Battlestations Pacific Gameplay - Quest to World Of Warships & War Thunder Ships 

Once again the Yamato proves itself! All hail Yamato!

The carrier in question was the Shinano, it was intended originally as a Yamato class Battleship, but the keel was later converted to become an aircraft carrier due to the IJN's deficiency and recent losses in Fleet Carriers at Midway. The carrier was eventually sunk by the USS Archer Fish, and remains to this day the largest tonnage ship sunk in Wartime. The main reason it was sunk was the poor Japanese decision to move it without full escort and less than a week after it had been identified by a US Scout plane. The ship was one of the first IJN carriers to feature an Armoured flight deck and given its armour would have been almost impervious to Divebombers, its arsenal of AA Weaponry coupled with its enormous crew capacity meant that it would have provided a highly effective AA Blanket against incoming US aircraft. Its Torpedo belt would have shrugged off most US Torpedos currently in service at the time, and the advanced damage control systems and redundancy systems meant that it would be almost unsinkable. Unfortunately this also led to its end, it was torpedoed by the USS Archer Fish, believing that the Archer Fish was part of a Wolfpack of US Submarines the Shinano's captain refused to stop and perform repairs, due to the Terrible doctrine of "Unit Carriers" currently in use by the IJN, which meant that the carrier crew trained only as an effective group, meaning all pilots, crew, engineers had to have trained on that carrier, meant that the damage control crew were largely inexperienced and did not know how to use the most basic of Damage control systems that the Shinano had to offer, this meant that the ship took on an enormous amount of water within the hours following the Archer Fish's attack, Eventually in a desperate attempt to save the ship the captain ordered a beaching attempt, which because of the speed the Shinano was travelling resulted in a large volume of water entering the hull and sinking the ship. Overall the main causes of the carriers demise would be the lack of Damage control training due to poor doctrine in use by the IJN, The IJN's attempt to move the ship despite many bulkheads and preventative measures being incomplete, and also the IJN's decision to move the carrier with limited cover and protection led to its Sinking. Just realised that i may have turned a simple comment into a bit of a History lesson, well, ENJOY :D

I'm looking forward to both World of Warships and the ships game mode in War Thunder. I just imagine that both companies will screw it up.

The Shinano was to be a Yamato class Battleship but was turned into an aircraft carrier. It was used in duty and was sunk by a US Submarine when sailing to Okinawa to transport planes I believe. Also, it was 66,000 metric tons and 872 feet long so it was huge!!!

Plus keep in mind you don't have to lead your shot in pacific. Only in battlestation midway you have to. That includes AA fire. Also a ship's magazine can only explode once so when it detonates target the fuel

The Yamato got sunk because it was attacked by about 4 carriers worth of aircraft. Also the Yamato's AAA was sub par to other battleships of the era (which seemed to be a running trend for most Japanese ships). The two Yamato Class Battleships were the Yamato (duh) and the Musashi. The one that was transformed into a carrier (which was actually supposed to carry the B7A2s we have in War Thunder I believe) was called the Shinano.

I don't know about the PC version but there is an expansion (for xbox 360) that allows you to play 2 battleships that were planned but never built. The Super Yamato (has an ungodly amount of range) and the Montana Class BB (not as much range but extremely well armed with 4 turrets with 3 cannons in each) i would recommend looking into it.

Do they have the Shimakaze in this game? Can you wear bunny ears? So a ship at 2 miles out is just out of range for the Yamato? I'm pretty sure the Yamato could fire beyond the horizon...

The BB class that was too large to comply with the Washington treaty and converted into a CV class was Kaga I think.

I personally am pumped for the American cruisers. They are so diverse in application and are so powerful in their specialized role, and culminate in a pair of ships more widely regarded to be Battlecruisers than Cruisers.

the f1m2 is my favorite plane. in sb it is easy to : fly, takeoff, recover and land :D

When you fire your main guns hold your mouse button (Don't release it) and hold shift the camera will follow your shells Phly.

Oh I actually have this game but I have to reinstall it tho. I had a great time playing submarines and ramming boats from below xD

I miss playing Battlestations midway. only played the demo for Pacific. but felt midway was better.

The yamato classs battleship that was changed into a carrier was called the Shinano and yes it was build but later sunk by the submarine USS Archer - Fish in 1944

Can I only play this game by purchasing the retail version? And if so, how does the multiplayer work, I don't hope that it runs or used to run on gamespy

I wonder if we be able to convert some heavy cruiser and battle cruiser and battleships into CV's such like the IJN Mogami class that was built in 1934 but in 1943 had a CV design. I know navyfield has that build in to it's game some of the other ships design of the IJN tec tree another one of a convertible ship type of ww2 is a battleship the class was called ise that also had a cv conversion version of the ship of the but unlike the Mogami class that was a heavy cruiser it was a battleship.But before the ww2 The US converted the older Lexington ww1 battle cruisers into the Lexington cv class the two ship are called Lexington and Saratov.

Yea the problem with the Fuso is the game developers buffed it so much, it is basically OP. Kinda bothers me, but whatever. Also, you should do Fubuki-class battleships vs Fletcher-class battleships.

There are 3 yamato classes there's Yamato - Mushashi & Super Yamato Class

Why does everyone have "hitpoints" in these games... Great Naval Battles did it so much better 20 years ago.

so stupid how the cannons fire at like a 45 degree angle in the air when your like 1.5 mile away, at that range you would point ur cannons right at them, maby 20 mile you would fire high as but there cannons, not mortars.
