My problem I gotta stop looking around 😭 I’m not looking around to judge anyone I’m looking around to see if anyone’s looking at me looking dumb🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

Slick it’s crazy that these kind of things help us feel more human. When it comes to social media everybody always worries about presentation… I don’t ever talk in any vids or rarely even make vids cause Ik I would be the physical human embodiment of a million typos 😭
I used to be soooo anxious going to the gym. It took 4 times of driving there to actually walk in and use equipment other than the treadmill. But what I noticed while anxiously walking the treadmill was everyone was so focused on themselves. And then when I started working out, I was in my own world. I forgot there were other people. So truuuuust! No one cares. No one even notices.
I just signed up for a membership, and I'm only going to the gym for cardio. (Treadmill and stairstepper) because I don't have a safe space to get my steps in, and at the gym I don't have to pay attention to my surroundings 🤍
Same here, till last monday, i just desided to go, drove myself and said, ok, im going there, how ever it goes, if nothing else, i will just run on the treadmill! And i went for an hour and half of a good workout. Good luck and go out of your comfort zone ❤
We're all in this together! :D. I used to work as an assistant personal trainer and trust me NO ONE judges you (at least for me). No one is going to go "wow, can you believe she's using such small weights?"
YOU GOT THIS!!!!! i just started a gym as well! and not gonna lie i go late at night (24 hour gym) so i can do my own thing and not pressured to be running as fast as i can or lifting a crazy amount of weight.
How did it go? How are you doing? I also just joined and am in week three now. Slowly getting used to it and it's better now I got wireless earbuds as now I'm rocking to Bollywood power tracks when doing my routines. Today I'm going to try the lat machine as the fitness trainer taught me how to use it last time 😊💪🏽
If you aren't sure how to use a piece of equipment or do a certain exercise, NEVER be afraid to ask someone next to you (that looks fit and knows what they're doing) for advice as long as they aren't in the middle of their set. Us gym regulars are much nicer than you think and we are always open to helping new goers
So true. I always do that. And I learned how to use three new machines last week! 😃 Also, trying to eventually make friends. But yes, people who work out would be nice because endorphins!
Females will only really talk to other females, especially for help, unless they find a guy attractive than they might try to find a way to get their attention.
My first day, I spent most of my time on the treadmill so I could anxiously analyze my surrounding without looking like I’m anxiously analyzing my surrounding. It worked well for me 👍🏼

For anyone wondering, it can fit a 15.6 Inc laptop witch makes its perfect for traveling. ru-vid.comUgkxhqixo9uZ1YyoCn9PYPPCh4S-n-1Z-vJl I got the small size and its pretty big, I would even say that you can be fine with an extra small one. With the small you can fit a 15.6 inch laptop, 2 - 3 jeans or panta and at least 4 to 5 shirt and a pair of shoes(if you travel more than you go to the gym of course) and you will still have a lot of space to spear if you know how to organize it. Overall I LOVE IT.

The best thing I recommend for beginners is to go at like 3am on a Monday when noone is there, then just walk around and slowly learn every machine. Look at the pictures, and if you can't figure it out pull up youtube videos. When the gym is empty you can really just take your time and learn.
The Bible can be summed up in 1 word. Jesus. Jesus means salvation. But you may say “what do I need to be saved from?” Sin and its consequence (which is Hell-the wrath of God). But you may say “I don’t Sin”. Jesus said all humans have sinned in thought, word, or deed, so either you are lying, or Jesus is lying. On the topic of sin have you ever lied, stolen anything, spoken abusively to or about someone, Swore, Blasphemed God’s Holy name, lusted after the opposite sex, had premarital sex, cheated, hated someone? Jesus died on the cross and experienced the wrath of God on Himself in order for you to be forgiven and reconciled with God. All you have to do is repent (change from your sinful ways) and Believe in Jesus. Romans 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The first time I ever went to the gym a former HS classmate was there (we’d just graduated) doing typical bodybuilder chad stuff, sitting in a chair doing bicep curls, while LAUGHING at me struggling on a machine. I never went back, that was 8 years ago. Just got a membership elsewhere and I’m excited to start focusing on me 🙂
I’m used to working out at home because I got out of the habit of doing things around others when I was younger. I just joined a gym last week and my first day I encountered exactly what I’ve been trying to avoid for so long... nasty comments from young girls. I contemplated not going back but did a week later. That guy was an asshole and I’m glad we’re doing this for ourselves because we deserve to feel good too.
Hello! I had the same experience too. For this reason I drive to a gym 20 minutes away and now I’m like super shredded. I know people say who cares what people think but it’s hard when you suffer from anxiety. Going to a location where you are anonymous helped me overcome this fear. I lost a total of 80 lbs! Get at it!!!

So I grew up going to a gym with my mom. I’m not the most athletic, but it’s so nice to plug in some headphones and just go for it. Don’t worry about what you look like, hon. Remember that no one cares and you’re beautiful :)
It's so crazy to see how you grow when you step out of your comfort zone. I was so scared at the beginning and going to the gym was always a struggle for me and now it's just become my second home. I met so many nice people there and I learned so much about myself. Going to the gym has literally changed my life and i’am so grateful to myself for that

@@8thhousealchemist600 Why should God let you into Heaven? Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust at the opposite sex, dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us. So, I ask you again, why should God let a sinner into Heaven? Sinners don’t go to heaven they go to hell, But we are blessed to have Jesus (God incarnate) die on the Cross and rise from the dead. If you Repent (forsake your sinful, unholy ways and live righteous instead) & Believe in Jesus as God, you will be seen as a Saint and welcomed into Heaven. Today was my second day going to the gym, I was exited to finally go but also kinda nervous because of all the stories of intimidating skinny girlies and mean gym bros but it has actually been very fun and inviting. Everyone is focused of themselves and don't judge you; today I was using a machine and had it on a weight setting to heavy for me so my form was bad and a guy who noticed changed the weight and instructed me how to do it correctly 😊
This video is so helpful! I just started going to the gym (2 weeks tomorrow to be exact) and my first week was full of anxiety. I felt uncomfortable because I wanted to lift weights, but didn’t know how to use the machines. So I was stuck on treadmill (watched Grey’s Anatomy episodes while walking 😂). So at the beginning of week 2, I finally found courage to go up to a fit couple working out and asked if I could train with them. They were both so sweet and welcoming and even included me in their workout routine! 😭 The girl even showed me her workout schedule. We became friends and I know one day I want to be the one to help out someone new to the gym. I’m still new, but I’ve learned a lot watching videos and asking friends for help. 🙂

LOLOL, my gym clothes consist of shirts with holes, 5+ year old shoes and shorts on sale from Ross...people always clowning until I hit that 315 on backsquats for 15 reps.🦵🏿
I finally got over my discomfort of going to the gym 🥰 I’ve gone 2 times and am going again tomorrow morning. Your videos are definitely helping me feel more and more confident!

Here’s my #1 tip if you don’t want to look like a newbie. Use only one or two sets of dumbbells or other gym equipment at once . I know it’s easier to lay everything you need right in front of you for your entire workout but people will get annoyed and go up to you if you’re taking too long with the equipment especially if you’re hogging more than one thing. :p

Tip for the gym tour, instead whenever I go to a new gym I find a treadmill and while I do cardio, I observe the gym and where everything is and plan where I’ll go next
Yea but your comfort is heavily reliant on if you feel content with how you are presenting yourself. That includes clothing. If you want to blend in, wear dark colors. A newbie in hot pink vs a newbie in black clothing will probably not draw the same attention
the baseball cap one is spot on. id also recommend starting off by doing less sets and exercises than prescribed in your routine because otherwise you might feel like throwing up. you can add exercises and sets as your body gets used to the work load
I am going to be 52 this year and I need help. I am hopeful that the gym community environment will motivate me. I am pretty lonely and want a social activity. I haven't been in a gym since the 80's...YIKES. I wanted to thank you for your advice.
What I find that helps me is 1- have a plan on what your workout will consist of (equipment, # of sets n reps) 2-research before your workout the proper form and use of said equipment 3-remember why you are here in the first place. The regret of not getting in a good workout is worse than the risk of looking "goofy" in the gym or stepping outside your comfort zone. 4-EVERYONE has started from zero. Don't compare your chapter 1 to their chapter 30.
Saw a guy the other day on a rowing machine in slacks and a work polo. Gotta get the gains even if you forgot your gym clothes. Admirable commitment, really
@@zacharykam5161 haha this is what I assume. They just didn’t have time to make a run or all their gym clothes are in the hamper. As my friend says “Get in where you fit in.”
I came back to the gym after 4 yrs 😭. I’m that one person that refuses to look at anyone in the eye because I’m too scared or too intimidated that there’s a bigger guy in my right and a dude lifting a 100 on my left 😂
90% of people will look at you with respect for improving yourself. 5% will judge you because they judge themselves and need deflection. The remaining 5% pay you no mind because they’re so focused on getting it done, that they have no time to be distracted.
Just started going to the gym again for the first in three years. So glad I found this. 😌😌 Also why do I always feel like everyone is looking at me when I’m doing the exercises.
Hahahaha potentially. Land costs a lot more in the UK, especially London. Having said that, I'm so fortunate that they rebuilt my local gym and it's a decent size with loads of large windows and natural light. They made one mistake and sacrificed having at least double size in the warm up section because they wanted more natural light in the swimming pool area. I felt sad at that mistake but never mind!

Wearing flat shoes (vans, Converse) are a good option for the gym bc when you do squats you want your feet to be as flat as possible so you're balanced. In swim we usually just take our shoes off but you don't want to do that in a public gym lol
Step 9 should REALLY be number one. You can't develop without being a fool. It should be pointed out first, but great that you even mentioned it! Many miss this important tip!
I want to try the gym because I feel that my home workouts and bands are no longer effective ... but I am ashamed to go to the gym because I am gay ..🙁
As long as you don’t have a shirt on that says, “I am gay”, I don’t think anyone would be able to tell. Just focus on your workout. You can wear whatever the fuck you want. It’s a gym not a fashion show.
That should absolutely never be a reason to hold you back from going to the gym. Doesn't matter one bit. Go in, put your music on and hit the weights. And have fun 🔥👍
Hey, gay girl here. I actually feel more confident being gay in the gym. I feel like theres no pressure of turning down guys LOL bc we're just here for a workout
I just binge watched so many of your gym videos. About a month ago I decided I wanted to start eating better and working out regularly. Not only to get rid of the extra pounds I put on after having my two kids, but also to implement a lifestyle change. I've made myself look so stupid a handful of times, but watching your videos have helped me figure out how to work machines and give me the confidence to know that it's okay to mess up. Thank you so much for making all of the beginner friendly videos!

I say who cares what you wear to the gym? Not going there to pick up a guy. Want to just be comfortable. Can't stand how so much importance or status is put on clothing and name brands/labels. Ugh.
I just started going a few months ago after a few years of anxiety and it’s crazy what I don’t worry about anymore! It’s really all about comfort and people don’t really look at you because we’re all focused and doing our own thing.
Also, if I look it's because I'm impressed with an exercise and noting it to research and do it next time! 😃😊💪🏽 I like to make friends at the gym, no luck as yet haha people aren't there to make friends lol
This is awesome. I'm bringing two gym newbies to work out with me this week and they're both nervous about what to do, so this helps me as a gym freak to give them tips! I can't even really remember what it was like for me personally starting out anymore! Thanks
Thank you for this!! I always avoided the gym because I felt self conscious. I recently started going and decided to work with a trainer to help me feel more comfortable with the machines. This was super helpful🤗
I didn't even know gyms have tours. This is so going to save so much intimidation and nervousness off my initial plan. I'm healing my dominant foot from a 5th metatarsal fracture and really just want to use the pool until I can start strength training. I love swimming and when I heard water aerobics and swimming is great from my doctor, I went and signed myself up but haven't been back since. I'm an extrovert, but gyms idk I'm so intimidated by gyms. The intimidation & fear is irrational! I'm calling my gym tomorrow and scheduling a tour ASAP.
Personal I going to a private gym 💪 which I would get extremely nervous even with my personal trainer. Keep in mind everyone, and I mean everyone starts somewhere in the gym.
I’ve joined the gym to try and get strong before I have major surgery. Your videos have been a huge help to get over anxiety about being a beginner. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for all your beginner videos!! I recently have been trying to get more into lifting & I have the worst gym anxiety! Over how to adjust machines, set up weights, proper form, etc. but your videos help SO much 💗 another tip is to try to go during a time that’s not super busy if you can.. this helps me feel more comfortable in the free weight section if I go when it’s not a peak time :)
Is there any chance you could do a video on how to move a workout bench? I know that sounds so silly but I genuinely have no idea how you’d move one to a different part of the gym!
It has wheels on the end where your legs are supposed to go Lift the handle up (it should be sticking out and you should be having one end of the bench up in air) wheel it away
I've been in the gym for over a year now, completely loving it, and I just found your video and remembered of how scared I was at the beggining lol 😅 Now I see that there's was no need at all! After you get to know some equipments, the name of things, and where is the stuff you're gonna be using, it gets a lot more confortable haha And a outfit sure helped me a lot too, I did feel way more blended
I'm just starting out at the gym with some very hefty goals. Found this video sooo helpful not just with the workout links, but making me that little bit more ready to fail forward. Knowing that everyone has looked dumb at some point definitely makes me feel a whole lot better about it :).
hi :) i have major anxiety and this video has helped calm me down a little so i just wanted to say thank you. i’ve been doing home workouts for a few months now and i think i’m finally ready to take it a step further. i will be going to the gym for the first time *ever* tomorrow and i’ve been thinking about it all day to the point where i can’t even go to sleep right now because of how anxious i am to start. thanks to this video i think i may be able to rest up before the big day! who knows, this may be the start to a successful journey :) thanks once again
Hey, I’m looking to join the gym soon, but have a lot of anxiety and really nervous about going! It’s been 5 months since you’ve written this, and I want to ask you how it’s going!
@@dcoop7516 hey there! Firstly I would like to say happy new year! Now, for these past five months I have had many ups and downs. My anxiety is still definitely there but I have consistently pushed through and can happily say that I go to the gym at least 4/5 days a week all by myself, and have managed to lose 15kg because of it!! :)) I want to say that it’s something you can easily overcome but if I’m honest, it will take some time. Taking the first step is what sucks the most, however, once ur past that you will learn that the people around you don’t really pay attention to what you’re doing. For all we know, they’re just like us, silently hoping and praying that they’re not watched by others or made fun of for doing something incorrectly. Some advice I would give you is maybe find someone who can help you adjust to the environment, like a friend or a family member, just so the process isn’t as nerve wracking as without someone beside you. Then, eventually, you probably won’t need them beside you anymore. I know we all deal with anxiety in our own ways so you should try several things before making any rash decisions. Just keep telling yourself that you’re doing this for you and for your mental health. And just know that although it feels like everyone is watching, they aren’t (I can’t stress this enough), everyone is in their own little world and you should have the same mindset! Make a nice playlist and watch your life unfold into something truly magnificent. I offer you many virtual hugs and the best of luck with your journey. You’ve got this! I believe in your ability to be a better version of yourself
I don't feel comfortable wearing a sports bra in public. Since I'm legally an adult, I will get arrested for public nudity. By the laws of the state I live in, I will get arrested for public nudity if I go jogging in a sports bra in public. I'm 26 years old. How will I get arrested for public nudity for wearing a sports bra in public while other women don't?
Lol at 4:06 when she said "All I'm trying to say is..." I got a native ad that started with "let's talk about your pits". It just lined up really well 😆
The way I can count my gym clothes on my fingers, and most of them are hand me downs from my brother, since I've never had the need for sport clothes before 😭
I’ve never been to a gym but I just got a membership, what do you do if you need to use a machine but someone is on it? Do you sit and wait for them to be done?
I was talking to my guy “friend” about going to the gym soon he really wants a workout buddy but I’ve never went! I only workout at home and it’s usually light RU-vid workouts I’m super nervous and am scared I’m gonna look ridiculous in front of him so I’m trying to find out more about the gym and trying to find some gym advice since I’m just beginning my fitness journey 😁
The gym I'm at isn't that big and it's honestly not embarrassing. When I have no clue what I'm doing I ask others and we laugh and they tell that when they came at first they didn't have a clue as well . They teach me what to do and tell.me to call them if idk something everyone is hella nice. It's comfy 😂
I've never enjoy working out with anyone but I have a feeling I'd actually enjoy going to the gym with you!! You have such a comforting way of teaching and encouraging! I've never subbed anyone from one video, yet you got me by tip 1! Keep it up lady!!
Today is my first time to go to the gym. I was using the fly machine today and that machine is facing directly the staff room and when I was doing the 3rd set of fly...and I noticed 3 staff was laughing at me....and I was so embarrassed and was thinking am I doing wrong? And then quickly...they seems aware that I noticed them and they was looking at a more far way to let me know that I was laughing something behind you. 😅
Gym or pool or wheverver. Just accept your own body, whatever its shape is and carry it around everywhere, including in the gym, proudly and with confidence. Love your body and others will love it too. And it is completely normal not to know how things work when you pick up any new hobby or activity, including the gym. Just be yourself, ask around how things work if you don't know, and you will even make friends in your first day. Remember, these are people, some humanbeings are kind, helpful and lovely even if they are focused on themselves building muscles. Be proud that you got out of your couch and managed to step into a gym. Enjoy your body and keeping fit and healthy!
pro tip: don't start going to the gym for over an hour and a half plus because I promise you will become "burnt out" quicker if this is your first time stepping into the gym. I've been going to the gym for a while and i used to be there for 2 hours and I got burnt out pretty quick. Recently, I narrowed down my workout 45 minutes and i feel so much better and motivated to keep going to the gym. I hope everyone has the best gym and fitness journey ever 💕
Literally no one is looking at you - this should be renamed on how to FEEL like a pro - be positive and remember you are there to focus on building yourself, just like everyone else there
I am so so happy you make these videos!! I’m trying to start at the gym but was extremely nervous about it because I don’t know the gym and how to use the machines. Also i was super scared i had a bad form and people would think I’m dumb 🙈 now i can just go and try it out without all of that extra anxiety
I just signed up for a gym membership bc I have rly bad mental health at the moment, and I'm hoping taking care of my physical health will help me develop better discipline :') I really want to get into deadlifting (bc the dude who gave me a tour of the gym said that would be good for me, as I am working our for aesthetic purposes and I have scoliosis). When he took my to the deadlift corner, it was PACKED with intimidating men who looked like greek gods. Little 4'8 me wearing a sweater and long skirt was shOOKETH. I hope the lifting community welcomes me warmly :') I'm such an introvert and I got this gym membership alone. I know having a spotter is VERY important, so I'm hoping I can make some friends :'> wish me luck!
I totally understand the whole wearing a hat suggestion! Just tonight I told my husband I’m buying a cap to wear so I can cover my eyes somewhat and feel less anxious 😂 It’s like a feeling safe thing for me 🤷♀️😆
Thank you so much for this video I’m 48 years old and I’ve been to the Gym a couple of times in my lifetime but now my new boyfriend wants me to go to the gum with him. A have a bit of anxiety but appreciate your advice.. I’m also aware that it will get easier with time... 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Like wtf? There are no dress code rules to going to the gym. Serious gym goers don’t care what others are wearing, nor are conscious about what others think of their outfit. If you’re a rookie in the gym, just know that most experienced gym goers are proud of you just for turning up.
