The reenactments are awesome at Lexington. Every child should be taught the names of the eight who died that morning and that are buried under the oldest war memorial in the USA on the Green. Awesome video Katie.

I was a young boy and I might from Medford to Concord passing through Lexington in a five and drum corps leading 2000 Boy Scouts. I returned again in 1985 with the same fife and drum corps. I participated in the entire American bicentennial in barbers New Jersey light infantry the 23rd royal welsh future leaders. Very fond memories. Love this channel. Thank you for everything Peter Ellerman.

Great video! They do not teach kids in school enough about the revolutionary war and how incredible it was that the patriots were able to defeat the worlds super power of that time. Would love to visit this historic place one day.

@@KatieTurnerGettyI have subscribed! My ancestors fought in the revolutionary war and I just started getting into the family history. I inherited a grandfather clock that has been in the family since 1773 down here in North Carolina and it motivates me to do some research. Thanks!

The Minutemen by Gen. John Galvin mentions the "shot" that started the fight on Lexington Green was an accidental discharge by a British officer's pistol. Excellent book covering Lexington/Concord and the retreat to Boston.

2:04 I like how Capt. Parker determined they would not attack unless they were "harmed or insulted" first. You mean like they called them bad names or made disparaging remarks about their mothers? "So Capt. Parker why did you attack superior British forces this morning?" "They made fun of my hat, sir." "Oh, in that case, well done, Captain, well done!"

Assigned to Hanscom AFB in the 90's and am enjoying your collection and the revisits to the sites. I have been to Lexington Green during the annual re-enactment. The things that jumped out to me were... 1. The early morning sun glinting off of the Redcoat bayonets and the obvious lack on the Minuteman side. 2. The tension building over 10 minutes as you could hear the Redcoat drums approaching. 3. The realization that over 50 riders brought out THOUSANDS of militiamen within 100 miles - all able to engage the Redcoats on their return trip to Boston - these were pissed-off people. BTW - thanks for the Boston accent - I don't hear it out here in Colorado and it brings a smile to me

The Hancock-Clark House in Lexington, Massachusetts,50 years ago, the Massachusetts State Society Daughters of the American Revolution created a replica of the room. Mrs. Getty would you visit it and show it on a video if you can?

Work took me to Fall River in 1983 and I made the trip to Lexington, Concord and the Old North Bridge. There was a re-enactor at the bridge in British military uniform standing guard over the gravesite of two slain British soldiers. Pretty remarkable to see. So glad I took the time.

Riveting description of how these fellows stood - like those who stood at Samar - in the certainty of facing .53 cal Brown Bess slugs and cold steel. Because, the follow-up after the first volley had to be the bayoneting of the wounded and the dazed survivors…

My family and I did Battle Road a couple years ago. I'm not ashamed to say I teared up reading the monument there about the fallen and the moving of their graves. Would you be willing to do a videonof that monument and read the inscription for everyone who may not be able to get the chance to see it themselves. It's a beautiful tribute.

Nice work, Katie! I wonder if you could relate some of the personal stories of that impactful day. I'm thinking of whe Paul Revere alerted Sam Adams and that hot-headed John Hancock at the Jonas Parker residence. Also how Revere and John Lowell rescued a certain trunk... What curious coincidence happened when Major Mitchell was interrogating a certain rider earlier that morning? Btw, I love your accent ( I'm in the midwest, so I really enjoy your proper pronounciations)

Been to Lexington Green. I believe that it was only 7 men died on the Green. One, whose name I forget, was able to make his way back to his home and died on the doorstep.

Love your channel. Im happy i found it. Although I'm a 4th generation Californian. My ancestors had strong roots in New England. Involved in much of its early history. So I finally made it out there. Went to the mayflower where I had an ancestor and made to Lexington and concord. Sadly, it was too short of a visit. I hope to go back and spend a couple of weeks in Lexington concord and the general area. My wife is a Saint for put up with me. I love that stuff.

From one history lover to another, excellent work! I've been to the Boston area many times but because I was working I never had the chance to visit any of the Revolutionary War sites. You have given me inspiration to get back there and see them. Thank you for the great work, keep the videos coming!

Another nice job. I would like a slower walk with more detail on the area. You mentioned the death of John Pitcairn. The name sounded familiar, so I had to look him up. Pitcairn Island is named after his son. Pitcairn is the island on which the HMS Bounty mutineers would later settle. Wikipedia has a short paragraph about him in their article on Pitcairn Island (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcairn_Islands).

Like the videos. Please keep making them. I am from Virginia and visited the Boston area, including Lexington and Concord. I have a picture of my six month old son sitting on the Boulder with the marker. I am a big fan of Paul Revere and the alarm riders. Videos about them and the Old North Church would be great. Thanks again.
