Nice to see the battlefield. As I under stand it was considered by many to be the most threatening Jacobite rising of the lot, they took control over most of Scotland, support for jacobitism across Scotland and England was at that time significant. Mar being a poor commander for the job seems to have not seized the initiative and misread the situation and missed the opportunity to take the rebellion South sucessfully. I do wonder about Mar. Really interesting Terry. Just got back from Scotland myself. We weren’t in this part of the country but we did manage to have a look at Ruthven Barracks. We’ve also done Killiecrankie and Culloden previously and Sherifmuir is definitely on the list to visit one day. Thanks for sharing.
