Why do we do the things we do? Over a decade in the making, this game-changing book is Robert Sapolsky's genre-shattering attempt to answer that question as fully as perhaps only he could, looking at it from every angle. Behave book review

Hi, great review man! I read this book couple of months ago and agree. This is most important book I've ever read. And I did what you mentioned. I wrote notes to help it stick. I actually had it on audible first but because it was so dense and technical, I actually had to get an actual book. I enjoy your book reviews and have been checking them out for book recs. Keep it up.

Hi, great review. I can only agree that it gives a great insight of the current understanding of human behaviour. After reading it I asked myself how can I find similar insightful books to waste less time. So far no luck though. ;) Have you heared of "The Prince of Medicine: Galen in the Roman Empire" from Susan P. Mattern? It might fit in well with your medical interests. Galen's life made me think on a completely different level about medicin and human achievements. As a more popular book I recommend "Principles" by Ray Dalio. It would be interesting to hear what someone at the beginning of their career makes out of this end of career/life view/advice. Kudos to all your book reviews. There are a few that I want to read in the future. All the best!

I have been searching for a place to discuss this book. Thankfully I found this channel. I am Software Developer with zero background in biology but have always been curious about. So most of the knowledge I got from this book has been hard to understand and hard to remember. The overall point of the book is about thinking about complex things in complex ways, incorporating multiple branches of ideas in science to solve a human problem and being more kinder than you were is an objective sign of progress are some of the peripheral things that I took away from this book. I am however having a second go at it and taking notes this time. Loved your review. Hopefully you are willing to discuss this with me.

Sure I think it’s one of those books that definitely makes more sense to go through with notes. Because there’s a lot of useful information in there for understanding human beings in general and the sad truth about reading is within a month you often forget a lot of what you read. I’d this is probably my favourite book of all time so far just because of the amount of knowledge raised but also the humbleness of the author wisdom and humbleness do not always go together.

@Merlin Media While talking about amygdala's roll in agression : "not all fear causes aggression, and not all aggression is rooted in fear. Fear typically increases aggression only in those already prone to it; among the subordinate who lack the option of expressing aggression safely, fear does the opposite." Am I reading this right that a subordinate will get aggressive even when not prone to being aggressive usually and there is nothing else to express agression?

Great review man! Definitely added to my to read list. Watched his lectures on behavioral biology and they were perfect. I’d recommend a book called “flow” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. A wonderful book that I’d like to hear you review on it. Cheers from Egypt and keep up the good work.
