Tight lines for you next trip out! FISH ISLAND TV 🐟 🏝 📺
Awesome video mate, had my head in my hands when you lost that first one, could tell it was a BIG fish! But that second one was equally really nice, booking my flight to Jersey now! 😄🛫
I live in Paphos. That harbor is supposed to be a preserve. No fishing allowed. I do see people fish occasionally. Police say nothing, because the number one characteristic of Cypriots is indifference.
I was informed that the only place that was out of bounds for fishing was along the promenade between amongst the swimming areas. There’s were lots of people fishing in the harbour area and there was no signage whatsoever. The guys in the local fishing shop informed me that there was no regulation to fish inside the harbour area either. Thanks for watching
Oké that was a great bass on the beach, but the battle with the first fish was absolutely bonkers!! Boy would i have loved to see you land that fish. But you know......our hobby is called fishing and not 😊😊😊 Greetz from Stipo from Holland
Hi there Stipo. It was insane hooking that big fish! I was happy to catch the smaller one after though and it definitely made up for it. Il be back out soon searching for another big fish asap. Thanks again for watching & im glad your enjoying the videos.
yeah I have always thought that myself mate and often wondered how people do so well on them. I guess with the amount of weed in the water sometimes it makes sense to use them but for hook up value I agree it’s can’t or shouldn’t be more than a treble. Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated
Was with you every step of the way playing that big Bass, so unlucky not to have landed it, but kudos to you brother for pushing on and still bagging a decent silver bar, great video dude👍👌💪
Omg what a beast of a fish, I screenshot the slow motion film, it was a monster…. Gutted for ye pal.. Quick question as want to try the fly, Floating line or sinking? Cheers
It was really big wasn’t it ! Il never forget that one that got away 😂 ok so I guess it depends with the line. you have floating, intermediate or sinking.. I mostly use floating but if I was in deeper water I’d go with intermediate mate. with the floating line your fly will still sink. I use a 10ft leader and a 2 ft tippet so if I just left it in deep water static the fly would have the option to slowly sink to 12ft.
Sam I've followed you various fishing adventures over the past year and live the variety of species and methods with which you fish for them. Here is another example. I've not finished watching it but you've just lost the big one and I feel your pain. Especially having it in for as long as you did!! I used to fly fish exclusively for bass years ago but lure fish now. However this is a great reminder to fish different methods and as someone below wrote fish to the conditions. I fished in Brittany a few years ago and having seen the bass in the day time I knew they'd be feeding somewhere at dusk. Essentially they and other species were rounding the the saradine balls up at duak and smashing them into the headland rocks literally at your feet! These were very big fish the shoal id seen though only 12-15 fish were likely high singles. Anyway I hooked a complete monster the biggest I've ever hooked alas instead of turning and running it came to the surface and shock its head ferociously not only for me to see its mass but also to shed the hook right in front of me!!! 😮😮 ill not forget it. Anyway long one great video I'll watch the rest tight lines jon
Hi Jon I’m chuffed you’re enjoying the videos. That sounds very similar to this video and such a shame you didn’t manage to land it. Brittany looks good for the fly fishing and funny enough iv just ordered a new fly line from over there. They fish a lot around oyster beds and mussle poles. That’s somthing il be looking to try here in the near future! Thanks again for watching it’s much appreciated!
There’s some cheap options out there mate that will do the trick via eBay etc etc. I have just ordered another full setup to try for the mullet at some point all in cost a little under £100
Ahh, I feel your pain…. This has inspired me to get the fly rod out again, I have yet to hook a bass on the flyrod. Had some luck with bombarda but not the same though it can get a fly out a long way. I’m thinking I may set up a backpack to hold a rod so I can switch to fly, on the fly, if circumstances dictate. My back won’t let me use a fly rod for long so switching between lure and fly may be the answer. Small lures, including shrimp, are definitely favourite early in the season.
Im definitely thinking of getting my fly rod out and giving it a go after watching that! Just waiting for the water clarity to improve here around the Norfolk Coast. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it!
Is that just a wireless trolling motor you've bought and fitted or adapted a standard motor. Only asking as seen a wirelessly controlled one on ebay for sale . Thanks
Excellent fishing AND catching. Well done. One slight constructive comment is that perhaps a headcam perspective rather than the chestcam would have improved the viewing experience. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tip John it’s much appreciated.. I think you’re correct. I will try a head cam next time to see if it is any better. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video mate.. you handled that big bass loss really well!! I then rewatched some of the bass gilthead video and another big bass got away!! Can totally relate to losing good fish or blanking tbh! 😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it mate …. ohh mate iv lost some many good fish over the years now that I’m just used to it 😂.. thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!
She's a bewty mate. Shame about the one that chucked the hook. Always be a big set come in or something when you're trying to manage a fish on. Thats fishing innit? Enjoyed that video 👍
Amazing Video, nothing beats catching a Bass on the fly. Shame it can be quite restrictive at times. Several times I’ve been out with the fly rod and not been able to reach feeding fish, which I would have been able to with a lure. Having said that I’ve often been out fished by a fly when fishing lures. Love to see more of these vids. Subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub it’s much appreciated! Have you tried using the bombard float before? if not then check it out it’s a great method to cast a fly with a lure rod a long way. Thanks again for watching I’m glad you enjoyed it!
it’s a 9ft 8wt guideline fitted with a lamson legacy reel bud. The fly line is rio bonefish line in 9wt but iv got some new fly line on the way to use. I ordered some Rio floating striper line.
Totally agree, the saying elephants eat peanuts is very apt, cannot beat the presentation and versatility of the fly rod. It's an educated and instinctive angler that uses the correct tool at the right time. 👍
There’s been too many times I’ve watched bass hitting tiny baitfish whilst I’m sat there just watching on with a box of big surface lures and soft baits.
Totally true@@FISHISLANDTV I've had this in North Devon on a few occasions. I've fully as when posting on bass forums generally the consensus is just throw a patch etc they'll have it. Alas they don't. They can become preoccupied on a small food source just like any fish can. Matching the hatch is the phrase. A teaser rig can work though fishing a smaller lure on the surface or just subsurface and then a fly 3ft away. At times literally just cast it out and leave it with no retrieve it can work great.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. I believe it’s the lamson legacy. Not quite sure if there ment to be any good. the guy that was tutoring me a few years ago ordered it for me.
Great fishing,That big bass looked a very nice fish really unlucky mate , hard to beat the fly rod fights , you should try mullet on the fly it’s great sport, I use bread on fly rod it’s very effective method, keep at the fly for bass your in a very good area it looks , Tightlines mate 😎🐟
Nice one mate! I have just ordered a new setup for the mullet a 6wt so that will be something to look forward too! Thanks for watching mate it’s much appreciated!
@@FISHISLANDTV yes that will be great for the mullet,When your throwing up big bass like that on the fly definitely keep at it mate, looking forward to your next uploads tightlines 😎🐟
@@FISHISLANDTV I bet mate cracking fly fishing, Uk Bass Double on the fly be outstanding fishing, with regards to mullet on the fly rod if you know where there feeding on surface, alot of the time it’s the best way to go at them bread wise, there’s material they tie in Spain to look like bread on the surface, when I find it again I,ll send you it, blood worm type flys are what the uk mullet guys seem to do well on I see Best of luck with your fly fishing Lookin forward to seeing your next uploads mate 😎🐟,
Perfect mate il have a look online! iv got a box full of the spectre shrimps and blood worms but I guess you can never have too many. Do you think it’s worth trying for a gilthead on the fly using shrimp patterns ?
Sure thing buddy. so I use the Penn conflict inshore range of lure rods. they arnt too pricey and get the job done. I use the 35g and 45g setups. I also use a savage gear sinning rod which is slightly heavier for if I’m using larger soft plastic lures or wrasse fishing. speak to your local tackle shop buddy I’d say you’d want something between 7-9ft and between 30-50g casting weight. For the reels I use Penn spinfishers or slammers 2500-3000 size loaded with 20-30lbs braid.
Brilliant video again, keep them coming please, could I ask you a question, do I need to register a sib in the IOM, I'm going there on holiday and would like to bring my sib
Hi there buddy I’m not sure if they have any left in stock but if you contact them and ask the guy that runs the company called Craig will be more than happy to help and tie some to your preference. www.cweights.co.uk/
