one legendary hip hop group paying tribute to another, with the help of the legendary human beatbox Doug E. Fresh. that's real hip hop. FUCK the new shit. ol' skool all the way.
Their voices sound perfect! Sounds like a full-on studio recording. A lot of rap artists can't perform live and just scream off pitch and out of key, but these guys are fully on the perfect pitches!
I was terry eyed when I watched this live my brother and I grew up on hip hop since 78. He died from health conditions in 98 and all I could think was us two reciting RUN DMC lines. I miss my brother.
The Dj was Killin it!!! He cut in (mix master) from utfo mix master ice!! He also cut in that lady that goes (ahhhh! @ :23 ) never knew where that sample came from but I remember Jam Master Jay used it in their song once or twice. It may be from Love to Love you Baby by Donna Summer) either way That dj was goin crazy in this performance! Great job to Beasties too of course!
Awesome tribute to the crew that "Can never be beat". Run Dmc , as far as I'm concerned still kicks ass. The original Gangstas that set a trend. None better. At the age of 54, I still crank it up...
Omg they killed it it!!!! I have to watch this a few times! I was blessed enough to see Run DMC in concert with the Beastie Boys in the 80s when i was very young! !
Dude I'll never forget the first time I witnessed the Beasties. IM 46 yrs old and saw them in the movie Crush Groove. They were like 15 years old or something. Run DMC were in it. Fat boys, Curtis Blow. Icons. Been riding with them since.
My fave! Best ever! These dudes started off funny and look at them. I always wanted to be the Mike D parts of the songs. Dougie came and killed it at the end. Love it! Nothing like it these days.
That album, wow, the best. As a rocker, rock music took a dive in the 80's, which left a vacuum. Hip hop filled that better than anything. Once i heard rock box, bought the album and become hooked on rhymes. Learned all the words and still know them today as i rapped along with the Beasties. RunDMC brought this new cool sound to the masses. No doubt about that, it was their work that pushed through barriers with ease. They're just simply that good. Just the best time when this all first came out. And always loved the merging of rap and rock. They seem to naturally flow together.
So dope. The saddest thing is, these guys are the kings of the triple threat MC style, and it is so integral to their delivery, they can never perform again because one of the elements is gone. RIP MCA.
Beastie Boyzzzzz dope hip hoppers! U cannot claim 2 be a true hip hopper and NOT know every lyric of this song!! I straight got goose bumps when they had DMC growling as DMCs verse came thru....then when Doug E Fresh started beatboxing I'm like oh so so legendary!!!
Russel Simmons is like damn those boys for Movin to southern Cali. Best move they ever made. Only thing that would have been epic is if they walked over to him and said Got fat bass lines Like Russell Simmons steals money
yo this goes out to my Homie JMJ I Miss you man N.Y Misses you man I don't know you on a Personal Level but you sir are a Pioneer you changed my Life and I am thankfull

"you gotta let em know you'll never stop".... and they didn't. MISSING those we no longer see on earth but know they are jamming in the next world. you know who they are, we'll be up in a while...
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS ...I GIVE YOU THE BIRTH OF HIP HOP. NEW YORK CITY. NO BODY CAN CLAM THAT. .......NO BODY. NO SOUTH . NO WEST , NO NORTH .....BUT EAST . IF YOU DONT KNOW THAT ...NOW YOU KNOW. BABY!!!
