Beach fishing for small eyed rays -
In this video I will be fishing from the beach whilst targeting small eyed rays.
This video is ideal for beginners looking to catch rays from the shore.
Here on the Channel island of Jersey, the small eyed rays seem to come higher up the beaches to feed this time of year.
I decided to head down to the beach whilst the conditions were ideal and put some up & over rigs out baited with sandeel in the hope of catching my first small eyed ray of the year.
I was using my new pair of beachcasters during this session the Anyfish Anywhere 6 & Bait Mk2’s which I was hoping to christen with a couple of nice fish.

Thanks for watching buddy it’s much appreciated 👍 It was great fun I really enjoyed it. I thought it was strange that the launch baits fished well as usually it’s the smaller sandeel that catch more fish. il have to go and catch some more launch I think. Thanks again buddy!

Try squid and sandeel wraps down there bud 😉

yeah its a great bait to use that is mate had a few down there on the squid wraps but I find anything other than Sandeel and you start to see the dogfish or bootlace congers which absolutely trash the rigs. Done well on whole squid though when using the boxed stuff! Thanks for checking out the video bud its much appreciated!

yeah it was definitely worth a bash was hopeful to catch one on the first trip but wasn’t too sure if I’d get lucky. next weeks video has a couple of bigger ones from the second trip which was nice to see! Thanks for watching as always bud

@@FISHISLANDTVlooking forward to next weeks installment bud. Pity cameras don’t show the real size of swells. You’d have to get a long camera rod for that shot, or get in :) got wiped out at fort Doyle Alderney when young. It was renowned for it, I knew of it and I got it :) January so bloody freezing too.

yeah it’s strange the cameras never really pick up the swell or do it justice. when I’m on the Kayak sometimes it’s proper pumping with swell but just looks like a bit of chop on the camera.. they don’t have great depth perception
