Just 2 seasons ago in 2021, the following players top 20 backs: Dalvin Cook, Ezekiel Elliott, Melvin Gordon, Alvin Kamara, and Leonard Fournette. These guys have all hit a wall. At some point any season Aaron Jones will hit a wall. Don't think he's a slam dunk next year.

I love what we did at safety w both moves. We got much more physical while also getting more durable. Great leadership as well. All for less money too. Im not as concerned about byards age in this system either. Offensively, we got more explosive w both everette and swift. Cost effective moves at positions of need. Swift brings a recieving element that has been absent on this roster. Everette is the perfect option as a move number two TE. Dump it off and let him rumble. Smart, calculated moves the allows us to have flexibility moving forward. Im guessing we can still look for similar type signings at WR and DL moving forward

Swift has Austin Eckler type upside as a change of pace / 3rd down back. he should get 160 carries and 75 targets. his value is in the passing game, not getting 20+ carries in a game, which he has rarely done in his career.

I think that expecting something amazing from free agency is misguided. You tend to overpay for flawed players. I think it’s smarter to pay for sure things - Sweat, Jaylon, etc and use free agency for what they are doing - shoring up depth and getting some good deals. I’d love for them to get a decent WR though. I’m worried about that position

Darnold and Minshew got deals for significantly less money than the contract that"s projected for Fields to want. If teams knew that he'd sign a deal after this year for $10-15 million per year the market would be way stronger.

@slappyjones2136 4 месяца назад
True. Also they don’t view those guys as QBs who will take them anywhere. They are a true bridge to bring basic stability to their teams while they groom a young QB. Fields is really just that also - but less predictable and costing draft capital.

I don't really understand the Swift signing at 3 years/24+ million dollars. I think a starting caliber Center like Andre James or Aaron Brewer for the same or less money was more important. Hopefully Poles isn't done with the offensive line, and Ryan Bates and Matt Prior are important depth signings. I think Poles needs to sign another starter at DE and OC at least. Also, Byard at 30 years old seems counter to what Poles has been doing with the roster the past couple of years. I expect Poles will trade back in the draft for additional picks, probably from #9.

It depends on what Waldron wants to do, but if the Bears are keeping Fields the Swift signing makes less sense to me. He is better, but marginally compared to what is there. With Fields taking up such a chunk of the rushing game, I'd think the money is better spent elsewhere. They can grab a dynamic back like Bucky Irving in the third or 4th round to pair with Johnson.

Great show as usual guys. I do think that you overate Fields though in order to appease our fanbase. The fact is, he is a rich man’s Darnold, and Darnold costs no draft capital. Minchew is probably better than Fields - he can execute an NFL offense, and again doesn’t cost draft picks. Cousins is a million times better than Fields. It’s not close. I do think it was a massive overpay that they’ll regret. But Fields would have gone to Atlanta and they still would miss the playoffs. Looking back on the season and all the stats … Fields is just not a good QB.

Does anyone know the the percentage is on fans that live in Chicago opposed to fans that live out of Chicago tjat ho to games?
@paulieprinceton4550
@paulieprinceton4550 4 месяца назад
We just sold our season tickets. They were in my family for decades. I think across the board most professional sports fans that attend games in Chicago come from the suburbs. I’ve heard people traveling hours to get to Chicago and spend the day tailgating and enjoying the day at Soldier Field. Maybe the percentages are slightly different from sport to sport, but I don’t know where all these people would live in the city coming to games. I know the city very well and they are not really coming from the south or west sides. The overwhelming majority are white people that attends games, so that eliminates over 60% of Chicagoans right there. There are also millions of more people living in the suburbs than the city. Chicago has about 2.7 million residents but the Chicago metro area has over 9 million people. Now factor in how many people have moved out of the city, especially those with the financial means to pay for tickets. The middle class largely left the city in the 1970’s. Then consider how many transplants that move into the city from neighboring states that live in the south loop, near west side and north side that are not necessarily Bears fans. We were probably some of the few season ticket holders still living in Chicago, but we sold are seats and plan on leaving Chicago. I’ve had family on the south side for over 100 years and we are some of the few left .

Really intriguing situation for the Bears and the QB situation. I've gone back and forth on who we should go with. I believe the Bears can't really lose however they decide to go. At this point I am sitting back, letting Poles cook, and trying the enjoy the ride! Still thinking JF1 could be a great "Taysom Hill" type of option for the Bears if they really cannot get a worthwhile trade for him.
@sophisticatedthoughts...1638
@sophisticatedthoughts...1638 4 месяца назад
Justin Fields is a far better quarterback then taysom Hill that's just totally disrespectful. It's soo funny how every other quarterback and player gets an out for not having the right Talent & coaching around them, but not Justin. How many games has Justin Fields kept the bears in? how many games would Justin field would have won if the defense could hold a damn lead. How many games would Justin have won if the wide receivers could catch the ball at the end of the game. There isn't any controversy the media is basically trying to force Justin out of the city because all the pundits Say Caleb is this "generational Talent," what everyone keeps ignoring is the mccaskey's allowed Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace to draft Justin even though they were on the hot seat. New GM Ryan Poles came into the situation where he knew it was going to be a rebuild how does that help Justin out if you're not planning on putting the pieces and the coaches around him to help develop him. I believe that the President/CEO and the McCaskey family is in full support of keeping Justin maybe Ryan Poles is a little bit more skeptical, but I'll tell you one thing his job is in no way in jeopardy if those that are over his head are in support of keeping Justin fields I need people to make their evaluations make sense. Ryan would not have taken this job if he knew his job would be in Jeopardy simply based off of drafting or not drafting a quarterback if that was the case he should have been fired last year because there's no way on this Earth that Caleb will have a better season than CJ Stroud he is not a better quarterback Caleb may have more talent, but CJ is the new "Afro Brady"

@@garydixon1674 my good friend you literally cannot be talking about Justin anymore when he now is a Pittsburgh Steeler. Those of you who brought out the flaws of Justin got what you guys wanted why keep kicking a dead horse you guys were right, but I would say you need to actually watch some games. Take Justin's rookie year the team that he now is playing currently for the Pittsburgh Steelers I guess people purposely get amnesia when they don't want to take everything into account. You don't remember Justin Fields leading the Bears down the field through a perfect pass to Darnell Mooney in the left hand corner of the end zone a touchdown with like a 1:50 seconds left in the game somehow the Bears still lost the game why because the defense allowed Pittsburgh to drive down the field. That might have been the game where that one player got that penalty for taunting SMH remember that same rookie year the game against the San Francisco 49ers Justin scores that amazing touchdown in Soldier Field to put the Bears up once again I think it was under 2 minutes left Bears lost that game guess it was Justin Fields fault. Remember that Thursday night game against the Washington Commanders once again Justin Fields leads his team on a 4th quarter comeback Drive first and goal how many drop passes did the Bears have 4th and goal throw the balls to Darnell Mooney hits his hand and he drops it perfect pass that would have given the Bears the victory let's blame Justin for that too. This season against the Detroit Lions a team that made it to the NFC Championship Game the Bears defense gave up like 20-something points in 4 minutes did not Justin Fields give them the lead act like you don't remember that game because the second time around he finished Detroit off also at the end of the first game against Detroit perfect past thrown to the rookie number 13 drops the ball that will end the game that's was Justin's fault as well correct? Those are only a few examples of the times where the lack of talent or bad coaching has let Justin down, but I digress Justin's gone and it looks like Caleb will be the new starting quarterback I have no problem with it I'm not a Justin fan I just speak to the reality that no quarterback that has played for the Chicago Bears has been given the right amount of talent to succeed that was my point. What I can say is it finally looks like they are giving the support that this young rookie will need a whole new coaching staff offensive weapons all around him now lie and say that Justin had anything close to the coaching and the roster that Caleb will have if you do you're a liar🐻⬇ My friend!

How come they never make huge splashes for the O line, Darnell Wright notwithstanding? Bates is a backup center and we need a stud at that position because terrible center play was the Achilles heel of the offense last year. Swift is an unnecessary RB signing, and a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere, because our RB core is already good, they just didn't use them enough last year because their run blocking took a step back from how it was the year before. They always put their key resources into the defense, besides having picked up Moore on offense. We need a better O line, period! Unless they released or traded Foreman, whatever his contract situation was, which if they did that's a big mistake because he was definitely their best RB last year. Swift is not better than Foreman, at least not between the tackles. If they wanted to trade or release Herbert depending on whatever his situation is, then I'd be all for it because they should have just dumped Herbert and paid Montgomery anyway, but once this team got Foreman, Johnson, and Evans, we were set at rb. SPEND YOUR MONEY ON O LINE! Chicago is just a city where teams dump their garbage onto us and we accept it freely because we are stupid enough to think we got a great player. If you wanted to upgrade at RB, then you shouldn't have messed around and you should have gone hard after Saquon Barkley.
@slappyjones2136
@slappyjones2136 4 месяца назад
Agree with you on the line - big time. I wonder if they are targeting a tackle w that #9 pick. I disagree a bit on Swift. It’s true that the Bears RBs are bad pass catchers and not super quick. Swift is way more explosive and a great pass catcher which is good for a rookie QB if CW happens. But they really need OL upgrades
