After taking Optimus Prime's spark into his body to foil Megatron's plans of changing history, Optimus Primal's transmetal body is transformed into a more powerful body. Optimal Optimus is born.
for those saying the cgi looks like garbage, this show came out in the 90s, and was like the 2nd CGI animated show ever. and tbh it still holds up to this day, same with the story
@@dasher3532 it’s honestly crazy. The two most famous ships in all of Transformers, The Ark and The Nemesis, weren’t even named until beast wars came along and did it
Interesting to see that the Beast Wars machines aren't hug lumbering hunks of metal they are actually just normal sized animals. They might even be close to human heights.
Yeah, that was thanks to what was called ‘The Great Upgrade’, when the Autobots and Decipticons became the smaller (and more Energon-efficient) Maximals and Predicons respectively
They needed to be smaller to save energy. I believe their animal forms save the most energy but they couldn't stay like that too long or else the animal form would make them go wild so they could be transformed when in their ship which provides them with enough energy to stay transformed for long periods of time
@@OverRule2 The reason for their animal forms is as a shield from the high level of energon radiation on the Planet. The level is so high that it will overload them in a short time, but their beast mode allows them to operate outside their Bases (the only place they are shielded from the radiation). Concerning the animal side taking over, it did start to happen. But Tigertron (who was outside and dealt with that on his own), guided them through it. Rather than rejecting their animal side they had to embrace it, merging the animal side with the machine side, making them more than either alone. Concerning their sizes, in robot form they are larger than humans but not as large as the Autobots were. In beast mode they are the same size as the animal they take the form of. So while Rattrap shrinks considerably to rat size, Rhinox doesn't shrink as much.
Optimus: "Bumblebee? Did you have any weird dreams while we were in stasis?" Bumblebee: "As matter of fact, there was a dream I had about a bot a lot like me personality wise that turned into a cheetah. What about you?" Optimus: "Well... good question, actually, I can't remember all of it."
@@ImperialAlex the maximals and predacons are from the future and they're factions descended from the autobots and decepticons The events of beast wars all take place on prehistoric earth, millions of years before the g1 cartoon, but they're from millions of years AFTER Beast Machines is the sequel to Beast Wars and takes place directly after they travel back to the future
For those who don't understand what's going on - Beast Wars takes place in Earth's prehistoric past sometime after the dinosaurs go extinct but before modern man. The Ark with the G1 Autobots crashed on Earth sometime way before that (possibly killing the dinosaurs) and all of the G1 Transformers are in stasis lock which is where they'll remain until the original show started in 1984. Beast Wars' Megatron causes a paradox by killing/almost killing Optimus Prime in the past - which would prevent G1 Prime and friends from defeating Megatron in G1 - which would change the future where G1 Megatron left a hidden message for any loyal Decepticons to go back in time and change the outcome of the war on the Golden Disk - which Beast Wars Megatron found/stole at the beginning of the show.
Why was Optimus Prime in truck form? Didn’t they take those forms in the 80’s? Was this just so we’d recognize Optimus Prime? Or was their a canon reason? Genuinely curious cause I never got to watch a lot of these episodes when I was a kid.
@@capndayafterday If you go back and watch the 1st few minutes of G1Ep1 - Optimus pretty much looks the same in robot mode as he did before/after he got his truck mode.
Also, one more thing to point out from the series, after G1 ended - both Autobots and Decepticons upgraded to maximals and predacons in this continuity. They gave up their larger/stronger bodies and gained efficiency and longevity. So, since every living transformer is effected by the end of the war - it would cause issues for transformers everywhere. The only exception is Tarantulus - who didn't descend from autobot or decepticon. All we're really told about Tarantulus (Tripredacus Council) is that they don't want either side to win the beast wars.
@@Geminias just watched it on YT. I forgot they had their forms originally. Looks like the satellite just found the best form for them to transform into. I vaguely remember when was Orion Pax. Had to look that up. I guess I got that episode and the first episode confused. Thanks for the info.
It can't be understated just how weird it was to see how much smaller the Beast Wars cast was compared to the G1 cast. Like it makes sense I guess, but it really did throw me through a loop the first time watching it.
It does leave enough room for character development. Guess kind of like a “quality over quantity” thing while working with how limited CGI was at the time.
to be fair, you could justify it as "his spark is already joining the matrix" so they were starting to merge, when he emptied it, and they repaired prime thus saving him, and his spark returned to his body at least that's what I think
Me as a kid, with no knowledge of Transformers, watching this: that's a weird robot. Me now, watching this scene, knowing more about the Transformers: oh shit, that's cool.
@@myspanishcountryhome that's actually pretty awesome. Say, perhaps you could talk a bit about your time working on Beast Wars, at least without breaking NDAs? Though, I would assume any NDAs have been lifted with time.
@@myspanishcountryhome i kinda wanna know how different the process was compared to like today? Anything strides that were made after the show ended that you wished you could utilized had it been made beforehand?
Anyone ever notice that when Primal holds the matrix it shines really brightly and then when he lets go it diminished in light? The matrix only lights up like that when someone who is worthy of it is holding it. Of course Optimus Primal is worthy to bear the Matrix.
I remember seeing this when it first aired. It was so jaw-dropping to witness that crossover between G1 and Beast Wars. No Internet outlets to ruin it with spoilers, just raw astonishment.
As a kid, I remember my mind being blown when it was shown how small the Maximals and Predacons were compared to the Autobots. Then Primal gets Prime's spark and my head exploded.
@@santus07 I’ve heard it’s because the maximals were supposed to be “upgraded” versions of GI hence there smaller and need WAY less energon to survive.
@@beartheconfused6798 yeah, that's a good point, technology is always getting smaller and with more capacity , so if this follows the same principles Maximals are more advanced or have more tech
Thats crazy when people say the CGI was bad. I was 6 years old when this first aired and my goodness I didn't think any type of graphics or animation could surpass this show. This to me was the most technological advance show at the time and its sad that in shows and games everyone just talks about graphics and frames per second. Like bro, just enjoy the damn material presented for you.
@@AdrianGarcia-ww1ik actually the reason why they do that is dont want make all maximal dissapeared. So if optimus prime wake up now when he supposed to wake at 4 million in the future. That will the time broken and change everything that will happen in Transformers g1
No the pilot episode g1 starts 4 million years before 1986 and the Autobots and decepticons crash on Earth and they wake up for 4 million years later during that 4 million year Beast wars happened sometime in there
@@stephen19590 Those robots that discovered and entered the Ark in Beast Wars are called the Maximals they are the descendents of the Autobots, and the Autobots are the Ancient ancestors of the Maximals. The Autobots had crash landed on Earth many years before the Maximals and Predacons arrived, the Predacons are the descendents of the Decepticons, and the Decepticons are the ancient ancestors of the Predacons. The Autobots and Decepticons are frozen in "Emergency Stasis Lock" (or just "Emergency Stasis"), Predacon Megatron tried to kill Optimus Prime I'm Stasis Lock so that the Decepticons would win the Great War (the Great War is in Transformers: The Movie 1986). Optimus Primal (the descendent of Optimus Prime) took his Matrix Of Leadership until Optimus Prime was repaired, because Predacon Megatron unleashed a full powered blast into Optimus Prime's face, which near fatally injured Optimus prime, and caused a timestorm. And because of Optimus Prime's near fatal injury the Maximals were beginning to disappear because of Optimus Prime's nearly dying from the injury and the timestorm. So Optimus Primal took the Matrix of Leadership which turned Optimus Primal into Optimal Optimus which was a mix between Optimus Primal's spark and the Matrix of Leadership which was inside Optimus Prime. Later Optimus Prime's injuries were repaired and the Matrix of Leadership was returned to Optimus Prime which caused him to power on and then shutdown back into normal Stasis, and time was restored back to normal as it should. The Autobots and Decepticons will awaken in 4 million years, the approximate year they will awaken will be year 1984. Hope this helps.
Notice in the Beast Wars “Optimal Situation” Rhinox refers to two separate entities as the Matrix: “His spark is already joining the Matrix.” - The dimensional realm. “His spark has the Matrix with it.” - The leadership object Autobot leaders carry in their chest.
@@drenx87 Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are still kicking and David Kaye most recently appeared in the Eternals as Arishem The Judge. Gary Chalke though, I don't know what he's been doing.
Optimus waking up billions years later: Bumblebee, i have a waird dream during the time i was asleep where a smaller android took the matrix of leadership
Man I remember watching this episode as a kid and thought it was so cool to see G1 Optimus lol, I was hoping that he would have been revived and helped them out in some way. I was so sad when G1 Optimus had shutdown and went back to sleep :( lol
Optimus Primal temporary puts his ancestor/namesake, Optimus Prime's spark into his own body while Optimus Prime is being repaired and gained a new larger, more powerful and more advanced body. Megaton did the same thing in "Master Blaster" putting his ancestor/namesake, the original Megatron's spark into his own body and also gained a more powerful body and have his Beast Mode evolved from a T-Rex to a dragon that breathes both fire and ice.
Difference is, we're never actually shown G1 Megatron's Spark being returned; though the scene of it actually happening was cut, it would have been returned at the last minute, just before the departure from Earth back to Cybertron aboard the Autobot shuttle.
I use to tune in on this show Sunday mornings right before heading out to work. When I saw this episode the show went from good to great instantly. The third season was great, especially for an original G1 cartoon fan.
@@perfectsplit5515 Megatron could be seen as a 20th century despot. (There are a few, but I'll leave that up to others imagination. I do personally question the comparison to Alexander the Great however.
This is the second season. All the designs are worst than the first one. All of a sudden they are shiny and metallic looks. I hate it when the second season starts
I remeber seeing this for the first time when it aired...😱🤯 . It was mind blowing to say the least because you never saw it coming. Still to this day it gives me that "wow" moment. So awesome. And that's just prime.
Optimus Primal temporary puts his ancestor, Optimus Prime's spark, which it contains "The Matrix of Leadership" inside while Optimus Prime is being fixed and Optimus Primal got a bigger, more powerful and more advanced body because of his ancestor's powerful spark. In a few episodes later, Megatron did the same thing of putting the spark of his ancestor, the original Megatron into own body and it evolved his beast mode from a T-Rex to a more powerful dragon that breathes both fire and ice.
Sms Syed in the future cyber forms alongside cybertron become organic alongside metal because it’s more energon efficient so they switch from vehicles to animals
@@raptorman6055 makes sense now...i was a kid when this used to come on tv...so i thought this was the old incarnation during the dinosaurs era so the transformed into such ... Kinda didn't remember much lol
You could say that the megatron in the original RID was the direct result of BW Megatron's fusion with G1 Megatron leading to a alternate reality with predacons instead of Decepticons. But that's takara
The Maximals who are from the future, traveled into the past in which the original Transformers whoc crashed into Earth long ago, were all still in comatose state, in which The events of the original Transformers series haven't begun, because humans in Beast Wars are still at their infancy. When they reach the 80s thats when Optimus Prime and the others will be awaken.
Well to be honest, even back then i prefferred the art style of the original Transformer series and movies, which is why i never really got into Beast Wars back then as a kid. There was a time when CGI simply wasnt that great to watch. I also remember in TV-Shows like Herkules (with Kevin Sorbo) or Sindbad, when practical models started to get replaced with CGI, and the CGI was just way worse. Nowadays its a different story of course.
@@Daniel-rd6st To me the original always just looked bad even before Beast Wars came out. In my eyes almost every series was an improvement over the original in the animation and visual department.
This was the age of shows like Reboot and The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, where the CG was just getting started in TV shows and Toy Story wasn't a thing yet.
My two favorite lines come from this episode When Megatron taunts Primal about fighting in the Ark and causing a temporal issue: "We'd have four million years to scrape you from the wall. I *might* risk it" And when Cheetor says to Rattrap how Optimus adapts quick to the new body "Whaddaya want, he changes them often enough" (Some paraphrasing from memory)
The way these old 3D cgi render make them really unsettling regardless of their intended atmosphere. The early Starcraft cinematics, Quake 2, and then THIS SCENE. Let's be honest, even though this isn't horror, seeing all the inactive transformers in this dark room was still creepy AF
I never got Optimal’s “not in here, take it outside!” Dude…did you forget they are your enemy They don’t care if you die in or outside and neither should you Even with time being a factor
He was referring to the fact that fighting inside the Ark would alter history. A stray shot could take out any one of the slumbering Autobots and/or Decepticons, with Optimus Prime’s current condition being the cherry on top.
@@mysticdragonwolf89 Remember, optimus in many continuities was considered a librarian. He's very focused on preservation of history so doing anything that would damage the Ark goes against his ideas of preservation.
Fighting and causing damage inside the Ark could have unforeseen catastrophic consequences. If there were to be a fight for any reason it’s safer to go outside.
@@APlatypus Perhaps, but remember that Primal is also carrying Prime's Spark at the moment too, and there are signs that it's influencing his personality while he's carrying it. He's not interested in destroying Megatron, he just wants to get any potential fighting away from the very sensitive historical subjects, any damage to which could destabilize history. "You wouldn't dare fire in here! It might upset history." "We'd have four million years to *clean you off the walls, Megatron.* I might risk it." A bluff from Optimus, most likely, but a tad chilling nonetheless.
I seriously wonder what Prime thought of this brief moment when he finally woke up from stasis completely. Did he wave it off as a weird dream? Did he assume it was some error in his memory? I like to think Prime didn’t know what was happening, but knows whoever it was just saved him, and he’d be grateful that the stranger helped, whatever it was the stranger did.
I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me quickly. The CGI might be dated, but it is what it is. Redoing it, would be like redoing Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer because the claymation looked dated. Best to leave it the way it is.
richard bidinger while I understand what you’re saying the claymation is more dated in a charming way whereas this is honestly more dated in an ugly way. It’s like the difference between pixel graphics and Final fantasy 7 graphics. Pixels are charming, FF7’s gameplay graphics are just kinda hard to look at. (For me at least)
To the Zoomers complaining about the CGI. I also thought it was crap when it originally aired, but we accepted it and still enjoyed the story and characters because they were brilliant.
Earlier in the episode, Megatron comments how inefficient Gen 1 transformers were as Energon Hogs. That their size was because they couldn’t process Energon efficiently and were bigger for it. This mimics older car sizes and crap fuel efficiency. It’s why the Maximals and Predacons are smaller than their Gen 1 ancestors.
@@audiovisualcringe I actually remember an episode where they had to stay in their animal forms because of that and they started turning feral because they were in those forms for too long.
