It's just like a dreamed as a teen how the continuation of X-Wing series should have continued. Not even nowadays games can make you feel the same I felt when I faced the SSD in a massive space battle. Star Wars Squadrons can kneel and kiss X-Wing Alliance's feet.
You just inspired me and maybe you are actually right and we should focus on continuing the adventure in the X-Wing Alliance, and not on recreating what has already happened... you have to think about it :) ... you are 100% right about Squadrons.
You're god damn right! It's really a shame the X-Wing series was never officially continued or given a proper remake after Alliance. And Squadrons doesn't really count, though it could be seen as a successor to X-Wing vs. Tie-fighter. But passionate modders to the rescue!
@@axelhopfinger533 With today's AI technology making it possible to copy any voice, it is possible to make a fan sequel to ACE's adventures or combine it with a new pilot who grew up and joined the Rebels (New Republic) and plays a role like Maarek Stele in TIE-Fighter. We are creating a completely new adventure, but in a narrative form taken from TIE-Fighter. Interesting, really interesting.
@@xwingfacility Yeah, AI can do great things for indie and amateur devs and will be big soon. Can't wait to see what you guys will come up with, because i already know in advance that it will be vastly superior in every aspect to what Star Wars content Hollywood or the games industry have produced in the past 20 years. Because you guys actually love and respect the source material and are passionate about it!
The one thing squadrons has, and the reason I like watching these videos but will never play XWA, is movement. The flight mechanics in this game just don't have the boost/drift stuff to make dogfights interesting. It's circle fights all the way down. Sims like DCS get away with it because of terrain, physics eventually dragging every fight down to the deck, etc. But I've never seen an XWA map with anywhere near as much interactable terrain as Squadrons or DCS.
Holy sheet!!! The stuff you guys and Angel are doing with this and Tie Fighter Total Conversion is amazing. I love these games and now they have a whole new life.
This is purely amazing, I can't wait to fly with all of these updates. I think the only thing really missing at this point is to get some less-generic radio chatter. I don't know if the missions would allow for it, but making more specific audio cues for all of the mission updates would be a huge upgrade.
Thank you for the kind words. A very interesting idea introducing today's standards. From a technical point of view, what you write about is possible. It requires a lot of work, but it is possible :-).
This is so much *JOY*. I really would love to play this game when I have the chance. May the Force be with you. May the Force guide you through any trouble and guards you well against all evil. 🧔🏻❤️🙏🏻
Okay, you had me the moment I saw that MC-75 drop out of Hyperspace. Still not quite as quick as the movies or shows, but soooooo much better than how they used to just meander into the area. lol
What this project of passion has achieved with such an old game is nothing short of miraculous and exceptional! I could never have imagined that some of the most beloved games of my youth could ever look this fantastic!
Do you know why this happens? Because for 25 years, no one has thought of making a game that would be the successor to X-Wing Alliance and TIE-Fighter. In a such cases, there is a group of madmen trying to make their dreams come true. I don't understand how it is possible that large corporations cannot employ professionals (for this kind Star Wars sims projects) who will create a product with passion, but in the quality of workmanship, and not in marketing words. After all, Star Wars fans are everywhere and apparently they were the ones who made Star Wars Squadrons... but they forgot that saying you're a fan doesn't have to be true. Some mechanics from Squadrons are interesting (the controls and speeds are even well done... maybe I prefer the controls from XWA, but Squadrons works :)) but the plot and the way to improve the plot is embarrassingly weak. Why did they combine the plot of both factions? However, this is one of the worst decisions the corporation has made. They forgot one person in this game...the player. But what can you expect, after all, in the end there is always money, not a person and his passion.... ehh, I live in bad times. Sorry for my english :-)
Great stuff. I really fondly remember X-wing Alliance. It was - next to Freespace 2 - one of the great games of my youth and I always felt a bit sad that there was nothing similar to the FS2 modding community that kept it alive in a similar way. Apparently that sadness is now no longer necessary :)
The last time I played xwa, there was a modded map and file I played on. So the map had 2 hyper points, team 1 was on one region, team 2 was the other, each could hyperspace to the "middle" region. It also allowed us to fly as the capitol ships so we would queue up a bunch of big star destroyers mixed with escorts or the same with rebel fleet and so we would all hyper in or out and a huge battle would ensue. I loved that kind of play even though very few people jump in on it. There really hasn't been a game since that supported that kind of thing. I'm sure its not in your plans for all the work you guys are doing but if ya ever get bored give it a shot!
Thank you. For me, it's an attempt to fulfill dreams that have been limited for years by life responsibilities :) I've been waiting for a game like this and I'm still waiting. Maybe it will happen in my lifetime.
Yes, a good mix of new and old creates virtually endless possibilities. Whether XWAU will combine these two aspects, I'm not sure. I guess that's not the goal of XWAU.
@sjschauer4235 Unlikely that XWAU will incorporate them. Their primary focus has always been on upgrading the game as-is. They've generally left campaign and new ships to other modders
At this point, Lucasfilm Games should just hire you guys and let you make the next X-Wing. A group like you with that much passion and expertise would make an awesome dev-team and after all these years we'd finally see a REAL new Star Wars space simulator. More XWAU stuff will be fine too, tho. :) Cheers to 25 years and thanks for all your efforts 🤘
looks cool . Where do i find this mod . your link is just to XWAU's page and this is obviously a different thing you got hear ? are these just sort of cut scenes your making for RP sake or changes for the XWAU in the future or is this for a totally different game or conversion in the engine ?
Those sounds, the music...why is there no X-Wing game release since '99? Nowadays, Star Wars games are so...not immersive. Back in the days, those games were top notch...before the dark times, before Disney.
Is this currently available, attainable, and playable, in this form with all of these mods, and are there links and tutorials to get it set up exactly like this? I've played every version of X-Wing, including XWAU. I have not seen the patches and mods that will make it look this good. I want to play this. Can you post links to all of the patches needed to get it to look like this including all new ships designs, ray tracing, textures, etc.?
I would like to provide links to the individual files we use. Unfortunately, none of them are available on the Internet. We do all additional things ourselves based on assets from Battlefront and Squadrons. I think you can easily spot it. Sharing such items in their current state online may result in the closure of our project. Certainly, when we finish working on a certain stage, we will post everything and make it available to all fans. We are not ready for this yet. I'm sorry my answer won't meet your expectations, but it's the truth.
Is there a way to disable all the non-instrumentation HUD elements, such as the boxes around targets and the reticle? The targeting computer screen seems to handle it just fine on its own and it would be more immersive for me to not see those floating HUD elements.
