Just wanted to remind you because quite often people forget that Killer Croc never actually shows up in the episode and it was Batman disguised as him the whole time. Batman made Croc intentionally seem a bit dummer so that the other villains would feel comfortable sharing their secrets. Waylon (Croc's real name) is actually smarter than most people think.
4:12 “I threw a rock at him!” Literally one of the best quotes in this series. (And it’s even funnier when you realize that was Batman in disguise, meaning he knows exactly what Killer Croc would say.)
Okay that was a great episode. Whoever down at the studio that thought of the villains getting together playing cards and talking about times they almost got Batman, you better be living comfortably🤑. Forget dogs playing poker, someone get me a painting of Batman's Rouge Gallery on the board🤯. Two-Face really fumbled his own plans thanks to that coin, how Batman even got a hold of it will be a mystery but Harvey really would've had him💀. I will never take Killer Croc seriously after this episode, yeah it was Batman in disguise but bro really had me convinced Croc was actually a clown😂. 4:07 - 4:28 had me dying and replaying that part a few times, the villains just staring at him was the icing on the cake🤣. Batman and the GCPD about to get hella recognition from the city after busting Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Penguin, and Joker🤩. Those some of the main hitters right there, but watch one of them escape next episode 😵💫.
Someone down there at the studio said how about instead of another animal episode we make a banger.😂Two-Face was the only one other then joker were he was close to taking the batman out the picture. everyone else was not close. Killer croc also was not close because buddy is already in prison, they also ruining Croc's career the streets are not gonna respect him after this.
7:12 Not much is known about The Joker's origins, however in "Everybody Dance Now" (Batman: Dark Detective issue 5) Joker recaps his silver age origin story (About the same as the you know, only Red Hood created to mask to breathe under water, and while making his escape he jumped into the chemcials foolishly thinking the mask would protect him from the effects of the waste). Joker notes "I've always been smarter than everyone else. My first life" I was an inventor -- And a criminal, of course.", Later in his speech he explains that his house is filled with boobytraps "I'm still an inventor. Only now I invent death traps. On the long lonely nights, I let my mind ramble to its darkest recesses and i bring back what I find." This seems to confirm that Joker creates all his own gagdets.
One thing that always bothered me was Poison Ivy being included in the line up of villains as opposed to someone like Riddler due to him being way more well known than her and in general when most people think the biggest villain leaders in Gotham it's always Joker, Penguin and Riddler and sometimes Two-Face.
Awesome episode where they show other parts of the villains almost getting Batman of 4 different ones. From Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Penguin, Joker with Harley, and a bit of Killer Croc telling the story. That part was always funny. Same with Catwoman making her entrance to aid Batman who was in trouble in one of them. But yeah, a really good episode here and such to watch any time.
Imagine the whole night while Batman has that rubber croc suit on. He’s just thinking “Man, I beat them so bad that the only thing they have to compete with is how close they got to not losing.”
It's funny you mentioned that you were curious about how Batman got the giant penny, because the way he got in the comics was much different than in BTAS. In the comics, Batman got the penny from the villain Penny Plunderer. To see the history behind it, watch the video "The Confusing and Gruesome History of Batman's Giant Penny" from "Casually Comics".
For some reason it didn't show up last time I wrote it, but to understand better what I meant regarding some of the controversial writing choices regarding The Flash, please watch the video ""The REAL return of Barry Allen" from "comic pop".
Now ya know how he got the penny. Remember The Batman? In that series Batman got the penny from The Ventriloquist, which I bet you've forgotten about since that that only happened right at the start of an episode before moving on to the main story. Would you like to know how it goes in the comics? It's too weird to explain it all! The giant penny has an intersting history, over the years across different canons there's been stories that show it orignating from one-time villain The Penny Plunderer, Two-Face, and Riddler. In fact, during the silver age they must've felt Penny Plunderer was small potatoes, so it was reconned to have come from the case of "The Joker's Bad Penny Crimes". This Joker story was never seen on-screen, but it was actaully reconned again that Superman had helped Batman in that case, meaning Superman got to have a giant penny in his Fortress of Solitude just like our favorite Dark Knight. Oh, you're wondering about Two-Face? Well, the first story in which Two-Face scraps Batman to a giant coin was "Two-Face Strikes Again!" (Batman issue 81), now that was a giant silver dollar like the little scarred one he flips, but it was reconned in "Two Of A Kind" (Batman issue 410) that the giant panny came from him. The concept of the giant penny itself originated in "The Penny Plunderers" (World's Finest Comics issue 30).
This episode was the first instance in the entire show where Catwoman was actually used well. Starting with this episode, all of her future appearances are far better than the previous episodes with Catwoman which were honestly some of the worst episodes in the entire DCAU. They still though don't totally nail the character until after BTAS when you get to The New Batman Adventures which is where the writing for Catwoman in the DCAU was at its best.
