Hey J1m, random guy on RU-vid offering advice, but I personally think it would be easier to transition more of your main audience to watching you in other games if you do history bits like you did with construction and the split between OSRS and RS3. Those videos have a lot of draw and are also informative, so they would give the audience a clue as to what is happening in a future video if they don’t play that game personally. Just my thoughts!
@@thomasmcgrath8568 whaaaat lol, why ppl for other human beings, man I am here and in every other osrs content creator it's for the creator not for the sitthy game not even his own creators cares about
@@thomasmcgrath8568 nah, have to disagree. I think his content is great but what makes J1mmys content is J1mmy. I don't know the dude, I'll probably never meet him, but he's a funny dude. Anyone can make OSRS content, or any other content, end of the day it doesn't matter what game or subject it is. Be a bit more open.
It took me about 5 times watching this over to find, but J1m actually left clicked it at 7:56. That’s a shit grind too I went about 2k dry on my iron before I got this 😂 sorry my dude.
I didn't know about you prior to By Release, and it immediately became my favorite OSRS series. I think it has a genuine humor that a lot of Runescape videos lack that is still well balanced with the depth and goal of the content itself. Also you and Nicole are adorable. Hope my honest feedback wasn't too harsh
Yo J1m, I just wanted to say that I'm 100% with you on the "Adventurer vs. Hero" storytelling dynamic. The "Chosen Hero" story beats always fall flat for me in MMOs. Like, I just spent 20 minutes running in a circle around the main trade hub and then trying glitch onto a roof; If >> I
@@Mnkeys It's actually kind of funny you said that because when I wrote the original comment, I was playing through FFXIV's MSQ and the story was my least favorite part of the game by far LOL. To each their own.
Not even a series - I’d love to watch j1mmy just break down and compare endgame pvm between the two games and what they could learn from each other. I think he’d have some super interesting takes on that!
Dude, I've loved basically all of your songs. And, all of your content's been stellar. I found you through Framed, and 9rain and Settled through both of you. I'm so glad I found this little pocket of creators. Hope you keep together well, man. Have a good one. Edit: Codes was definitely one of your best songs, for sure. No offense, but I actually think "Platform" was one of the weaker ones. And, I don't count "Fireman", since it was sorta the proto-By Release song, in my mind. The RNG video was probably one of the best episodes, along with the Recipe For Disaster One, and the '07 Finale. The interactions between you and the boys make some of the best moments, in my opinion.
I introduced my friend to your channel through your newest Valorant video and he loved it. He's never played OSRS but still tunes in to watch all your new videos no matter what the game is. I think you got potential to be really out there Jimmy, and I'm gonna root for you the whole way. :)
youtube shorts is poppin now getting alot of views and the short vids is back are you gonna jump into it? i think it would be good to do short rs skits i think it would fit you so much
Best feedback I can give is my girlfriend who doesnt even play games outside of animal crossing loves your content and understands and is engaged by it and its REAL hard to keep her attention. Fact you can pull that off is a huge tell to me no matter what your making your content on its gunna be good and engaging.
I think overall your content really changed the "gameplay hours : editing hours" U mentioned in OSRS content creation, the content is entertaining in a very different way compared to a 100-hour RC grind smashed into a minute long ramble in the middle of an episode
Are you completely turned off RS3 as a whole or just the idea of by release on it? (Or, a similar question - having played both rs3 and os, what is it about os that really hooks you that rs3 doesn’t give you?) I’m the other way around (really enjoyed rs3, especially late game pvm, but never got hooked by os despite trying a few times) and have always been very curious about the inverse perspective.
@@0ffaI I watched that the day it came out but he didn’t get very far into the game. Early rs3 is a little bit of a slog - most of the actual game starts once you get into the 80s and 90s
I agree with your bot conspiracy theory. Back when they did the "Bot Nuke" and bot creators had to re write their scripts the active player base was almost cut in half until bots were back up. That's a lot of players botting or otherwise that aren't giving jagex money.
Not gonna lie, I love by release music and if you made other like real music. I’d be waiting for that to release. This music isn’t just good cause RuneScape, it’s good cause of its tunes and flow and the lyrics are fire. Honestly please do it.
Jeez @J1mbo.. you're rant at the end hit me so deep! Life's got me really down this past year since my dad suddenly passed from COVID. I have played runescape since i was in elementary school and had become a huuuge outlet for me while having to deal with my Dad's passing, and it's funny how much this game teaches us about life.. keep up the hard work, it's our determination and experience that makes us heros!
I don't think your old stuff is better than newer necessarily- I think the people who say they miss it or that it was the best are mostly speaking from nostalgia. I mean, I remember when By Release first started. It stoked a lot of childhood memories and so the earlier songs kind of made me feel more elated. But all of them throughout have been bangers- my little brother and I listen to them all all the time and have a great time with.
Sad to hear that your non-RuneScape videos don’t do well. I really love them and can see the huge amount of effort you put in to making them fun and approachable for people that don’t play the game.
baoooowww, beeewda beewda beewda beeeeewwww, beewda beeeewda beewda bbbaooowwwww IIIIIII JUST DONT WANNA PAY THAT GUUUUY!, HE KEPT LOOKING AT MA EYYYE, AND HE KNOWS THAT I AM BLIIIIIND Oh hell yeah I would 100% cop a J1mmy album, even if it was just a little EP 4/5 tracks long doesnt have to be a feature length album
Ayye thanks for answering my question, Jimbobbalongadingdong! I have a 1030gt right now so it's a bit of a crapshoot when it comes to real GPU work. I'll give it a fair shot though! I have an internal SSD that I can record to do you think 500gb is enough?? I have a pair of Beyer dynamic dt 990 pros and a modmic attached. You think that would sound okay for a beginner or should I buy a Shure oe something? I dig the audiophilia you present with your equipment , man. You sound great! I just bought my first webcam, it's a popular Logitech one. Videos coming soon! I'm working at Amazon right now and the 12s make things hard but I'm approaching a big rebuild and I'm stoked for the way I can handle that. The audio fidelity questions helped me a lot too! Thanks again, stay safe and take care of yourself. Don't feel guilty for having fun, ever!
RS3 videos would never be anywhere close to By Release. The series are very enjoyable and rewatchable, because of how unique idea it is and how well you present it. Even for RS3 audience, because many has experienced this oldschool RS back then. However making content about something that lot of OSRS (which is the major % of fanbase ) don't care on its own, by player who doesn't actively play, or ever played RS3 much doesn't sounds like a great idea. Maybe with colab with some RS3 content creator/player, maybe.
After getting inspired by the by-release series, I created an alt account on rs3 to kind of get that sense of nostalgia from my time playing all the quests that I have forgotten. getting all the way to dragon slayer I realized that it is physically impossible to do a by-release playthrough in RS3. Jagex removed a few quests that gave the quest points needed to start the dragon slayer quest that needs 33 quest points just to start the quest. This is due to Jegax soft rebooting the start of the game where Tutorial island use to give 4 quest points, removing quests such as Romeo and Juliet, removing and placing new ones in such as prince Ali rescue being swapped out for two quests, and turning what was once quest into mini-quest that do not give quest points. This would not give the quest points needed to finish the first year. The way I found a way around this issue to do a by release was doing the quest that was the soft reboot quest that played no pivotal role to the quest that acted as a tutorial teaching players of the different mechanics such as EOC
Yeah if you do the reworked Demon Slayer in place of Demon Slayer, Gunnar's Ground in place of Romeo and Juliet, and Stolen Hearts and Diamond in the Rough in place of Prince Ali Rescue - all quests that take the same place in the storyline as the originals, you should land on exactly 33 quest points arriving at Dragon Slayer. EDIT: Also anyone doing a "By Release"-esque or timeline order playthrough of RS3 - do NOT do the Death of Chivalry in place of Black Knight's Fortress. This rework moved the quest to a far later point on the timeline and contains major spoilers for quests that come before it.
Doesn't the fact that they removed the quest points from witch's potion and Sheep Shearer kinda make doing Heroes and Legends quest impossible to do in release order as well as those 2 quests required every quest prior to release to be finished.
@@skawt24 yes it does, I have had to do several quest that again play no role but to add mechanics. To put it simply by release is completely impossible to do.
There’s a few other quests that got reworked too, like rune mysteries. I get why they did it, it makes more sense for the world and for new players, but it does mean you have to take some liberties. Keep at it though - there’s a lot of quest lines that were cliffhangers in os that were finished in rs3, and some of those quests are REALLY good. Getting qpc in rs3 was a very enjoyable experience (at least, once you get through the first 150 qp or so).
Yo if you want feedback for the Valorant video, I think you put too much time into explaining what Valorant was and how it worked at the start. Shooters by nature are pretty self explanatory, and explaining individual abilities doesn't stick with people unless they already play the game anyway. On top of that Valorant is much more popular than runescape so it doesn't need as much explanation. I think if you focussed more on the humour and relationship (like you having fun with your friends) stuff it would've done better. Legit I think the video wasn't really fun to watch until like 12 minutes in. Right after you said "I think i'll just show you a bit of the journey so far" that's when you had a really good video. Most people wouldn't wait that long for it though. That being said I still loved it and I hope you do more stuff in other games!
Jimmy, I love your music but please don't stop making nerd/runescape related music. I'mma be honest the nerd rap game really needs more players. We got Ekoh, Chris Webby, enter Jimmy the guy who makes bad ass raps about runescape and video games. Leggo
For ref, a 'by release' would be legitimately impossible on rs3 without making a LOT of exceptions since a lot of the older quests were deleted/changed/reworked into entirely different quests. I assume none get past ep.2 because they see your success and jump into it without realizing.
Id definitely watch more RimWorld, I will be honest I am a huge fan and your vids have helped reinvigorate my runescape love multiple times. I am also guilty of not really being interested in non-OSRS vids... except for ones I've played before. I would 100% watch informative content in other games tho like another comment mentioned, for example I tried to watch the Valorant one but was pretty much lost, same with the Lost World one but had no real clue what was happening and obv i enjoyed the humour but theres so much humour content out there, and in games I know. I really wish you good luck on expanding, I found you like many others right after ur first By Release and i really hope to see you thrive and be able work on things you love while also making a good income obviously. I honestly really enjoyed the vid where you admitted you had burnt out of Runescape, since I had burnt out only a few months before you, love your content, I also ramble in comments but best wishes
Sorry to pester you so much about RS3 and all that. I know you get that question a ton and I respect just not liking the game. I just love how By Release has gone and don't want it to end. Heres maybe a less annoying question, where did you get your Santa hat from?
is it really conspiracy though? Considering our entire game is supplied by players. If it weren't for the bots would we still have the xp rates achievable today?
Hi Jim. You are absolutely correct about tradable is needing removal from minigames - soul wars, bounty hunter, lms. Imma go watch your Valorant video now even though I have no clue what a Valorant is.
MrKathaar is doing an RS3 series similar to By Release. It's called Chrono Locked and he's doing every quest in chronological order instead of release order.
Talking about music outside of osrs and being worried about moving it into a realm of not game related you mentioned them not being funny, for me I think you could make none osrs music but still funny your analogies and dry humor is what keeps me coming back not the game. I think if you find a way to channel your humour into none osrs music it may feel less daunting and (not that I've gone out of my way to look for them) but you don't exactly see comedy rap/music and you could really make something unique and special whilst staying in the world your comfertable in. Hope they helps change your view my genuinely autistic ass has listened to every by release song on repeat for hours and honestly I don't do that with many artist. Good luck dude keep it the great work and much more importantly keep healthy mentally. Big love
J1mmy, love your content but I was wondering what you would tell someone who would like to begin creating content? I've always dreamed of being a youtuber/twitch streamed and I don't know where to start
You have the ear for music And could definitely work in the industry as a day job Mastering music and working with software is a big part of the job Ontop of using that as a spring board for your own work
I think you should take your advice at the end there and please try making more music. I promise you that it will be well received. You're more talented than I think you give yourself credit for man.
J1m, your series of By Release has made me a better osrs player by getting me to actually do the quests and breathed such a different air into how I play. Even if you don't see or hear it I do think your series and commentaries about the game have had a major impact on the player base. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see what else you make!
J1mmy, the man! Continue doing your thing, and your legion of fans, we'll stand behind you! Love your approach to everything, games, interviews and music. You rekindled my love for this game, and have carried me throughout alot of long nights at work! Love you man! ❤️
