Intimidating

@tylertilwick6852 Год назад
@@navylaks2 no Keaton was definitely a better Batman than Bale, I’ll give him that. Bale felt too try-hard, where’s Keaton had the intimidating presence with little to no words at all.
@tylertilwick6852
@tylertilwick6852 Год назад
@@godphoenix66x that’s what made him great tho IMO, he’s someone you’d never expect as Batman so he blends in. Which is what Keaton’s Bruce Wayne is about. He doesn’t want to draw attention and is more of an introvert if anything.

There's always one of those commenters. They were both teenagers and ghost writing was standard practice back then. Without Bob Kane, Finger wouldn't have had a job in comics in the first place! Can't we sleep peacefully knowing one of the many men who contributed to the Batman character got to see the dark character finally get fame & recognition he deserved? I'm sure it made Bob Kane a very happy man.

when they announced the making of this movie, people were worried because burton and keaton were primarily known for their comedic work, so we all assumed this would be a campy movie, like the tv series. Then the movie came out, and people were just blown away. It wasn't perfect, but they did get so many things rights, the most important one being a return of the character to what it originally was: A dark, disturbed character, perfectly embodied in keaton's inspired performance

When this Batman came out it was a very exciting time that summer. It was just the summer of Batman, super hype everywhere, fun times. Prince's soundtrack also had some insanity to it, its based on the duality of evil/good, etc. one of Prince's great works. The outtakes are pretty great too.

5:57/ Love how despite the visuals being a bleak, anarchic version of NYC, it was still NYC! The street signage and metal Gotham decals hanging from the lamposts were clearly inspired by the signage along Avenue of The Americas (6th Avenue.) God bless Anton Furst for adding those little touches and details to remind viewers of the real world inspirations for Burton's Gotham City. Just one of the many aspects that came together to make 1989's BATMAN a cinematic classic!🇵🇷🇺🇸😎

Same here stephbrakurt. The only difference was that it took me longer than 5 minutes to see what Nolan saw in Ledger. I think it was about 2 months before I saw the 2nd trailer, I started to have hope Ledger could do it. The trailer pretty much proved Ledger was able to pull it off This was way before I saw Insomnia, The Prestige, and Memento, so I had no idea how great a director Nolan was at the time

Thats what I believe too, before you wrote the message. Jack's joker was SO himself in makeup, and the movie was pretty much given to him. A lot of people think Jack stole the show, but the show was really given to him. Heath Ledger is perfect, and noone ever suspected it. Very polite man, nice to be around. Great actor, but played protaganist So when he plays the Joker, lot of people didn't think he would be good at all. But now look.

Those are right, I must say. The Long Halloween, however, figures more on "The Dark Knight," as witness the triad of batman, Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent. Burton wanted to tell stories of depth and gravity: the general mood of the early 90's, however, did not find it quite very pleasing. That is why Burton himself commended Nolan for putting into play an idea which he wasn't wasn't able to follow through.

Fair points. I just found Begins a fairly dry experience. I was sort of into the first half, but I thought the final action sequence was an incomprehensible mess, and as a whole it just wasn't grand, it was more of a crime story that happened to have Batman in it - which, as you've said, was probably the point. Also, and this may discredit me in your eyes for good, but I didn't think Batman Forever was that bad. As for Batman and Robin...well...I think it speaks for itself.

Well, that was the point which most miss. You might put it as Batman 1989 is already an established, mature Batman, more for the fans of the comic. That makes sense, as the presence of Batman is alive before. The Nolan series were a reboot of it, a remedy to the plague Schumacher has heaped on the Caped Crusader. They were reintroducing Batman to the kids now, who are lost and may not understand the Burton era if they watched it. Burton roots from Bob Kane, Nolan roots from Moore and Miller.

Well in saying that Batman Forever ain't really bad, I would agree. It just so happened that in hindsight, it became tacky for us. I understand the differences betwen Ledger´s protrayal and Nicholson´s, while Ledger´s was the dangerous sociopath from "The Killing Joke", Nicholson´s was more the histrionic murderer clown from "Gotham Central", is just that Ledger´s rol was more natural than Nicholson´s, and that is actually some of the reasons people now prefer Ledger´s Joker, but overall both Jokers were good.

I agree as well. They claim to have made both Batman and James Bond more serious for modern audiences, but IMO all they've done is strip the fun out of the characters while still keeping the bad punchlines (eg Oldman's 'gotta get me one of those'). Upon reflection, Batman 89 may not have gotten it all right, but I still find it a lot more exciting than Begins. I haven't bothered with The Dark Knight. Too many people like it, ala The Simpsons Movie. I trust the minority.

Begins is the best adaptation of Batman, but lets face it, its not the most entertaining of the series, 89 Batman is. Forever definitely changed things around a bit but I feel its a "missed opportunity". If it had been done right, (darker, subplot intact, accurate portrayal of twoface) it could have been the best bat film to date

Man, so many arguments! If you reeaally care so much about the integrity of the comics, then mail some checks direct to the writers & artists behind 'em. No matter which movie franchise sells better, they get nuthin. Thankfully Kane & Robinson had SOME input in these things, otherwise DC might as well have made 'em styrofoam coffins (w/ Jerry's waiting)! Personally, I am an 80's man, but I enjoyed TAS the most. Anywho, never saw this clip before. It was swell!
