@Christopher Simon I have yet to watch a single episode beyond episode 1. I found Thorias after watching that episode and have dedicated my time to watching him instead because his breakdown is much more entertaining than anything they can put together. lol Thank you Thorias, you and Critical Drinker have provided me with the all the entertainment I have not been able to get from the established studios.

The cw have taken a lot of liberties with both batwoman and supergirl to a point that their comic book versions have little similarities. The versions from when they show up in DC animated movies better interprets their characters and motivations.

It would be more sensible that they would lose their memories or find themselves at each other’s throats with no control over themselves, maybe Beth could be ‘inconvenienced’ by the universe as an alien body or some sentient defense force that controls this specific universal rule (a single being of this type in each universe and no more) show up and mean business. Make them either female or non gendered so the Batwoman team can’t simply dismantle them with their girl powers and must choose between the two. Yeah, a universal police force that is completely run and staffed by non gendered super powered beings that descend on Earth 1 and demand that universal law be upheld...or the punishment will be erasure! Dang it, just wrote a better script than they could. I couldn’t write a worse one after a lobotomy, the bar is that low.

@@mcfry13 Nobody watches Dynasty on The CW. The CW keeps renewing Dynasty. The reason: International TV deals and streaming contracts. Same thing here. CW keeps budgets low and sells the show around the world. Ratings don't mean much, and these shows make money.

The "best" villain so far is a girl who tried to murder 450 people cause she's gay. But of course they handwave that off as just what you do, rather than being the biggest criminal batwhoman has faced so far.

Incapable indeed, that would require the writers to admit that their whole show is wrong, and being a band of raging narcissists, that is far beyond them. So I'll be surprised if Kate ever learns, simply because the writers can never learn.

Somehow I think it's intentional, instead of inspiring fans to be more heroic in their own lives, the show seems to give off the message "You'll never be as great as these women," and thus discourage fans from trying. Another side effect of putting characters too high on a pedestal. But since this show isn't meant for the fans, it's not surprising.

The problem isn't that Kate has no flaws. She has TONS of flaws. The problem is that the writers refuse to acknowledge the flaws and just pretend they don't exist. Ref. Kate let's Alice go again, then makes Luke out to be the bad guy for calling the police to come arrest Alice.

In an way, the critics. They aren't even bothering to PRETEND to be objective about anything that services their desired "Narrative." Just like the Ministry of True Lies. Goebbels would be proud.

Yes, you're not far wrong, so little real thought went into setting up her origin and link to Batman and Bruce Wayne in a logical and natural way that the entire premise of the show is faulty from the start... she looks and feels like a Batman parody rather than her own person, her own distinct character, and it comes from the set-up first episodes and seeing her as nothing more than an opportunist who lifts everything Bruce/Batman had, even his costume. Another basic problem is the shooting style is so generic and unimaginative that this series has no identity of its own, it looks and flows like Arrow, and the Nolan films. When the character herself is quite different to that style. Kate Kane is eccentric, se might not see herself as eccentric, but this is an individualist of a Woman who has chosen an alternate identity where she dons a flamboyant costume that includes red wig and lipstick - it is theatre. Kate loves the theatrical. But this series doesn't recognise any of this, this is a series that should be taking its inspiration from the comicbook, with its dynamic and distinctive artstyle and theatricality it helped to define the character and her world. A larger than life character and Kate's obvious love of the theatrical is something this series though tellingly fails to even consider, so generic and unambitious is the style and direction of it all it can't be anything _but_ a bore. But these are just some of the problems I have with it, really I think the fundamental fault lies in the person at the top, the showrunner of any drama series is usually the one with the vision, the passion, they are the ones who push a series to commissioning and push their vision onto the people they work with and the people they employ. And for this series there doesn't seem to be that kind of passionate Showrunner. In fact the person on charge scarcely seems to have any experience of drama production at all... Sadly. I have tried and tried to watch it. I _would_ like to like the series, but it just won't let me. It is diabolically bad quite frankly, and I salute Thorias here for his considerable efforts in breaking it down per episode because there is no way I could do it... not episode by episode. :-(
