First time we're both using Beastmen and Dwarfs in the Old World bit of a learning curve for me I should have marched to get there fast and possibly used some other faster moving units but hey fun list either way. Got a few plans for the reports this month which hopefully should see the new mats arrive (the ons that did came damaged so they are getting replaced). And also the studio is getting an upgrade so things aren't so cluttered for us :)!
I suggest would you write the whole rule of the magic item to your list instead of short version. This problem comes up in this game with the true beast since its useless against dwarves and wont lower their ws. "Enemy models whose troop type is monster suffer a -1 modifier to their Weapon Skill characteristic whilst within 6" of the bearer of the Rune of the True Beast."
After watching so many games, armies with large units just seem to make other armies redundant as simple 1 hit kills an entire rank and usually attack first. Just seems unbalanced honestly, watching chaos/ beastmen just be op currently
Notice that the Cygor catapult needs to rol 4+ to hit everything that is not directly under the template. In that position is 2 full cover miniatures (only 1 of them strenght 8) and 14 hits at 4+. Those ones will be S4 -1ap
It's a weird one.great report guys loved it but there are three rules I see people struggle with and they're three of the most talked about rules early doors. Templates need to roll to hit the guys under them, wizards have to be able to see what they're casting at,you can't cast into combat unless specifically said Its amazing how many people get the weird charge and following rules spot on but not them.
Remember to place a marker where you want the cannonball to land, then roll the arty dice and move it forward to where it actually lands, then obviously roll it again to see how far and how many models it bounces through.
Fun to see all the Warhammer 3 players getting into tabletop with Old World. You’ll end up knowing the rules faster than you think. It’s really easy after a handful of games.
Investing 50 minutes to watch this battle report, and not getting to see the cannon, irondrakes and thunderers take their last shots at those bulls was such a disappointment.
Still having the king overrun that Minotaur unit was cool. I was imagining him literally running after them and felling them one by one to avenge his brethren
You need to re-read the template rules - unlike in 8th not every model a template touches is hit, unless it’s fully covered (or under the central hole) a model is only hit on a 4+
On the first break test with the Minotaurs vs the dwarf warriors. When the dwarves flee they flee 2d6 -1. Not 2d6 pick the highest d6 then minus one. Also When the Minotaurs pursue due to blood greed they only pursue 1d6, not 2d6. The dwarves would have likely got away unless you rolled a 6 on a single d6 on the Minotaurs pursuit roll. Flee is 2d6. Pursuit generally is 2d6 as well unless you got some type of special rule that states otherwise.
Awesome battle report! Love seeing the dwarfs in action! Just remember that with templates models that are partially under them only get hit on a 4+ now
Why would you give the Gor's Shields, if you put the Wargor in there with Totem of Rust removing their AS? Mino's also do not have Frenzy unless you pass the Primal Fury check with doubles, you cast frenzy on them or you take the Frenzy Sword on the Gorebull/Doombull.
Great batrep. I don't know if that has changed but you used to have to declare whether you were pursuing a fleeing target before they roll the dice, you couldn't wait to see what they got. Doubt it would have mattered either way here but just a rules fyi/question. Thanks!
Tell me about those battlefield tiles! How'd you make them? Great video idea? Also the engineer for the dwarf allows one unit to reroll all 1s, not all units
For DWARVES you can try crossbowmen or rangers with crossbow with a runesmith so you can go with armor bane 4. Plus a bit of protection against magic. Catapults will be more usefull for me, and engineers in this version are a bit useless.
The Ghorgon has Frenzy, it can't restrain. No need to test fear when the Mino's charge if the dwarf units are bigger unit strength. Also curious why you're only doing a single Gaze of the Gods roll instead of two?
If you’re going to tool up one list at least make sure the other list is moderately well written… one sided matches don’t make for much of a watch and I’m sure it wasn’t very much fun for your opponent either… I’m rooting for your channel tho.
Idk if you guys are just house ruling it since youve done it every report so far, but any model under the template for a stone thrower except the direct hit needs to roll a 4+ to see if its actually been hit or not.
if a model is fully covered by the template you are hit. The partials are 4+. Typically that is 4 models automatically hit then 12 partials (4+) on a 25mm base 5 x 5.
VS Beastmen, and really vs every army, Gyrocopters are really essential to manipulating enemy charges and dictating the flow of battle. I'd say 1 minimum per army, but 2 is ideal at 2K
So. Many. Mistakes. Not just rules wise but tactically too. Template weapons roll a 4+ to hit if they don't fully cover the entire base. Cannons have to bounce. No wizards or runesmiths? Very risky if your opponent brings a level 4. Thunderers shooting at a T6 cygor rather than the much squishier T4 minotaurs? Zero maneuvering from the dwarfs? Just allowing the entire melee beastmen line to roll up and crash fully along the entire dwarven line? That is really, really bad play. Kinda lost interest thereafter.
Yeah not gonna lie, I can stomach a lot of rule mistakes for early batrep, but dwarfs just standing there on a straight line unable to support one another and awaiting their doom was rather uninteresting. Just skipped through it for the expected result.
Hey I absolutely love what your doing, and I wanna support you. It's just your set up is hard for me to watch. I know you'll get it down and I'll leave a like and comment to support you.
