"A dying leader, led Humanity to the promised land." I wonder if you could argue that Galactica is that leader. They personified the Hell out of that ship and she was the Shepard of both Humanity and it's Fleet.

I believe it was Galactica. The scriptures say that the dying leader in question would be unable to enter the new land - if the definition of “enter” is to enter the planet’s atmosphere and/or land on the ground, then Laura died after having entered it, invalidating her part in the prophecy. Sure, the idea of a grounded Battlestar is possible, and probably done once or twice during the First Cylon War, but without the proper support, it’s highly dangerous and likely to fail - consider Galactica’s extensive damage as it was after the final jump on top of all that, and you’re looking at nigh impossible. That’s my theory, anyways.

@WildCharger There's this theory I read some time ago wich says that the source of the cycle was their technology, wich at some point got corrupted/infected by an unknown entity. It was in the roots of their civilization, like the song, dormant until they advanced high enough to develop sentient AI. At that point it would wake up/activate and make the machine destroy the master. It was like using malware as the OS for your computer, no matter how many antiviruses you use, it's impossible to get rid of a problem buried so deep in the source code. The only way out is to erase the OS completely and start from scratch.

They sure did. After their final jump, Tigh's reeling off the damage report in technical terms and then just trails off into "She's broke her back, she'll never jump again." He's got so much pain in his voice. He doesn't know where they are, they're vulnerable to attack, but he's not scared or worried, he's *grieving*. That line has been stuck in my head for years.

@@WildCharger Laura saw the "new land" where Adama was going to build the cabin but she was dead before they landed. She saw the vision of the serpents numbering 2 and 10, how could Galactica do that or be any leader?? She was a vessel under the command of Bill Adama. The show was an interesting fictional story but the REALLY interesting thing is that the real world events are happening EXACTLY as the King James Bible, namely Jesus Christ said they would! Believe on HIM and what HE did, sacrifice HIMSELF for us so that HIS Blood cleanses us from all sin, put your Faith in HIS Blood and be saved!

One of my favorite story arcs involving one of my favorite BSG characters - Starbuck's dark and deep journey into faith. I think I'm ready to rewatch the whole series again.

I noticed that too. If it was a directing or writing error it’s unfortunately noticeable, though I agree with the existing justifications made before my reply and I’m sure more will probably be found.

I literally just started my rewatch of this for the first time in 10 years, and now I'm getting recomended clips. I really wish Billy never had to leave =( his character was one of the best supporting roles.

Love it. One of the reasons why I love this show so much is because of the lessons of insubordination. Sometimes it's needed and sometimes it is not. Having the wisdom to know when you should go against orders and when not to is what is necessary to be a good and compassionate human being.

Starbuck. What a great role. When she first made that Cylon fighter fly, I thought it was great. That woman "president" turned against Starbuck later and I knew she would. She conned Starbuck and snitched on Commander Adama. Breaking a promise. It was Kara that found their new home. Not the President as she bragged she would.

The first 2 seasons were some of the most intense I've ever seen. Then, suddenly at the start of season 3, it felt like the writers just didn't have any idea what the frig they wanted to do with the show any more. Kind of like what happened to Game Of Thrones.

Old comment, but part of this was the Writers Strike which happened in the middle of Season 4 causing the Season 4 Part 1 and Season 4 Part 2 split.

Before this show came out and they said that Starbuck was going to be played by a woman, I was upset, they're going to ruin another one of my childhood memories. But I was wrong about her, as far as I'm concerned now, the original Starbuck was good, but she is a much better fit and a extremely talented actress.

I never understood that if they were able to interface with the Raider and actually control it, why were they not able to reverse engineer the FTL Drive and install them on the Viper Mark VII? I know the game BSG Deadlock isn't Canon, but Galen Tyrol was able to retrofit a Raptor FTL to the Stealth Viper and that ship is way less complex than the Viper Mark II and Mark VII. And with the compact nature of the Cylon FTL, it would have given Galactica's fighter wings a hell of a lot more reach and more devastating precision attacks against Base Stars. It seems this was necessary only to get the plot going. If it wasn't for that limitation, Vipers could have been used as well to reach deeper into the galaxy to find either an alternate home, find potentially other races, or even have found other Colonial Outposts, which DO exist in the old BSG. Colonies like Terra, Paradine, and the planet where the Satyr Ship was discovered and Count Iblis nearly killed Apollo.

Just because they know how to control it in a raider doesn't mean they know how it works well enough to install it in something else, let alone manufacture more

I would think it's more a lack of time and resources. Recall that they could not build new Vipers until Pegasus joined them, so their manufacturing capacity was somewhat limited. Though the idea of them having FTL capable scout Vipers is neat, and it would definitely represent a tactical advantage for them. Also, if I understand correctly, BSG Deadlock is considered canon. At least, that's what I recall from Spacedock's ship breakdown vids. If that's still the case, then Galen Tyrol's retrofitting would still be a viable plot point. The issue then would be the fact that Deadlock was released well after the show, so anything it introduced needed to be justified, retconed, or explained away for why we did or didn't see it later on.

The first two seasons of BSG were absolutely perfect. Riveting, heartbreaking, exciting. Awesome characters, brilliant plotting, fantastic cast. Then the writers rebooted their own reboot, throwing everything away and replacing it with pretentious, nonsensical drivel. The show rotted away before our eyes and shambled along, a zombie of its former self, until the ridiculous S4 finale. One of the biggest disappointments in sci-fi TV history.

I always hated this supernatural/mystic/theocratic nonsense they kept weaving into the storylines. You’d think a spacefaring people would have outgrown the need to believe in and worship non-existent divine beings.
