Love seeing Peaches in the videos! My WIPS are completely out of control. I was shopping my stash this afternoon and was astounded by the WIPS I found. The ones that I didn't even know what they were frogged and set aside to be washed to be rewound. The ones I was no longer interested in (either pattern or yarn) were set aside for frogging. The VERY few I had any remaining interest were brought forward to first place on my desk. We shall see what their fate may be after they sit there for a bit.

I really enjoy your videos. I too am recently retired and I am fully immersed in my fibre arts - knitting, spinning, weaving, sewing, etc…. I have a fair stash and lots of projects on the go. Watching you always reminds me to slow down and enjoy the process of crafting. It’s not a race!

Oh Lisa, your Geogradient will become magnificent. I did not start, as i try to practise moderation in starting projects. But your version and creative decisions really are very beautiful, enriching the initial design very much. If ever i do a geogradient, ill be inspired from you...before that i would before want to finish my twist & turns...speaking of languishing wips...😊 A propos of spouses...my husband started knitting two years ago, wanted a productive hobby too, and he does wonderful stuff and we have a routine of outdoor knitting, taking a project and some seats or blanket, go to river or park with the bicycle and sit and knit.

Hi Lisa! Love your sharing your WIPs! I have so many (knitting alone, there are 32…) that I had to put them in a tub in the attic so that I could focus on one or two at a time. When I finish one, I go through the tub and pull out another. I’ve gathered so many going to fiber festivals in the years leading up to Covid, as I am sure you can relate! So now, I can simply shop my stash when I need a new project to work on! Your projects are all lovely, have fun working through them!

I’m definitely not a one project at a time person but I do try to keep my wips down. Something I try to do is keep about four within easy reach that I really want to finish. This gives me a bit of variety but I’m not overwhelmed. The others I would put out of the way so I don’t see them. When I finish a wip or two I would add new ones. On another note your voice is absolutely lovely and I think you should add singing as a regular part of your videos. It really goes with your RU-vid name Soulful.🥰

I use to be a relatively monogamous knitter/ crafter, but now I have a plethora of unfinished items across several different kinds of I crafts. I think I lost more control after I retired! Go figure. Dear Lisa, you're awesome and brave! Loved seeing all your wips, but I have to say that it's not that different from my own creative process. You're a multicraftual like me! There just aren't that many hours in the day for everything I want to do! And I'm temperamental, so different projects suit my different moods and making desires. Thank you for normalizing different creative processes like ours. I have a feeling not every one cr

Sweet Lisa, thank you for sharing. Your podcast is my favorite. If anyone was ever a process crafter, that’s you😊! More about the journey and less about the destination. But good idea to finish your beautiful scarf and Arboreal sweater. I’m a process crafter too and like having different projects started. I worry less about the destination as I get older. Your MKAL shawl is a beauty too. Did you ever consider spinning your washed fleece in a salad spinner? I do this sometimes and wonder if you think this is not a good idea. Enjoy your week and family.

I really wish I was the kind of person who only bought enough for the current project and had no wips. Lol. I’m making peace with the fact that will never be me. I have a Jarod Flood wrap on the needles, a partially warped rigid heddle loom, 2 sock projects in various states of completion and we won’t talk about the number of filled spindles that are hanging out around my house. I can so relate as I have projects galore in progress. All my spinning so far has been with hand spindles but I'm craving a wheel and loom now. All this started with wanting to spin wool for socks to knit. See what knitting and crocheting can lead to! What an inspiring vlog! Beautiful colors and the loom piece is gorgeous. The geogradient project is stunning and the arboreal sweater has techniques I haven't done before. Would love to try that. Your voice is beautiful and the song brought tears to my eyes as life while I'm caretaking my mom seems to be flying by. Taking up spinning during this time has been a blessing. Thank you for your wonderful content.

Yes, knitting and crochet are the gateways to all kinds of mischief! I remembering declaring at the kitchen table that I “had no interest in spinning” and the again with weaving. Hi Lisa, I have many wipes too, including several crochet. When I sample my fibre to see how it spins up I store that with the fibre and call it stash not a wip. I finished clue 3 just before 4 came out and then stopped. I’m going to work on other projects including Christmas gifts and a Stonecrop cardigan by Andrea Mowry. I’ll pick up my Geogradient shawl again for winter( I’m in Australia). Yours is looking beautiful. Love seeing what you are working on.

Hi Lisa! thanks for sharing your wips with us. That is a LOT of projects going at once! I am amazed you get anything done. I usually have only 1 knitting project going at a time, but right now I have a blanket, a sweater, and a pair of socks. As for spinning... well, I have a lot of wips in that regard and let's not mention the fleeces that are halfway sorted/scoured/carded/combed... lol I cannot handle a huge number of wips as I get so overwhelmed I cannot do anything. So, sometimes I need to sit down and work on one wip until it is done, then pick the next one and work on that until it is done.... not easy when there are things I want to start, but I try to finish stuff eventually. your scarf is amazing and gorgeous! love the colors

This podcast was a really good one that I can completely relate to. I have many WIPs in knitting, spinning, crocheting, and even fleeces that need to be processed…. At this time I am a monogamous knitter trying to focus on finishing one thing at a time regardless if it’s a new project or a WIP that I want to finish. And stash? We just don’t have to go there…. 😂 Love the song you sang at the end. Joni Mitchell’s music speaks to my soul….❤

I have stash and a lot of it! I am also a multicrafter so it doesn’t help but since I have very limited space I tend to only have a WIP or two otherwise my family could not live properly in the house 😅 I would also lose too much interest in the projects if they are lingering for too long. I tend to leave aside projects I am working on for myself those for others are done better and quicker

Another enjoyable video. Always lovely to hang out with you. I do not have huge amounts of wips, but I do have more than one project on the go at any one time. I usually have one or two knitting projects, at least one weaving project, one or two sewing projects and one or two spinning projects (one on my wheel and one on my drop spindle, now that I see all that typed, I guess I have more on the go than I actually thought lol. I do try to start and finish one project at a time. For example I spent an entire week when on annual leave to start and complete a small waldorf doll, including clothes. With my knitting, if I start a pair of socks, I tend to work on them most to get them finished as they are a very easy project to do without thinking much, then go back to the bigger project I would more likely leave for a bit. So it is kinda one project at a time in one sense with projects on the go in between. My English paper piecing quilt is not a project I can work on solidly to get finished. It is such a big project it has to be done over time. It is also not something I consider to be thought of as a "fast" project, that is definitely a slow mindful task. That project has taken me a year so far already and will likely take me a further couple of years because I plan to hand quilt it too. It has been a few weeks since I have actually worked on it due to doing a small university course and having study to do :( yuck, work gets in the way of my crafting time lol T x

I really enjoy your videos ... and as far as WIPS go mine are all over the place and I can't seem to help myself but start something new :D --- When I was in my late teens you shopped for a project bought those materials and finished it before moving on to the next project. There are times that I tell myself I want to return to that practice but I don't think it is a realistic goal 🤣 --- I was interested in knowing what your thoughts are on the knitters loom. There are so many options out there for looms, I was wondering what the difference was in that loom say over a rigid heddle loom. I am thinking about just going back to basics (from childhood days) and making a simple cardboard loom and make some small squares and go from there. Who knows when the thought processes will actually transform into a physical act but part of the fun I feel is in the contemplation.

Like you I have too many projects on the go I have 5 quilts I have to finish by the end of November all tops finished just need. To machine quilt them spinning don’t ask three alpaca fleeces to wash waiting for the warmer weather for that. And each wheel and most of my bobbins have something on them and we won’t talk about the embroidery or the rest of the knitting too much to even look at. I have quite a few shawl’s on the needles only find since I retired I no longer wear them.I find cowls off more use. I have a cardigan I started then I lost 20 kg so now decision is do I keep going or pull it out and start it smaller, some of my hand spun vests are now too big but love what I made and pulling out and remaking is not going to be the same. At least we. Have summer here to go. Through and if I leave the weight off I will definitely have. To make something smaller.oh well can’t get bored.

I don’t use my knitted shawls as much either since I retired! Do you machine quilt or send them out? I hope you have a lovely summer. It is snowing lightly today here and got quite cold last night. What is the brand andstyle of the shuttle boat you used in your video ?
@SoulfulSpinning
@SoulfulSpinning 8 месяцев назад
It’s an Ashford Boat Shuttles - 29cm (11.5"). I think I picked mine up from paradise fibers but they are widely available. Kelly Casanova recommended that particular shuttle as it has a low profile to fit in the shed. I did late purchase the bobbin winder to go with it. Not absolutely necessary but I enjoy the weaving a lot more now.
