Yes Sigourney Weaver was in avitar but is best known for her role as Ellen Ripley in Alien and Aliens. Have you seen those? They are incredible and perfect for spooky Halloween season. She was nominated for an oscar for those. She is great in this. They had to pay a lot of money to get her in this.

This was a huge hit in 1984. Ghost Busters merch everywhere. Loved the special effects.

There's something particularly oddly enjoyable about the part where Vinz Clortho was chasing Louis Tully. Vinz had such an "oldschool" pre-CGi animation look to him that I strangely love.

Fun Ghostbusters movie trivia fact - Pop singer Debbie Gibson has a cameo as the birthday girl in the restaurant when Louis is trying to get into, when the ghost terror dog is chasing him.

One of my favorite funny moments in this movie: Egon: Well, let’s say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. According to this morning’s sample, it would be a Twinkie…35 feet long weighing *approximately* 600 pounds. Ray coughs in surprise- Winston: That's a *BIG* Twinkie 😅😂🤣

If you seen Ghostbusters Afterlife, inside the Ecto 1 car glove compartment box, there is a wrapped Twinkie in there when Podcast is looking for registration papers when the kids all get pulled over....nice little callback to GB1 reference there 😉✌️

Fun fact: the bookshelf in the library wasn’t supposed to fall over. When it did and the actors all jumped out of the way Bill Murray adlibbed his line “this ever happen to you before?”, and the actor playing Ray didn’t know what to say so he just shook his head. Then Bill/Peter asks “Oh, first time?” And Dan/Ray nods. The director loved the scene and included it.

Fun fact: There was already a (bad) kids show called The Ghost Busters when they were filming it. They didn't get the rights to the name until just before it came out. They even filmed the crowd on the street chanting "Ghostbusters" with the name it almost had, Ghostbreakers.

Alien and Ghostbusters sure shot Sigourney Weaver's career off like a rocket. They saw the creature after Lewis at the restaurant but they weren't phased by it. That was the movie's way of saying so many weird things happen in NYC that they just ignore it. 😂

It was more along the lines that the restaurant was “Tavern on the Green” which back then was a very rich, snobby, elitist restaurant, the joke here actually was that the restaurant patrons *SAW* Louis in obvious distress, they just didn’t care because he was one of ‘the poor people’ and ‘below’ them in socioeconomic class… It was a comment on the rich assholes being so self centered and snobby that they wouldn’t help a person in distress. That attitude wasn’t too far off from reality of the rich asshole elitists at the time, think an entire restaurant of Trumps.

I always thought that the joke when Louis gets taken by the Terror Dog was that nobody in the restaurant cared was because they were New Yorkers, and very hard to faze.

A lot of the satire mocks the upper class, like snobby university profs, government officials, politicians, etc. The wealthy are portrayed as unsympathetic and self absorbed.

I like the little easter eggs in this one, like that Lewis (the keymaster) is always locking himself out of his apartment, or how in the scene where the eggs start frying on Sigourney's countertop, there is a bag of Stay Puft marshmallows. It took me years to notice it. Speaking of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, I read that the original script was going to use the Pilsbury Dough Boy, but they had to change it. It's a combination of Dough Boy, the Michelin Tire guy and Bob's Big Boy.

Great reaction you two to this 80s comedy horror classic....please do Ghostbusters 2 & Ghostbusters: Afterlife (you can watch them at any time, it doesn't have to be for October and/or Halloween...and for a fun fact, Ghostbusters 2 is also a New Years movie - set around New Year Eve/Day, so you could watch it then too if you want....I watch Ghostbusters 2 at every new years myself 😉)

One thing that isn't clearly explained is crossing the streams at the end. They could only do it because they were standing in the gateway to another dimension so all the major destruction happened in that dimension.

The Firehouse is FDNY Ladder 8’s firehouse. The Ghostbuster sign hangs in the apparatus bay and the Ghostbusters is also painted outside on the sidewalk. If you do a RU-vid of FDNY Ladder 8 you can see it.

The one you are referring to is Dan Aykroyd and he was one of the original Saturday Night Live cast. He then went on to be in Trading Places with Eddie Murphy. It is my recommendation to do that one first and then do Coming to America with Eddie because this one has an easter egg from the first one. You will really like them both

You should watch Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters Afterlife. There was also a cartoon. The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1992).

I don’t know if your planning TK Top Movies to eventually check the other movies in the Ghostbusters franchise but if you do it best to check out Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters Afterlife. There is an all Female Ghostbusters movie that came out around 2016, I think was year, that didn’t fair well in movie theaters and moist people would say don’t bother watching or checking out. Looking forward to some the other Halloween theme movies you will be reacting to.

This came out when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade and it was huge. Kids were quoting from it and reenacting scenes at recess. The main theme song got a lot of radio play and the singer/songwriter Ray Parker Jr. got sued for plagiarism by Huey Lewis for the music sounding close to his song "I Want a New Drug". They settled out of court providing neither party speak publicly about it. Lewis talked about it in a tv interview, so Parker countersued and got a lot of money. I don't think the songs sound that similar, but that's me.

Are you kidding? The songs sound very similar. Parker's version is a straight rip off of the original, albeit with a more interesting, funky, catchy etc. arrangement. Ray Parker is a greedy asshole of a thief.

Just think about it, Bill Murray was in this movie because Eddie Murphy turned it down to do Beverly Hills cop plus the movie was different before they were in space
