Jimmy, my husband and I have moved twice, conceived and birthed a child in the spance of watching your content. I say all of that to give weight to put I'm about to say: As a fan: My husband and I LOVE your content and are always checking to see if you've posted. As a friend: Do what you have fun doing. There's a reason so many people started watching you play. Someone is always going to have something to say; you cant make everyone happy. There's a season for everything and there's nothing wrong with taking a break if you need one. 🤷♀️ It's hard to produce excellent work that you're proud of if you're dreading doing the work. 🤔
Just wanted to let you know that I really do love your background music. It blends in nicely with whatever's going on and it's never jarring or awkward 10/10 much love
I hate to hear that jim is burned out /: but he has been doing by release for what almost 3 years? Must be extremely tiring. I’ve actually watched episode 1-38 of by release 3 times. It’s pretty dope seeing some of the behind the scenes stuff
It really seems like people are starting to fall off of this game lately… can’t blame them, I’m finding myself in the same boat just burnt on the same content over and over. Hope you take some time for yourself and figure out what you want to do, either way you have fans that will support you in content other than RuneScape. Can’t wait for the 007 video 😂
There's a good tip I got from Soundsmith that's helped me a lot. Learn to recognise when the wick is getting low, or when you're starting to get burnt out and take a break. More frequent breaks means shorter burnouts.
not really a question, but I am really interested in cinematography, although I never studied such a thing. I have a list of "best videos ever made" with my selection of yt videos that I've found to be extremely captivativating over the years. This consists of just very few videos, but your video "RuneScape: An MMO Split In Half" made it to that list after the first time I've seen it. I've watched that video at least 15 times and probably will watch it again many more. I love your work a lot and I will support everything you'll do in this style! Keep up the amazingness!
Post release! When you (on the rare instances you do) record talking to a camera, do you memorize your script or have some other way of saying your script well staring into the camera?
How do you feel about the whole concept of parasocial relationships? Lots of people see you and your content as if they actually are actually engaging with you, wonder how that feels for you (except unreal) on your part. Wish you all the best and good fortune
Dude I seriously want you to know, you're my second favorite OSRS RU-vidr behind Link and Rargh. Like, that rates you higher than Settled and his swamp-man series. You're rated higher on my list than B0aty and Torvesta, Virtoso and Tanzoo, and the other 100 shitty little so-called youtubers that are out there. I absolutely love every episode that you release, almost as much as I love watching Link and Rargh beat each other to a pulp. And your original music is cream of the crop. Literal cream. Of a crop. Love you Also thank god you're an audiophile like me. 90% of RU-vidrs need to buy a decent vocal microphone, then add some compression and EQ, but they don't. And you do. Which is great.
J1mmy I think you are the peoples champion of OSRS. We will watch any content and support you on everything you do. I know what it’s like to get in your head and only see the negatives but always remember we will support you in everything you do!
I guess this question isn't really production related but more about the gameplay side of things, but how has playing the By Release account made you feel about Ironman accounts in general? Like are you enjoying the difference in gameplay as opposed to the normal OSRS experience? Or would you be hating it if it weren't for the By Release restrictions/format? Love the series btw, and can't wait for the Valorant video!
Jim, as a long-time aspiring wannabe Runescape YTer and musician, how exactly does your process for writing, recording, and mastering your songs go? I'm a self taught drummer and producer and hearing the Recipe for Disaster song blew my mind.
Aye jimbob, I'm curious about your setup. I want to make my own videos one day. What capture card do you use/recommend? As a fan of sound do you use a mixer for your microphone and audio? What mic do you use? (It sounds great!) Do you record video on a camera or webcam? Thanks for the laughs, never stop being yourself bub.
Hope that you can push through this burnout! I love your videos a lot, and I'm glad you're not just doing Osrs videos as well. Would you ever consider doing a long series on a different RPG like Skyrim or something? I would watch the heck out of that.
Really enjoying this, thanks. Love your background music and B-roll. Noticed it on your first video and all your videos with it afterward. All the best J1mmy, don't get burned out. Cheers
Don't want to rush if you are planning to say in a later video, but if you don't mind me asking. What has been your favorite quest you got to play and comment on? I enjoy the genuine excitement you seem to have had on them, but wanted to know which you feel was your fave from both a playing and commentary prospective.
Hey big dawg, you gotta take some time to yourself. Can’t enjoy your continent if you aren’t enjoying making it. Take your time, and we’ll be waiting for your return.
I would love for this series to continue. Side note: around 7:05 you talk about the inconsistent zoom, and I feel like zooming for one character and zooming out for yourself can empathize you are a different character. While they were inconsistent, they do portray a difference in who is talking visually.
But be do worry about you J1mmy, we all want you to be as happy as you make us when we watch your amazing series, we all love you and we hope you're doing okay 💕
Could you elaborate more on your role as president of your university's hockey team? Do you like hockey in general or was it something that was an opportunity at the time?
What happens when you get the quest cape? Is the series over? Obviously osrs will still have more quests once you catch up, so will there be extra by release vids?
Just a comment about you taking the background music seriously and how you don't know if people even hear it. My friend who's a drummer told me that the best drummers play so you don't even notice them. It's just a seamless grid upon which the music is built. I think the background music functions similarly in your videos, and tbh I never notice it, and I think that means it's doing it's exact job.
So what are you gonna do when you have to do client of kourend, because they retroactively made the clue scroll one with veos a req for it which means continuity is broken
love this behind the scenes look! Been here since the first episode and you've always stood out as a content creator with great humor as well as great production value and an awesome chill approach to the game. cheers
Completely unrelated to most of the series, but I do have a question that I'd love an answer to: Sandy confessions, the hand in the sand song you made for episode 27, lived in my head absolutely rent free. It was so addictive to listen to I went and put the lyrics along with proper annotation on Genius lyrics, as far as I know, this was the first of your songs to be put there. I was content with that, but spotify releases etc got me to revisit the page, and there is a second annotation by a "J1mmyByRelease" on Genius, and I just have to know if it was you that did it! Genius says the account made a lyrics edit proposal, but it won't let me view the proposal, I really hope I didn't get any lyrics wrong, cause I spent wayyy too long writing them all up ahaha
Hey Jimmy! first off, thank you for all the content that you create. I thoroughly enjoy every video that you produce for us. My question is were you always a pc gamer or did you also grow up with consoles like the ps1/2 or any Nintendo consoles?
What was the thought process behind doing a handheld, corded microphone for your monologues? Personally I really like it because it contributes to the feel that this series is a throwback to when things weren't refined/clean in MMOs, but I'm curious if that's what you were actually thinking as well.
14:45 I felt that bit in my soul. I've been working 3 months on a video that's barely 10 minutes so far because my live commentary in early clips is just unusable, and my workflow is pretty terrible. Would love to see more of these if you enjoyed making it
Tbh as much criticism as you give yourself for your early episodes they were by far the best. I’m not saying the new eps aren’t good but they just don’t compare to the early months of this series. I whole heartedly enjoyed the first 10-15 eps.
Hey man, I appreciated the landscape shots when you did them. It reminded me of nintendo 64 games ( legend of zelda oot and mm specifically). It was both artistically really well done and nostalgic. If it was something that helped you produce videos definitely make them again. It’s nice to listen to your viewers but the viewers are not the ones making the videos. You are. I know views are important to you, however I doubt those intros would be the reason people stop following you.
