The EX20S looks like a beast but rides like a beauty... Harry, as a newbie rider, struggles with the size of the wheel while Ian loves the suspension and range out of this EUC.

after 1000 miles you will not have any issues maneuvering the wheel. its actually quite nimble once you build up the strength to be able to wield it properly. definitely a wheel that requires a large sample of riding to really feel out because of the weight

I agree! I test road this wheel today and the first thing I said is that it’s more nimble than I thought and I ride a Mpro everyday. The only things I dont like is pedal height and the pedal dippin….I’m working on a custom seat for it to fix the seated ride issue

The lights are easily adjustable with an allen key. No problem. It turns really well once we get used to applying power or brake to compensate for the weight. No effort required when power is applied. I suspect the fan will fail after you’ve put it through some muddy routes. I also suspect the fan is unnecessary but it would probably be a good idea to clean the heat sink. A front mudguard is definitely needed in your location!

Love the idea of this wheel, first long range wheel I love that! She’s beefy! Would be great to take that on a cross county trip wearing a 30lb battery in the back to charge a few times , could go a few hundred miles that would be wild Great content!

Enjoying for the moment the two reviews, beginner and expert. I say for the moment of course because before not too long, Harry is going to burning rubber ahead of you, old man. But the riding video part especially is fun to watch the skill levels. And I think many of us, well maybe just me, are looking forward to the cross comparison of the Begodes to the S22. Probably be a few months for really comprehensive review, but looking forward to that for sure. Thanks Ian, your video reviews are always a pleasure to watch much due to your nature and frankness.

Love this, the contrast of experience makes for entertaining video. It's the S22 that still catches my eye though. Really not sure on what changes they have made, to what will be the production model. Another win on the foot plates is they don't clog with mud like grip tape does :-) I have EUC World running all the time and a pebble watch, so I can keep check of my speed. I don't tend to push it anyway :-)

One of those things with the tilt back that I agree with. Of course it varies from model and manufacturer if they have it dialed in to be a nice slight tilt back and not abrupt.

Very nice review, as usual. Love Harry! He's like me 30 years ago! Kutgw! EX20S may be my next wheel to buy, right now still oscillating between that and a Monster Pro. One question, if allowed: don't you think that the ability to turn would be greatly improved with a (round) street tire? I don't ride much off-road, but I really enjoy paved mountain roads with smooth ups and downs (well... the age...), and my seller offers both tires. Also the temperature, not much mentioned in the video, is a huge factor here in my world, because I live in a not only mountainous but also extremely hot region of Thailand, my RS usually runs into 60-65°C... so, how hot does this new little toy really get?

Those pedals/footplates are really solid for being Factory. I've got them on my EXN and love em. The EX20s seems like the type of wheel that performs really well on trails and such.

does that leading edge of front battery pack (front, bottom square edge) - bother you at all when bumping curbs, or going over larger obstacles? It didn't appear to in the video, but figured I'd ask.

Hey thanks so much for the in depth review; great stuff! Made me all the more excited to get mine in a few weeks! Not sure if you mentioned it and I missed it but which motor version did you get? Curious if it was the HT version and if you had any issues over powering it like Adam from Wrong Way did on his review.

@@thelordsauron updating the firmware is fine. I think we just need to be patient. It seems to take longer than expected. I did fall foul of that but eventually got it updated correctly. I think i tried to do the update while it was charging. In retrospect, i don’t think that was a good idea!

I'm looking at the speed version of the Ex20s and the Mpro to keep up with the TONS of monsters and sherms in our group rides. I'm not sure if u changed ur initial thoughts on the Pro, but can this at least keep up with those two- speed wise?

If you set the tilt-back to the top speed, will it not consume a bit more power to do so, meaning if you set it to the top speed you could potentially push it to cut out with tilt-back on? If that makes sense?

Would you recommend the HS or HT? I'm looking at getting this wheel (probably not till batch 3-4 or a v2, though) and am fine with a top speed of 30-35mph. I'm mostly leaning towards the HT version as I feel like it would be better for initial acceleration and braking. Currently running a v11 (which I'm loving) but would love more range.

When I first got this wheel it almost felt like day 1 of EUC again, the high pedals, the weight, however after 1 month, i can roll this thing left and right like a baby and, as strange as the high pedals seem at first, they are awesome, no more curbs, you can squeeze through the smallest areas due to the height, you can also make ridiculous turns to make up for the weight. Just like all these wheels, if you spend some time on it, the wheel completely changes.

Great review Ian! I have the EX20S HS and was planning on doing a review at 500 miles, but now I’m near 700 miles and just can’t stop riding this machine. It truly feels like a wheel that can take you anywhere you want to go, like a magic carpet. I added a handle and strap in the front secured by both sides of the metal frame as both a way to make it easier to carry, and for better braking when seated. Would have been nice to have it included, but it was an easy addition. I’m also a larger rider at 240 lbs. so maneuvering isn’t too much extra effort and I enjoy feeling more planted, especially when going at higher speeds. I truly feel like an EUC beast riding this wheel, standing over 7 feet tall and a combined weight of about 350 lbs. Quick question...what psi did you set the stock shock to? I set mine at 260 psi but if you set yours to 320, I’m thinking I’m way under, especially for my weight. Couldn’t find a lot of info regarding guidelines for ideal stock shock psi.

That’s awesome! Do you happen to have a picture of the handle you made for it? I’m definitely going to try and make something to make lifting it around easier. I also heard you’ll want to rubberize under the rear light because it’s sharp on your bare hand if you don’t.

@@thelordsauron Indeed, I put some foam rubber matting under the rear tail light with something for the fingers to hold onto for better grip. I don’t have a picture of the front handle but what I have on there is pretty simple. Just a load bearing strap around the metal frame at the front. I also cut a pool noodle and covered it in duct tape to use as a better grip for the strap. Something in front secured to the frame to lift the wheel makes it so much easier.

The Begode Master coming soon. In two battery configurations, High-range Samsung 50E cells, 2,400Wh capacity, or High-power Samsung 40T, 1,920Wh capacity. Are you getting both? I think the 50E are the default where as I think I would go for the 40T. Not sure about the options on the EX20S, interested in peoples thoughts though.

Two questions. 1) What is the power to battery capacity ratio? It is bad if the motor over-powers the battery, and boring if the motor is too weak. 2) How efficient is the regeneration? I was watching an electrical motorcycle being towed by a truck to see how well it charged the battery; and it didn't.

Battery is 3600Wh Motor is 3000W Most EUCs have good regen. You can see the voltage go up when braking. If you go down a long hill you can put lots of energy back into the battery.

@@arcrides6841 So the ratio is 3/3.6= .8 That looks a teeny bit high (Motor too big). Why don't they put in super capacitors to absorb the surge currents?

@@Speedyfeetuk Leeds, I have maybe seen one person using a unicycle, me bezzing around on a Sherman in the city centre ... ill last maybe an hour longer than I would on a Sur Run - which, will be immediately taken off me as they are exclusively used by dealers/armed robbers/young goons in this city and every other major one too.

off road - on some dirt track - yes probably fine. But I have never seen anyone that does not fit the above criteria on tarmac/built up areas on a Sur Ron. I love the many pros to unicycle but its really a second choice for me I detest the ride position it looks completely ridiculous. Im sure I could blend in with a powerful inconspicuous moped with pedals type vehicle but I reaaaaly want a sur ron. I guess i could get a road legal one with cbt and plates but then i would have to adhere to the many rules of the road which will negate my ability to zip around in the city centre with push bike levels of mobility/access.

Yoooooo Ian great vid mario looking extremely different 😁... I can't believe you forgot to mention 2 of most important factors on this wheel?... 1. It weighs 50kgs 2. It weighs 50kgs And as a minor point just to mention it weighs 50kgs 50miles range is ridiculous what were they thinking when they made this? I can't wait to not ever ride this wheel😅

Might be something wrong with his wheel tbh, most people riding this wheel managed to get more than double that range. I personnaly did 40 miles on it and was down to 80%

He did mention the weight. 47kg. If you listen to what Ian says, his range results are from the absolute hardest riding and are the lowest possible range you can expect. So, expect more than that. I’ve done 110km on a charge down to 10% and all hard road riding at 110kg riding weight. Now you know two examples you can make up your own mind.

3:14 The top seat part looks wonky. Is that the angle or the EUC? I have a Sherman and don't experience fatigue from getting on and dismounting. Perhaps that isn't a downside for the EX20S, rather than a noob rider getting onto an expert rider wheel. No offense, I love seeing more people ride, just in giving a review for potential buyers (like myself) maybe don't review the parts where inexperience is the contributing factor. Not to mention that not many ride these big wheels without after market pads, so there's that. My Sherman has the Begode waffle pedals on it and you CAN still adjust your footing. Just lift up n one leg and gently put your other foot down where it feels comfortable. Nothing bad about the spike pedals. Again, bringing inexperience to an advanced wheel is nothing against the wheel. I can understand wanting a novice and expert opinion, but for this very obvious not a beginner wheel, I just don't see the need. Anyway, enough of my novel. Thanks for an outstanding (as always) video review of my next wheel. I eagerly look forward to the next one.

@@meuconmyeuc1337 I'm still super keen on the Master even though it's also fragile looking. Gotta think about it more. Maybe I'll consider the EX20S instead. Who knows. Does it also have air shocks?

@@arcrides6841 Both have air shocks. The main difference between the Master and the EX20S HS that I can see is the range of the EX20S HS is more like the Sherman and the Master is more like the RS. The Master seems to be what most riders will choose due to its technical nature. The only benefit for the EX2 is that range/speed. If it's range and speed you're after, the EX20S HS is for you. The torque version is also available, but the EX2 is far heavier than the master and is the main downside for this wheel that I can see. If heft isn't a concern and you want that range, EX2 HS is the way to go.

Those square sides near the wheel are going to get annihilated. Can't believe after so many years that Gotway isn't moving forward in terms of sleeker and more fluid lines like the MCM5 which is virtually indestructable due to its egg shape. This thing is going to get destroyed before the owner learns to ride it. Rectangles have no place in EUC design. Atrocious design. Wires, fan exposed. Not to mention it's ugly as sin. Yikes.
