On August 17, 1424, during Hundred Years' War, an English army, led by John of Lancaster, 1st Duke of Bedford, and Thomas Montagu, the Earl of Salisbury, won a crushing victory over France at the Battle of Verneuil, fought near Verneuil in Normandy. It was a bloody battle, described by the English as a second Agincourt.
The battle started with an archery exchange between English longbowmen and Scottish archers, after which a force of 2,000 heavily armored, Milanese mounted knights, mounted a cavalry charge that overcame the English arrows and wooden stakes, penetrated the formation of English men-at-arms and routed one wing of their longbowmen. The Milanese went on to attack the English baggage train, looting the train and leaving the field of battle.
Fighting on foot, the Anglo-Norman and Franco-Scottish men-at-arms clashed in the open field in a savage hand-to-hand melee that went on for about 45 minutes. The English longbowmen reformed and joined the struggle. The French men-at-arms broke in the end and were defeated, with the Scots particularly receiving no quarter from the English.
The Milanese heavy cavalry returned to the field at the end of the battle but then fled after discovering the fate of the French army. Altogether some 6,000 French and allied troops were killed and 200 taken prisoner. The Burgundian chronicler Jean de Wavrin estimated 1,600 English killed.
After Verneuil, the English were able to consolidate their position in Normandy, temporarily securing the conquests of the deceased King Henry V. The victory helped the English to retain control over Northern France for another 3 decades.
This video was produced using the PC game, Mount & Blade Warband, developed by Taleworlds Entertainment, and Total War: Attila, by Creative Assembly, with sound effects from Medieval II Total War. Battle map animations were made in MS paint and Gimp. Gameplay recordings captured with MSI Afterburner.

Our towns and characters name are horrific for english speaking poeple; most do not pronounce the same way they are written . It must be really uncomfortable . I can't resist to the tentation to help you Reims is almost like "rince", Orléan (no s this time) Verneuil like vern and oeil (eye but in french). Your serie, i just discover is really good and objective .

Viscount is pronounced as Vi-count and Salisbury is pronounced as Sausbury. Otherwise a good effort.

This was a battle won by the English heavy infantry …no longbow men where involved as french cavalry had eliminated them early on ….the English charged into the french and Scot’s and eventually turned the tide …Scot’s were totally anilalated all 6000 of them many drowned in the towns moat …..this was a great English victory ….

Curious you took such effort to make this - especially the animation - yet it is so badly researched and your narrator appears to have problems with his pronunciation. Just one example: why didn't your animator take a look as how the English Longbow bends; your depiction was laughable. You also need to avoid inaccuracies in your script. The Milanese did not attack the English front line; the attacked the weakly armoured archers on the flanks. Enough said.
